Well, I've missed some comments in the last week or so.  Out of KC, visiting my children around the country.  I appear to have similiar taste to Boycie.  I like Chaos, but was a bit let down by the tunes.  Not one decent 'rocker' in the bunch.  Always thought Paul was trying to win a Grammy with Chaos.  Saw another comment about the 'terrible' Caesar Rock. Say what?  A three minute rock song that is fast, loud, silly and rocks?  I will take that over "A Certain Softness" eight days a week.  Finally, I can honestly state that I don't go a day or two without listening to something from Egypt Station and now Explorer's Edition with the wonderful "Frank Sinatra's Party", "Sixty Second Street", "Get Enough",  "Get Started", "Nothing For Free"; and the live versions, especially "Confidante" (which I really didn't dig at first last year).

Been away from the site for a few weeks so I'm catching up too.  Thanks for the comments above.  I think you've talked me into getting the Explorer's Edition  with your mini review.  There is enough on Disc 2 to make the purchase worth it.  I will be particularly interested in the live version of Confidante.  Love the song but was never thrilled with Paul's vocal on the studio version.  And of course I want to hear Frank Sinatra's Party and Sixty Second Street.

I think we just have different tastes in music which only really overlap when it comes to Paul. I couldn't even persuade you to come in and see Jocelyn Pook with me. I'm still shocked.

My latest discovery Joshua Lee Turner a young singer-songwriter from the US. very talented. .

I do think Egypt Station and some other Paul albums had they been trimmed to a 12 track album would be all the better for it. Picking what stays and goes would be tough, look at Off The ground, most of the best stuff was left off. 🙂 Josh's album is 10 quality tracks, no clunkers and I can see a great future if a bigger label has the guts to pick him up.

Joshua sounds very confident in his performance. I like the song and he's obviously talented although I suspect if the whole album is voice & guitar then there wouldn't be enough variation to hold my attention. You'll have to start a new topic in the Band on The Run forum. Meanwhile I discovered LEG last year and saw them in London last autumn. They certainly pander to my 'quirky' taste in music.

Back to ES or your comment on trimming albums. Personally I think 10 songs / 45 minutes in the optimum playing time for an album. I remain unconvinced that would have rescued ES though.  When I find time I will give ES another listen  but at the moment I have a backlog of other albums to listen to.

I enjoyed Rapunzel, I like eccentricity that's why I'm a big Kate Bush fan from way back. Much to love2travels chagrin, I don't have that many female artists in my vast music collection.  Josh's album does have variety, I couldn't listen to anything that was too samey.

Funny with albums though, Plastic Soul Man, Chris who you met at Abbey Road wasn't keen on Memory Almost Full 12 years down the line he loves it now, go figure (of 😎 indecision Back to ES, at this time I'm still loving it and I'm hopeful I'll still be enjoying it a few years down the line. The one thing I do hate about ES is the multiple editions out there and it's way over the top. Luckily I have friends to send me the bonus tracks so I can stick to my green rubber band edition and not get sucked into buying yet another version of an album I own. It's a pet hate of mine standard and special editions, just put the one fucking album out and leave it at that for God's sake.

LEG were 13 when they wrote Rapunzel, 15 when they recorded it and 17 when it was released. Jenny & Rosa are now 20...so are getting on abit now !!!

With regards to Chris and MAF, thats how I was with Driving Rain. Very disappointed to begin with, ignored it for a few years, went back to it and loved it. I draw the line with MAF though. It wasn't given away free with a national newspaper for nothing you know.

There can't be many who don't share with you your pet hate. I certainly don't.

Hee hee.  I do feel sorry for Macca though. He is an OAP after all and there's even talk that the government are thinking of scrapping the free tv licence for the elderly, so maybe we've just got to get use to having to buy these multiple editions in the future?

Where did you buy it from and how much? A friend of mine ordered what she thought was going to be the colored vinyl, but it was black so she returned it.

Where did you buy it from and how much? A friend of mine ordered what she thought was going to be the colored vinyl, but it was black so she returned it.

I got it from this UK store:

Thanks! I passed the info on to my friend. She just saw Macca last night in Vegas and today is going to the LOVE show!

The live version of "Confidante" makes a huge difference.  Backup harmonies help considerably.  I never could understand why Paul would release the studio version the way it sounds.  His voice wasn't up to it that day....the producer should have realized it needed work...or for Paul to re-record his vocal on a day when his voice was clear.  I quickly inserted the live version of the song into the album and can listen to it "more comfortably" now.

I don't own the Explorer's Edition, but after reading the comments above, I went and found the live Abbey Road performance of Confidante. While it smooths over some of the rough edges of Paul's vocal on the studio version, I'll take the original anyday. The live version loses a lot of the wistfulness and poignancy of the original. Yeah, you can't avoid the weakness of his voice on that track, but it's still one of my favorite McCartney solo recordings ever.

The reason I've had my computer in a box for over a year. The reason I've had almost a 0 presence online. The reason I retired. He's an very extremely high level hacker who cancelled my order for the Traveller deluxe set, amongst many other evil hacking deeds too numerous to mention.

It's very complex but the high level IT guys I've talked to,really hate this kind of guy.  He somehow acts as me and has done very evil things at my job and now that I've left work, is causing lots of issues.  It's illegal.
