Love In Song
-
Love In Song is one of my favourite Wings tracks which owing to a total lack of any live performances, has, I feel, been unfairly neglected over the last 44 years.
'My eye cries out a tear still born misunderstanding' has to be one of the most evocative lines Paul has ever written.
Recorded in November 1974 in Studio 2 at Abbey Road, Love In Song is beautifully sung (by Paul) and played by Paul, Linda, Denny, Jimmy McCulloch and Geoff Britton. Its unfortunate that the YT photo montage has the wrong line-up depicted.
Any other fans of Love In Song?

The lyrics of this song are hauntingly beautiful. I could spend hours analyzing the words, but I'm sure everyone listening to it could find their own interpretation. I think they speak about happiness at finding true love, and forgetting the pain of being alone and misunderstood before then. (If that makes sense

Yes, that does make sense.

Thanks! It's always easy to feel something when listening to one of Paul's songs, but not as easy to explain in words what the lyrics could mean
everyone could have a different interpretation. That's great though, everyone should have a different interpretation, and identify with a song in their own way. That's all part of the creative process

Definitely an underrated song! Beautiful lyrics:

....and singing from Paul. He sounds very restrained, even on the chorus. Totally different lyrically but it almost sounds like a companion piece to the Venus and Mars , recorded a few months later.

It's a great song on what I think is generally an underrated album -- but was always the Wings album I listened to most. And one of a long, long list of great songs Paul's never played live. Sigh...

Meh. Great memory of skipping school in spring 1975 to pick up Venus And Mars at the closest record store at 9am. My buddies each bought the album and tape; ran to the car and literally rocked to Venus and Mars/Rock Show. Then next came Love In Song. Meh. Then the next song came on, You Gave Me The Answer. Yikes. Two slow uniteresting songs in a row! Thank goodness Magneto and Letting Go saved the ride home.

Oh, yeah! Love that song.....everything about it. With Paul, he has so many good ones that just get lost. He's kind of a victim of his talent, his immense gift for melody that is taken for grantid. This is one of those.

Well, I will agree with you on "You Gave Me the Answer." It's Paul giving in to his love/weakness for ditties. Love In Song, however, is gorgeous. There is nothing meh about it.

Yes, every song he wrote is a special creation in its own way. Not many people can put words and music together like that so perfectly, and beautifully.

Yes, there is nothing "meh" about this song, or Paul. If anything, the perfect word for him would be "Yeah!"
His positive attitude and enthusiam for life and making great music has always been an inspiration.
