I preordered my copy on Amazon and it is almost ready to be shipped and it says it is arriving on Friday. So I hope I will get it Friday lol! I waited long enough!

As a big time Macca fan, I didn't like his verdict on ES ("minor entry in a major Catalog) but I have to be objective too once I listen to ES. I did like the fact that he mentioned that ES is " for people who like Paul McCartney records". If that is true in the end, I will be plenty satisfied.
BJ, see below from Rolling Stone which is really cool review. I like how he mentions mcCartney has really done some excellent work in the last decade or so. With all these reviews, I think it is safe to say "Egypt Station" is a critical hit !!

The reviews for Egypt Station (ES) have been fantastic as a whole. Like you said, it has been so nice to see many of these reviews mentioning how good Paul's songwriting has been in his "latter era period". Several bring up...from Chaos on. Hopefully, Paul is reading many of these reviews. Even the master himself might have a better realization and appreciation of his own Solo material. Looking at the photographs of many of these music critics, they are decidedly younger and born way after the Beatles.
I also loved the RollingStone review from Rob Sheffield. I have only heard one Egypt Station song besides the 3 singles. That was "Dominoes" on the Sirius Beatles' channel earlier this week. I instantly loved the song (I posted this earlier) and wondered why Paul didn't start with Dominoes as the lead single. Anyway, it was interesting that Mr. Sheffield called "Dominoes" the masterpiece on the album.
Looking at many of the reviews and their descriptions (Mr. Sheffield calls ES "eccentric"), it seems like the album might be more like Ram or in this millenium "Memory Almost Full". I think we might find that ES is an album that as a listener you have to slowly digest rather than inhale. It might be one where the songs will tend to grow with you. Where past top tier albums like Chaos and Band on the Run are the models of consistency, it doesn't seem like ES will be like that since the songs are "all over the place". That's not a bad thing because I liked MAF as much as Chaos. They were opposites in my opinion.
For fans so excited to begin listening to ES, you might have to remember that this is all "new" music. Like with all Paul albums, they are distinct on their own. If you begin listening to ES and are just waiting for the next Band on the Run, you might be disappointed. I like to take in new Paul albums in small doses until I can fully digest the music. I will begin with playing ES in my car as I make my usual local errands.
Earlier this week I heard a guy who got an advance copy of ES and couldn't wait to get his moment of quasi fame on Youtube by giving his review of ES before the masses could buy the album. He admitted he binged on ES for like 3 days. Not surprising he was disappointed in ES. In my opinon, the brain for most people (including me) can only absorb so much of new music. I will definitely take it slowly. As you know, I love to give me track by track reviews, but I probably won't do it for like 3 weeks until I fully absorb all the new music so i can give an objective critique.
Can't wait to pick up ES at Target hopefully tomorrow.

Almost zero chance. He's up against Eminem, scorching the sales charts with an unusual 2 stage release. Digital only last week, with the CD dropping Friday. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=313268
Final numbers aren't in, but I've seen projections of 300K sales digital-only for Eminem the first week. Even if it drops by half despite the edition of the CD version, that would be well over double the first week sales of "New."

If my memory is correct, "New" came in at #3 when it was released. I don't think any of his other recent albums (this century - lol) did better than "New".

In 2013 Paul signed the NEW album for some fans in a store in Oxford Street in London.

I get mine tomorrow downloaded from ITUNES. The only real negative is I have read a couple of reviews mentioning his voice is not what it once was which to us is no surprise but may be to other people. I just wonder if it is noticeable on a studio recording which can help a not so good voice what does this mean for his tour. In the end, I am just thrilled that he still is writing wonderful music and it even appears he is in pretty good form lyrically.

