Rockee Raccoon in St. Paul
-
Female raccoon climbs 25 story building in downtown St. Paul tuesday to see if Gideon had checked back in to help with good Rocky's revival. And yes, he had!!!
-
She sure wasn't in the "black mining hills of Dakota"...must have been lost!
I think it was a female so it wasn't Rocky.
-
No, she was looking for the “black MOUNTAIN hills of Dakota!” (Here we go again!)
-
I just KNEW you'd comment on it!

But of course! Lol!

My grandmother's brother's great granddaughter who was born in the year that Rocky was recorded and released, searched our family history back to us being related to a dynamic Amish Preacher named Gideon. So, I can verify along with Rockee the female raccoon, that Gideon actually did check back in to help with Good Rocky's Revival!!

The Black Hills - which have never in the history of the universe been called the Black Mountain Hills - are on the western end of South Dakota. That's at least a 10 hour drive to St Paul, and has to be a pretty long walk for a raccoon.

You think Paul McCartney knew that when he wrote the song?

Fortunately, Rockee had an Uber pilot friend named... Rocky The Flying Squirrel!
He was going to teach her how to BASE jump, but she got busted...

Maybe he's ignorant of how important the gold mining was to the history of the Black Hills, the Lakota, Custer and all of that, which seems unlikely if he's singing about the Black mining hills of Dakota. I don't know. But does he think any place would be called the Black Mountain Hills? That's like the Nile River Stream or Mediterranean Sea Lake.

Like, I said, here we go again. The lyrics on the the back of the poster say mountain and it always sounded to me like he was saying mountain, not mining hills. Agree to disagree.

Now, that Gideon has checked back in to help with Good Rocky's Revival, everything is coming along well. Whether you're mining for gold or coal in the hills or mountains or not!

I don't understand why you cannot copy & paste. Also why is this NEW site so backwards that it doesn't automatically go to a clickable link.

Sometimes my iPad cooperates and sometimes it doesn’t! I tried to copy the link and nothing happened this time.
Anyway, have seen that article before. Nothing will change my mind, though.

I knew you wouldn't change your mind but it is to inform everyone else!

I stand corrected. He is aware of the history.
"Rocky was me writing, 'It was way back in the hills of Dakota, or Arkansas, in the mining days. And it was tough, picking shovels, and we were underground 24 hours a day'."

I meant he he had no clue whether it should be “mining” or “mountain” hills. That specific line. You notice he mentioned Arkansas?! Lol!
