So I suddenly had the urge to look at this video and it brought back those magic feelings of my "first" Paul concert (Wembley January 1990). Those memories...... Linda flying above the stage during Coming Up.....Paul spinning around with "that" Piano up in the air during Fool on the Hill......the banter on stage...the harmonies that have never been bettered.......the canons (yes canons) for Live and let Die........Pauls best ever vocals......the house lights coming on at the start of Can Buy Me Love...the audience errupted into a frenzy and from 10 rows from the front you could see Pauls astonishment!....and of course Linda! I know I know!!! there will be those that disagree....but take a look if you can at the energy on that tour.......it has put a smile on my face today . Happy New Year

I saw this tour in LA for three shows. It was fantastic and magical! Paul had not been in a US stage for thirteen years! The 1993 tour had the same energy! Paul's shows these days are fantastic and exciting, but he is 70 and not 50 anymore. That is a difference.

Agreed! A lot had to do with the band he was touring with. The current band was good for the '02 tour, but they've been going through the motions the last few tours. I know its been debated which band was better, but there WAS something magical with Hamish and Robbie thats missing with todays lineup.

My least favourite tour was '93, saw it twice, too many crappy Off The Ground songs dragging it down. :

From all the live footage I have watched I have to agree, it's a shame he toured such a mediocre album so heavily!

I liked OFF THE GROUND and found that tour more energetic and exciting than the more recent tours. I mean, at least everyone remember HOPE OF DELIVERANCE. No one, except hardcore fans on this forum, remembers any of the tunes off the LPs McCartney toured to promote in the 2000s. Plus, the set list for 1993 was a radical departure from 89/90. Can't say that about recent tours. The 93 tour had an electric atmosphere, I remember watching CNN cover the opening night in Las Vegas. 2002 had some excitement, then 2005 some as well. Since then, not so much, except here and the cities where he played. I think the 1993 tour was amazing! I suspect naysayers are people who didn't even attend the 93 tour and only started seeing Paul live in 2002.

There's no need to get quite so defensive! I agree that excitement has been lacking post 2005, it's just I don't like Off the Ground very much, the MAF tracks in '07 and Chaos tracks in '05 were much stronger.

Relax. Expressing a view different from yours is not defensive. It is just a different opinion. I respect you did not like OFF THE GROUND. I did like it. Frankly I have not liked, nor listened to more than once, most of McCartney's offerings in the 2000s, such as DRIVING and CHAOS. That's just my opinion. I do like MEMORY ALMOST FULL. I still love ONLY MOMMA KNOWS, but cannot name or sing one tune off the previous two. I am hopeful McCartney will deliver a better LP in 2013 than he has in a long time and a new tour as well.

Actually the US portion of the New World Tour was shorter than originally planned. An additional 9 to 12 cities scheduled for later in June into July (on the third leg of the U.S. tour) were cancelled due to some unannounced reason.

From all the live footage I have watched I have to agree, it's a shame he toured such a mediocre album so heavily!

Actually the US portion of the New World Tour was shorter than originally planned. An additional 9 to 12 cities scheduled for later in June into July (on the third leg of the U.S. tour) were cancelled due to some unannounced reason.

I remember reading that too. I believe it was because ticket sales were soft for the first leg of the tour. Imagine that!

A little difficult for me to believe that. I saw him in a 40,000+ football stadium in April '93. And it was a sold-out show.
