Idea for UK Small Shows
-
Maybe Paul could invite UK fans on his website to buy one ticket each to a special UK fan-only show. That would be wonderful. Wonder how big it would have to be? Better still, Paul could do a whole stint of them - one every week or so - so that everybody could get a chance to see him in a small venue. He could play his new album or a kind of McCartney less-played song symphony at the small gigs. Maybe if he did enough small shows of this nature, he could meet each fan individually, which might make him happy and further stimulate his creativity ... you just never know! That's a wish of mine.

it's a nice idea, one that i think most of us have dreamt of over the years... but i think he's never going to do it.. and it's just not do-able nowadays -the short lived premium membership came and went without a UK show (apart from the rah charity one) and after that it was scrapped and back to the free for all of *anyone* registered with pm.com getting presale access, and you could register even after the tour announcement. Having seen 3rd row centre liverpool tickets on a resale site for £1795.00 each - yes that's almost £2000.00 for one ticket - tickets that will have been bought on the pm.com presale or from the venues presale (that was also advertised as people on their mailing list - but they gave away the link and code on their twitter for the world to use instead)... well having seen that legally being done, i give up, i feel like it's over, touts have won, pm.com and sites don't seem to mind after all do they? So how a small gig would be workable is impossible
Yes we can all say have photo ID, do it like Kate Bush, etc etc, but it seems pm.com or bascially anyone inc the venues doesn't really care who gets them, as long as someone buys them. (Yes, i'm a bit negative after the last 2 days of presales, sorry!)

It doesn't sound as if Paul McCartney is getting the money for these re-sales, so perhaps his organisation will try to do something about it. Let's hope so.

That would be cool. As long as he does some in NY too, haha
!! Would be cool to see him do what Billy Joel is doing- once-a-month residency at a major arena.
-
Yes, that would be good too. He could simply play one gig a month in whatever city he is living near. With unusual or all-new songs each time! Hey, Paul, you listening? We would love to hear you play your new and experimental songs...
-
I like the idea, but I think a weekly show might be a little difficult for Paul to manage with his busy tour schedule. I, of course, wouldn't be opposed to a small venue performance with Paul playing his lesser-known gems! -Rubber Soul13

Paul has proven he will do the odd 1,000 seat venue in NYC or London, so more of that could be in the future. For those cities. As was already mentioned, when he tires of the road, I can see him doing six shows a year at that big arena in London and 6 shows a year at Madison Square Garden.

I've seen him at a small gig at the accademy in liverpool and it was not as spiritual as others I have attended such as Anfield or Hamdon Park. For me I'd love to see a proper solo gig just Paul and a guitar

The Academy O2 in Liverpool was my fave show. I like the idea of theatre and club shows.

I couldn't agree more with your statement! The last two mornings trying to buy good seats has been very frustrating and we all know where the A Block seats have gone, yes to the vile creatures called scalpers, bastards indeed! Love2travel and i both have been on trying to get the best seats to no avail! Also seeing £140.00 tickets at the back is truly appalling as well.

I actually feel sick with myself after paying £140 for crappy tiered seating near the back. I wish I hadn't done it now. Much as I love him, i'm disgusted at having just paid this!! Can't even be excitecd that I will be seeing him!

Paul does play small venues from time to time - for 300 or so at the 100 Club, 600 or so at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, the Roundhouse and ICA in London, plus the odd television show such as Jools Holland. So he can't be accused of not playing small gigs in his later years. The trouble is, from his point of view, so many people want to see him and so many people work for him. His entourage is gigantic. It's really Paul McCartney Corporation now. He refers to himself as 'we' now when he talks about his gigs. This is all simply the result of extreme success. He must really pay attention if he is to support the people who aren't wealthy who support him. One just has to consider it all in the light of the whole star and celebrity thing. Many people go to see him once and pay a great deal for it simply because it's a one-off for them and because he's an icon of our age. They just want to see a star and don't really care about the music or anything. That's just the way it is - there's no reason to get angry with anyone except the giant venues, ticket touts and managers who rip people off high and low - and the rich famous types and corporations buying blocks of tickets for employees and paying top dollar for them without a blink of an eye. Maybe if Paul played in a meadow somewhere as non-famous people did in the hippie days, it would be great for everyone, but I don't believe Paul has had that sort of low profile since he was about 17! I'm all for going back to that, but ... how? Maybe Paul and his entourage might have some ideas?

yep, wound me up so much i took screenshots! Though the dearest one is gone now, so it's either been sold (?!!!!!!) or they reduced it! HOW can they have the downright nerve to ask that much??
I hope no one in their right mind, no matter how rich they might be, would pay it. Cos if anyone pays it, then the touts feel justified. It's a disgrace.

That really has to stop. Why can't his "we" do something about it?

Oh i wasn't accusing him of not playing, i just mean apart from the odd one off as you say he just doesn't seem to have the desire to do a string of proper theatre dates, like a tour. I was lucky to see him at the roundhouse in 07, and liverpool in 2010, and the rah in 12, they were great shows - but it was still him and the band just without the screens - it's not like it was a different show or acoustic (but hey i loved it!!!)
-
he did the Apollo and the rrha. both great shows appollo was the better, comfy seat, not 10 flights of stairs and did not have an hour of crap before.

ok i posted screenshots of how much it was, to highlight the problem and the fact that they're offical sites so it shows that the promoters and pm.com don't care. And what happens? My post gets edited by admin and i get a pm warning me not to post stuff like that. So i guess the people in charge would rather sweep under the carpet the problem of touts, rather than us moan about the fact that pm.com presale tickets are being sold for 10x face value. My post was only trying to highlight the problem and show someone in charge the rip off and no chance that fans get. So i give up. You win. Not posting anymore. (yes, i know, that sounds childish! Not meant to... but it seems i can't win. So not going to bother anymore)

^ It seems they don't care, as long as we don't talk about it and pretend the problem doesn't exist
(and that was my last post, i promise!!) (not doing a long farewell tour..!)

He has done lots of these in the past, mainly for fan club members over the years i have seen him do full shows in the following small venues. Playhouse Theatre, London - 2 Nights Elstree Studios Mean Fiddler, London St. Austel Colliseum, Cornwall Cliffs Pavillion, Southend Docklands Arena, London ICA, London Roundhouse, London etc
