I'm thrilled Macca plays Paris again, in just a few days! Being a longtime Francophile (as well as Anglophile) I get a special kick out of it when Paul and Band perform in France. Paris is no doubt special to him as the Fabs were playing The Olympia in Paris when they first got word they had a number one hit in the States. And for other reasons. Brigitte Bardot (Laughs), for one.

So, will there be a meet-up before or after the concert? It's always fun meeting some fellow fans for these occasions.

"You just don't get it, do you? An army is nothing! 'Cause those ordinary people, they're the key. The most ordinary person could change the world!"

I'll be there too...this could be the last time !

Got a "stressful" email yesterday saying the show started at 8:00pm and that it was advised to get there ASAP as security would be tight...Gates open at 6:00pm apparently.

PS - as a side note, this version of the forum is really pi$$ poor compared to the old one, hard to follow any conversation properly, errors everywhere, shows how much MPL cares about the "community" I suppose, outside of figuring out how much to milk the fans to the max.

They send those "arrive early" emails for the shows in the US and Canada, too. I think it's just a standard message.  Have a great time and please report back!

I got the same email, arrived in Paris today i will aim to get to arena for around 6.30/7pm. I agree the old forum was better. Enjoy the show !

Loads of excitement and anticipation...this Paris outing is tomorrow night !  It said on Paul's "home" page here that French audiences can get right wild, so the Band and he are really antsy to playGay Paree again. Made me think of always hearing that the Japanese are quiet, reserved and decorus; yet looks like they raised the roofs for Paul's recent gigs in Japan! So one wonders just how loud and ecstastic the French will be to see him again, since they're said to top them all. Well, not quite, looks like Latino audiences go all out to the max too, perhaps even more. Right now I'm focused on the French Fries

                  Hi all!

I’m desperately looking for 2 ‘parterre or’ tickets for tonight in Paris. Anybody who can help me? Please e-mail me on mbwentink@gmail.com

                  Thanks!

Not sure how wild the audience will be able to sound tonight, this is after all an indoor rugby stadium with a roof that's very HIGH ! It didn't strike me when I saw the Stones last year but for Roger Waters in June there was this subdued "noise reduction" feel when you walking into the stadium.

Anyway, time to be on my way for my 9th Macca concert since 1989 and, well I'll say it, likely the last one. Even this one was a bit of a stretch TBH...after I went "all in" with a "Soundcheck" in 2016 and managed to grab a spot on the rail, impossible to top that. Had I not managed to get a seat on the floor I would have given it a miss.

Is the tour book sold at the Paris concert written in English or in French?

Have just returned from Paris concert, very enjoyable Paul on good form and crowd were into it! Highlights for me were Let em in, GTGYITML and From me to you, and the horns give it that extra edge works really well. Only minor quibbles i would have prefered we can work it out and i saw her standing there but as ive heard them in previous shows then cant really complain. Im not sure if i will Paul in concert again but if not then what a journey its been .

That song is definitely a good use of the horns.   Glad you enjoyed the show!

Ooh la la, " Fuh You" in France, Mercie Beaucoup oobu !! He performed that so adorable and sexy with all the eloquent hand gestures and priceless facial expressions and his hair shaped perfectly and gleaming, he's so sexy on stage !! So cute how they thought the number was ended and then suddenly it was resumed ! That smokey blue light on stage is evocative of Paree and befits that song lyric which is perhaps a tad "bleu" LOL.  And Paul was in the spotlight yet again with it beamed exclusively on him for that, super. "I just wanna" see more vids from this prestigious Paris gig ! I feel they could have done "Back in Brazil" there and it would go over well there. (Maybe saving it for Latin America.) I partly wish he had worn a striped tee and a beret; would that have been too corny? Or had various costume changes, but he wanted the focus on the music, not fashions, of course. Although it was France.  That number was really boppin'

That was a good show indeed, same highlights there, LEI and FMTY, songs I hadn't heard live of course 😉 These horns did pack a lot of punch and it was a nice update for a show that's basically been the same since 2009. Glad we got spared the Jimmy Hendrix story this time around. Also interesting that he keeps refering to John as his "friend" and to George as his "baby brother" (works a bit better as "frérot" in French)...well he won't change now.

