I love those 57 Chevy Bel Air's, they look like mean cars that speed with bad intentions!
I loved it and so did my girlfriend then. I did the interior in black and put mahogany wood paneling in the door panels and had thrush nufflers on it. My girlfriend worked as a waitress at a local cafe. I always associate "It Don't Come Easy" with her because it was on the jukebox and newly out. I was a hotrodder at times, but also a conscientious driver. I went on to be a professional driver and learned how to dodge all the drunken idiots with their bad and mean, irresponsible intentions.
Those 57 Chevy Bel Air's are the classic of classic cars, I wished that I owned one in my lifetime!
Yes they were! I also bought a 57 chevy wagon from my waitress girlfriend's brother and then sold it to a friend who later also bought a T-10 57 chevy. Loved that period of time and all the great music too!!!
I had two friends that owned 57 Chevy Bel Air's fixed up and Chromed to the max! Both had high performance 283 cu. motors and were FAST!

Yep, 283s were often times bored out to 301s
and then 327s came along. I used to speed shift so fast from 1st to 2nd that it would pull the driver's side front tire an inch or two off the concrete. Friends of mine verified it.

The 350's were great motors but the 327's were better since they had a quicker stroke cycle. Its too bad that Chevrolet discontinued the 327's in 1968, however, the 307's and 350's kept Chevrolet going through the 70's along with the big block 400's and 454's. I think the 396's and 427's were discontinued in the 60's if I'm not mistaken since the 454 debuted in 1970. Help me out on this one SurSteven.

Sounds pretty good jl! "She's real fine my 409! " After my teen years I pretty much mellowed out on my hot rodding. I sold the 57 to a friend who loved it so much that he cruised around in it all the time with his girlfriend. I bought a 59 Chevy pickup to haul stuff and was into the new Ecology movement. I and my girlfriend wouldn't let anyone riding with us throw trash or anything out of the window.

Thanks, it was a very nice pick up with a 261 6 cylinder and 4 speed with Granny low. It is the one that the clutch and pressure plate froze together on, when it got down to -26F one night.

Those were the good old days when you could "do it yourself" when it came to working on cars and trucks!

JL is dealing with a family member who needs care. He says Hi I'm sure...

I'll tell him... he's really been doing alot of running around.
That was a nice GTO that you had!
That 280 sure was nice too! I remember those!! Reminded me of a car not as nice, but it still had that long front so many cars had back then. My high school boyfriend wanted us to buy a Lotus Europa. When you got into it, you were in a reclining position almost. It was so very low to the ground, it kept bottoming out everywhere. We didn't get it, probably was a good thing...

My Mom owned a 69 Buick Skylark and she loved to speed in that car. I was 10 years old, my friend and I decided to take the car out for a joyride without my Mom knowing about it and I ended up totalling the car! BOY WAS MY MOM ANGRY AT ME to put it mildly!
As my great-grandmother would say, you were a “caution!”
I can't disagree with your great-grandmother!
ROTFLMAO!
What can I say? All I can say is that I never think about the consequences while I'm in the moment!
As in driving off a cliff...
Wheeeeeeeee

I remember those! They looked cool! My dream car was a Datsun 260-Z. I wanted one in 1974, but they were $5000, so I had to settle for a $3000 Chevy Vega! It was pretty neat though - maroon with white faux leather interior and a stick shift. 2-door hatchback. I guess that's why I love my 2-seater 2016 Honda CR-Z hatchback!

oobu had made 2 of these "The Beatles" stickers for me and I put the 2nd one on my "new" 2016 Honda CR-Z. My son totalled my 2011 CR-Z (Not his fault! I got $7809 for the car because it only had 37,900 miles on it!)

We didn't tell my parents how much we paid for that Z. We were married & living in an apartment above them at the time & we know they'd be shocked at the price. We had to be on a waiting list to get it. That's how popular they were.
That Lotus looks very weird! LOL!

Was it a 240, 260 or 280-Z? My roommate in college ('73-'74) had a 240-Z.
