      Hi there folks,

this is my first post on the Maccaboard (but I'm not new to website and I've been a fan for ages). Sorry that it's slightly negative.

Just wondering, is anyone else disappointed with the new reissue series? Why reissue two (relatively) recent albums? They're both strong albums, but are they in need of reissue yet? And the Wings' Greatest compilation is good but probably made redundant by Wingspan.

Meanwhile, many of us are waiting for deluxe reissues of Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, London Town and Back to the Egg. Surely it's time for these records to get some attention - and all of them sold well back in the day.

Maybe it's just me, but I reckon there'd be a lot of fans out there waiting on those '70s albums.

It's because he's back on his old label Capitol and NEW was no longer in print. Chaos and Creation had a very limited vinyl run in '05. And it's already 13 years old, so of course reissue that one. Wings Greatest and Thrillington are also long out of print, so it's a pretty good cross section of his solo and Wings output. I think we'll see the 4 remaining Wings albums next (well, next after the new album this year).

Wings Over America - Cow Palace SF - June 1976. New World Tour - Anaheim Stadium - 4/17/93. Driving USA - Oakland Arena - 4/1/2002. US Tour - HP Pavilion - San Jose - 11/08/05. An Evening with Paul McCartney - The Joint at Hard Rock - Las Vegas - 4/19/09. Up & Coming Tour - Hollywood Bowl - 3/31/10. Walk of Fame Star Presentation - Hollywood - Feb. 2012. CBS-TV taping - The Night That Changed America (with Ringo!)  - L.A. Convention Center - Jan. 2014. Out There Tour -Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles - Aug. '14 and Petco Park - San Diego - Sept. '14. I too was surprised by the vinyl re-issue of "Wings Greatest" !

I'm pretty gutted by the re-issue of "Chaos" ... I have and origional vinyl copy , so it will probaly be devalued  😞

I understand that these issues are partly because of a new record contract, however I would have liked to have seen the  opportunity taken to expand Wings Greatest to cover the entire Wings period. Would like to have seen included the singles "Listen To What The Man Said", "Arrow Through Me", "Goodnight Tonight" and perhaps Wings live version of"Coming Up".  I believe these changes would have enhanced this release and provided a more complete Wings Greatest.

I always came back to the songs he was singing,
            At any particular time

I wouldn't worry. Chaos and Creation on vinyl in 2005 was pretty rare. Keep it in good condition, and it will be worth far more than the reissue.

In order to release a quality Blu-Ray & DVD of the Let it Be film they'd have to find the original film negative and soundtrack and professionals would have to restore it frame by frame.  (Same with the Paul McCartney TV Special, they'd have to find an original video tape to make a good copy from.)   Seems like I read somewhere the film was originally shot in 16mm but then converted to widescreen 35mm or 70mm for the theatrical release.

The bootlegs that are out there now are second or third generation prints, film made from a film, with faded color and just adequate sound quality.  If The Beatles did release Let it Be on Blu-Ray & DVD, they'd no doubt  want to make it of the highest quality.

If the original negatives can't be found, that could be part of the problem as to why the film hasn't been re-released, but it seems most likely it would be with Apple somewhere.

Hopefully the Let it Be film and McCartney TV special are under consideration for a DVD/Blu-Ray release, and we'll get that sometime in the near future.

The bootlegs mostly come from a Laserdisc transfer, a defunct video format that preceded DVD. Let It Be was officially released on VHS and Betamax tape and Laserdisc in the 1980's. As for restoration and release; the film has been restored. It was fully remastered and planned for re-release when Let It Be Naked came out. They could not come to an agreement to release the original film at that time. I've read both Paul and Ringo say in interviews since, that it will be re-released someday. The hurdle was apparently George, who expressed he did not want it released before he died. So it would have to have Olivia and Dhani's OK to be released against George's wishes. There's tons of extra footage, including the full 42 minutes live on the Apple Rooftop (nine takes of 5 songs). So maybe they can do an entirely new cut of the film they can all agree on, ala Let It Be Naked. Time will tell.

Thanks beatlesfanrandy for all of that info on the four reissues and Let It Be.

I always thought it was Paul standing in the way of Let It Be being restored and reissued, but it seems George was the one. I'm still thinking they'll wait until 2020. This year will be reissues of Yellow Submarine and the White Album, next year will focus on Abbey Road.

I hadn't realised Paul had signed a new deal, so it does explain reissuing albums that were out of print. Maybe it makes sense, but I'm still waiting on those "unloved" Wings albums from the '70s, because I still love 'em.

As the wonderful Take It Away podcast has shown, there's so much more to all of those albums and such a depth of unreleased and hard-to-find material.

A friend of mine asked me to ask did anyone in the U.S. order from udiscover music in the U.K. the 4 colored vinyl discs? If so, have you received them yet? They said it would take 10-14 days. Thanks!

I got the Abbey Road  remaster whenever that came out.  I don't notice any difference.  Are Paul's solo reissues remastered or simply reissues of the exact same thing?

I think they’re just reissues in either different colors or black  vinyl.

I bought the Chaos and Thrillington colored vinyl.  Arrived about a week ago.  They sound great though on Chaos there is a lot of crackle on How Kind of You -- horriby distracting.  Has anyone else had the same problem with the Chaos vinyl?
