Technical difficulties

I hope not !! Puter gods, please don't let it be so.

I've never had a problem logging in, but all of the usual problems that popped up as soon as this site was upgraded are still there. I used to wonder how long it was going to take to fix the bugs. Now, I've accepted the fact that this site is infested and no fumigator will ever be called. It's kind of sad that it's going to end like this.
I can't believe that no one is "out there" to address some of these problems. We have to fend for ourselves.

What makes you say something like that? Just because there are a few bugs, they’re not going to permanently shut it down!

I think Hailey McComet meant it might conk out on its own, suddenly vanish into the ethers from being shakey and bug ridden? It quivors at times as if it has the shivers. I think some users don't have the patience to click on those three squares at the top every time trying to see a thread, btw. Those three tabs.

I don’t know what she meant and she hasn’t answered. And you know you really only have to click on 2 - choose Newest, then Apply, then just scroll down to where you last read a post and read scrolling up.

Why is it when you italicize a word, it reverts to normal after 30 minutes?!

Someone, MPL or whoever, is paying money to keep this site online. The main site will likely remain as long as Paul has something to sell, but this forum part does nothing for anyone's bank account. When there were hundreds of people here every day, it served a purpose. Now, the place is practically deserted, even when Paul releases a new album.
Some of you were around 10 or 15 years ago. How active was this forum when he released new albums or announced a new tour? How does that compare with today?

That's true. 10 or 15 years ago there were a lot of people around. Some just left & some were kicked out. "Those were the days my friend" as the song says. I think Facebook has a lot to do with it too.

I just posted this exact message on the thread titled: "WOW! What the heck is going on here?"
I really feel that people might not be visiting this site due to the difficulties of logging in. So, here is the message again, repeated, to reach someone who might help:
Hello out there....is there a tech who is meant to help with the abyssmal log in issues that continue to plague this site? It was once a joy for me to pop in - I now feel increasingly frustrated by the log in process and judging by other posted complaints here I'm not alone.
I am beyond frustrated.....every time I want to visit this site it takes me several attempts to log in. Access denied, access denied, access denied, access denied - then I'm "in"- or so I think, because NOW when I try to get into the 'maccaboard 'I need to log in again, denied, log in, denied - then I'm in....
It is not a password issue, I've the ticked the "remember me" box. It's been happening for months now.
Never had these log in problems with the old site. Nor, the battery drain and the physical heating up of my computer when I visit paulmccartney.com.
Would someone PLEASE kindly look into these tech issues that others here have also taken the trouble to describe?
It would be most appreciated.

^ YEAH what they said.

The latest glitch for me is that I sign in, click on While You Were Away, select a thread, but when I want to go back to the Home page to click on WYWA again, it takes me to the login home page! So I hit the back button and select Community at the top and then Maccaboard. Had to do that twice so far!

Right now a #1 is appearingf on my screen up in the envelope, upper right, but the message was days ago.
Spellchecker should work automatically.
The youtube doesn't last past a half hour or so.
etc.

I still have the problem where I log in, then when I click on Home it takes me to the Login page again! Have to hit back arrow, then click on Community, then click on Maccaboard to be able to proceed!! 🤬

It doesn't seem like anyone is checking on any of these problems.

What does it mean to remove quoted picture. I have no idea why I keep getting that message

It means that when you quote someone like in the Paul picture thread, they want you to remove the picture. So that it's not shown multiple times. I don't know why this board can't resize the pics when they are quoted. It is 2020 you know! If the pics aren't there how are you supposed to know what is being discussed. And yes, I know that you can get the url of the pic & change it to that but what a pain...

Thanks so much for the explanation Oobu, I just realized that if I really like the picture, I seem to forget to erase it...oops You're right, how do you remember which picture is being discussed if it's erased! Thanks!

You're welcome.
It's very strange that there is no one around here to answer any technical questions. This site sure needs some attention.

I wonder if the IT staff at MPL aren't working because of the coronavirus... if no one is doing live performances, no one would be accessing the main MPL site to get permission to use songs etc, and there may be minimum staff there. And it goes without saying all the tech people on his traveling concert staff aren't working as well. Anyway, the IT people at MPL are probably the ones who handle tech issues for this site as well.
But... a lot (if not all) internet work can be accessed from a person's home, as long as they have the proper login credentials, and his social media team seems to still be doing publicity for him on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, etc.
Maybe the glitches on this site have to be fixed by whoever set it up... they could have just been hired/contracted to do it on a temporary basis, and once it was set up they left... so maybe the MPL people are limited in being able to fix it, due to software issues they're not familiar with and they'd need to contact the contracting company that set it up.
Just thinking of possible solutions.
