It cost around $10 million to get the rights for the Beatles' songs to be featured in the film.
I posted on The Beatles Mentioned On TV that the director said (on The Graham Norton Show) that the $10 million was the 2nd largest amount he’d paid out on a film. The 1st was Leonardo DiCaprio’s salary (in The Beach, which was $20 million!)

Ringo didn’t make up the phrase “Eight Days A Week” - that was Paul’s driver’s remark after Paul asked him how he was doing. He said he’d been working eight days a week.

Curiously, McCartney had previously remembered the quote as coming from Ringo Starr.