When ES came out in September and seeing the "tired/corny" NYGC perforamnce I thought this would be the last "New Album/New Tour" sequence but now I'm not so sure, the man's a legend who makes us feel like we're still 20 ! Rock on !

You Tube had a video of the whole concert last night in Paris.  First time I saw a recent Macca show (from beginning to end) in several years.

For first timers (or even 2nd timers) I can see where Macca still gives a great show and believe it  or not...great bang for the buck.  For fans that are Beatle fans first (over Paul Solo), the variety of songs that Paul/Band plays is staggering.  He goes from one of the first songs the fabs recorded (In Spite of all the Danger) to 3 songs from Paul's latest album...Egypt Station.  They go on to play a nice dose of early Beatles (Love Me Do, From Me To You, Michelle, I've Just Seen a Face) to mid and later Beatle periods (I've Got a Feeling, Eleanor Rigby, Got To Get You Into My Life, Birthday, Seargent Pepper,  Back in the USSR, Ob La Di etc.).  He also mixes in the Wings' hits...Band on the Run, 1985, Live and Let Die, Maybe I'm Amazed, Let them In etc.).

For fans like me (have seen Paul a Dozen times) it still would have been very good as long as I wasn't paying $200.00 0r so.  I don't want to turn this into a set list debate so let me tell you what I liked and disliked about one of his current shows.

                                      Likes

                                      1. I liked the "live horns" addtion.  I really liked when they played "Got to Get You into my Life".  It sounded so much better.  The song rocked!  I also liked when they did "Letting Go" with the horns.  Again, it gave "life" to the song.  Letting Go in my opinion is one of Paul's best 70's songs and there are a lot of them.

                                      2. I also liked one of his newest additions...From Me To You.  It felt right at place during the acoustic section

                                      3.  Paul sounded great on both Blackbird and Here Today.  His vocals were spot on.

                                      4. Paul sounded really good on one of the new ES songs...Come On To Me.  The horns again sounded great live and this addition made the song better and not so repetitive.  Again it rocked!

                                      5. I've never seen Paul do Queenie Eye in the past.  This is probably my 2nd favorite song on New (after Early Days) and Queenie Eye sounded and looked great.  I always love it when Paul does a Solo song but it just sounded especially good even on You tube.  The video also seemed quite good if you were there.

                                      6. Junior's Farm..Paul and the Band always seem to do this one great.

                                      7.  Who Cares...One of my favorites on ES.  Thank God he is adding this one to the Setlist

                                      8. Michelle...Since they were playing in Paris, it wasn't a surprise.  What was a surprise is how well Paul sang it.  Great version

                                      9. In Spite of all the Danger and Love Me Do...one of my favorite portion of the show is the acoustic section.  Both of these songs had the crowd going and I always love to see Paul doing the guitar solo on "Danger".

                                      Dislikes

                                      1. The songs that are not signature songs that Paul continues to play.  Proably the biggest culprit is "Let Me Roll it".  It goes on too long and Paul still struggles vocally on it

                                      2.  While it is definitely a "signature song", Paul is still performing Maybe I'm Amazed.  He has been struggling with the vocals on MIA for years.

                                      3. Only 3 songs from Egypt Station and only one of them are among  my favorites on ES.  I will admit that they did a very good job on "Come On To Me" (with the addition of the horns it rocked live and didn't sound so repetitive)but why is Paul playing Fuh You.  I guess he is still trying to make a hit of the song but it never did "take off" on the charts (which was the main reasons it was included on ES I guess. Yes the song is catchy but the lyrics are awful.  I say this because he has so many far better songs on ES and to this point he has ignored them.  How does he not play Happy With You, Dominoes or People Want Peace.  Just  a shame in my opinion.  I would go to one of his US shows next year if he was playing a few of the great songs on ES but it just looks as though he is going to stick to just the 3 songs.  It is baffling to me considering the album go so many great reviews (and Fuh You wasn't a highlight for sure).

Anyway and as I said, for the 1st or 2nd timers who have never heard Paul sing Beatle songs live, it is an AWESOME SHOW.

Enjoyed your review you make some good points, the horns really do make a difference. Also they have changed the rolling screens that appear before Paul comes on, given a 'Freshen up'!
