I've seen a couple of these kids on TV the last two days, turning their grief and anger into action. They give me more hope than I've felt for America in a long time:

One of the students gave a great speech.  I don't know her name, but she has very, very short hair.  I wouldn't be surprised if she does something amazing in the future.

I hope they're successful, and I hope positive voters can get as riled up as hateful voters did in 2016, but I'm not optimistic.  We've all seen how short American attention spans are.  We all remember too many school shootings where everyone talked alot immediately afterward and then went back to their distractions a week or two later.

Change takes hard work.  Twitter hashtags aren't going to solve anything.  As long as Americans love money more than children, corporate profits will always be the highest priority.

You're referring to Emma Gonzalez, I think. Anyone on Twitter can follow her at https://twitter.com/Emma4Change

Also worth following are David Hogg and Cameron Kasky:

          https://twitter.com/davidhogg111

          https://twitter.com/cameron_kasky

Kasky was on the CNN town hall Weds. night. He's the kid who destroyed smarmy, dissembling Sen. Marco Rubio by simply asking if he'd decline NRA contributions and refusing to let up when Rubio tried to weasel out of answering.

The more I see of these kids the more I'm in awe of them. They're getting a lot of abuse from NRA backers, so please support them any way you can. They've been through Hell and they're trying to make sure no one else has to go through it ever again. They are heroes. And please join the March For Our Lives March 24 -- in Washington DC and cities all over: https://www.marchforourlives.com/

The Second Amendment was adopted into the United States Constitution on December 15, 1791, along with the other amendments in the Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights were introduced into the United States Constitution by James Madison.

The most advanced weapon at that time would probably have been either the Kentucky long rifle, capable of firing two or three .60 balls per minute out to an accurate range of 300 yards, or the 6-pound field gun, which could fire a variety of projectiles 1500 yards, usually one shot every two minutes.

Interesting! I unwittingly joined the board on the 214th anniversary of...The Bill Of Rights

"Why are we always stuck and running from the bullets?"

I was a pallbearer in the late 60's for a teenage friend. He and his young pregnant wife were on vacation in Arkansas. He was out target practicing with a small caliber hand gun with a friend. The gun jammed. When trying to unjam it, it discharged and went through his hand and into his heart and killed him. One shot from one small caliber bullet can kill a person. These rifles that have the kill power of firing 100 to 200 times a minute are nothing but mass murder killing machines. They are far far far far far too dangerous to be easily accessible to the general public. Gun owners should be held strictly accountable for the arms they bear. People have a right to protect themselves, but their killing power should not be limitless.

Trump Signs Bill Revoking Obama-Era Gun Checks for People With Mental Illnesses

President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.

I agree! No assault weapons should be legal for just anyone to buy. I mean, there is no good reason for a regular citizen to have them.

I just listened to some of the capitol hill debate LIVE on the radio. Donald is actually standing up to the NRA. Hope he stays strong and doesn't back down. Here is another issue that was brought up to put in the bill or another bill because gun violence is often involved...

Number of American women assaulted by men each year

                      2,100,000

Percent of the victims of domestic violence that are women

                      95 %

Percent of all emergency room calls attributed to domestic violenc

                      3.5 %

Number of women that die each day as a result of abuse

                      4

Number of children that die each day as a result of abuse

                      3

Percent of all women who sought care in hospital emergency rooms for violence related injuries

                      37 %

The extremist websites where Trump fans get their news are saying that this shooting never happened.  Like Sandy Hook and most other school shootings, they claim it's fake and the students are actors.  Where they found such good 6-year-old actors is anyone's guess.

They admit that shootings like the Texas church and Las Vegas happened, but claim the Texas shooter worked for Hillary Clinton and/or Bernie Sanders or "the Muslims".  Las Vegas was a government conspiracy by the Democrats or Muslims.

People who voted for Trump, and Trump himself, get their "news" from sites that want you to believe these school shootings are not happening.  They go far beyond blaming the victims.  They claim these children are faking it.  How are Americans not outraged by this?

I can understand hating Obama.  He is a Democrat.  Republicans are commanded to automatically hate Democrats and vice versa.  And he is black.  That personally offended a lot of easily triggered bigots.  And I suppose, in some weird way, I can understand their conspiracy theories that Michelle Obama was a man and/or gorilla.  After all, she's also a Democrat.  And black.  They think black people are animals anyway.

But these are children.  The extremist/conspiracy sites and their fans openly hate children, of all races and political denominations.  These sites are slowly being legitimized by Trump and his cronies.  If you think Fox or MSNBC are bad, just wait.

Emma Gonzalez.  Thank you.  She's awesome.

Do you seriously believe that is where Trump fans get their news? If those websites exist, why not post the links? I suspect National Enquirer quality. So you believe that 50% of the country hates children???? Seriously?Hmmmmmmmmmm.

That's not what I said at all.

                                            Ditto!

I agree! No assault weapons should be legal for just anyone to buy. I mean, there is no good reason for a regular citizen to have them.

I agree too!  I don't understand why this is so hard for people to understand.    It's not like the movie Independence Day where aliens are attacking us and we need a Rambo when there's no army or police to protect us, lol.  There's no reason whatsover for anyone (other than the military) to have assault rifles or machine guns.  What's wrong with just a simple ban on that?

So proud of all the high school students and everyone (including Paul!) who took a stand at the March last Saturday.   The national debate on this has been going on for a long time, it's time for our lawmakers to come up with answers now.