Listened to the whole album twice, of course I'll need to hear it on my bose system, but my initial thoughts...
After hearing the entire album... McCartney's voice sounds really good.
I Don't Know
Come On To Me
Back In Brazil, are good.Who Cares is better, I like the guitars but it's way too short and could have used a guitar solo.
Hunt You Down/Naked/C-link is my fave on the album. Something finally really rocks and the changes and McCartney's guitar playing add to the mix.
Seems Like the bass playing isn't as prominent throughout as I'd like.The rest just didn't do anything for me, Despite Repeated Warnings has a nice middle section but for me it's a disappointment.
I don't hear anything on this album as good as the best of McCartney solo.I'll listen again on a much better system, was really looking forward to it and had high hopes, but for me this album is just okay, not as good as MAF or New. Not enough in the rock direction, really wish McCartney would get a producer that understood that.

Does anyone know how we can check the status of our PM.com store order? I ordered the Deluxe Colored Vinyl LP, and then created an account much later (so it's not in my "Orders" section of my account now--my order for Spotify green vinyl is though).
I have the order number but can't seem to find anywhere to check its status and see if it's shipped yet (and get a tracking number if it has)

That is EXACTLY my problem. I emailed Universal (I think, I'd have to check) but they sent a standard reply & assigned me a case # and basically said don't write again or you'll go to the end of the line. Really weird.

I know many say they do not like Fuh You but I listened to it today again and that song makes me want to get up hold my hands in the air and sway back amd forth to the melody of the song I love it! I can't wait ro get this album!

It's hard to find -- looked 3 times before I found it. But if you hover over the Store tab, a drop-down menu with several choices appears. Click on Merchandise Store. Go to that page, scroll down to the bottom and look for "Contact Us" under "Customer Service." It's ridiculously hard to find. In any case... That page has a "Where is my order?" button that should let you check the status with the order number and zip or postal code. But when I did it, it didn't work!!!! Next to it there's a series of fields where you can put in your name, email, etc. and contact them, and that appeared to work. Good luck.

Im really looking forward to everyone getting their copies and sharing their opinions. I got mine a day early so I've listened to it three times now and im really enjoying it. its definitely a grower. its quite ecentric in places, which is always a plus for me
Its pretty consistent song quality-wise, but for me there is a little dip in the middle of the album with a couple of songs that dont do much for me, but they're not BAD by any means.highlights for me so far are Dominoes, Caesar Rock and Hunt You Down/Naked/C-Link. There are a lot of growers on there too, so that list will definitely expand the more I listen.
I was struck as well by how many of the songs would be really great live. Who Cares for example. But i'm not holding my breath!
anyway, that's my early take on it. cant wait to hear what everyone else thinks!

Been enjoying it so far, sounding very fresh and very different to NEW! The guitar playing on Happy With You reminds of Put It There. I'm about to go out to my local record shop to get the vinyl & they have also ordered the CD in (just for me)

9 o'clock in the morning HMV door opens and the geezer "that was lucky" i replied "it was planned". He looked at me as if i was a weirdo ( i am but that is inconsequential) and watched me walk not foor feet to the Lp and cd stand with EGypt Station on it and said "haha i get it now". All the time whilst I Don't Know was playing, yes a little bit of the old excitement was coarsing thru me. Buought the deluxe version at £12.99 then tried to read the track listing, and decided poundland it is for the quid specs. So thought whislt it was playing i would do a browse was very retrained for me got an A.Franklin and Joan Amtrading best of for a tenner. Both artists I have on comps so quite pleased with that purchase and looking forward to playing them maybe by sunday.
Left during the playing of fuh you, pain was really beginining to kick in and had poundland and sainsburys to do before home. First impressions of the 5 songs or so i heard well seems to a must have for any macca fan or beatle fan, so the pain was worth it, not as good as hearing some tracks off NEW at the radio two recording a few years ago. Plus we must support local record shops. I dont think i have been in their for a year or more but that is due to my disabilities and in the days before the internet and since record shop staff have been great to me.
Not taken the morphine sypruh pain killer ass it works but makes you fuzzy headed like a little drunk , so just waiting for pain to subside and listen to the album clear headedly.

Listened to it 3 times now and I am impressed. Far better than New for me. Highlights are Who Cares, Happy With You, Hand in Hand, I Don't Know and Hunt /Naked/C link. Some other great tracks but could live without Back in Brazil and Fuh You. Overall very happy!
