Although I would love to listen to remastered CHOBA and the AMOEBA sounds vaguely interesting to me, and the "Paul is Live" does have one of the nicest live versions of "Here There Everywhere," I don't understand how Wings Over America is also being re-released, not because it isn't good-it's  arguably the bes tof the bunch, but I would have preferred a remastering of Tripping or  even Unplugged: A nice box set of CHOBA, Unplugged and Tripping would have been nice, as these albums I believe were tied closely together.

But, i'm not going to complain, and will most likely forgo vinyl variations and fget the CD's

PS: if Wings over America somehow manages to get another remastered treatment ( I did not care for the last remaster) then I will pick that up too.

I'm guessing Wings Over America is included because it hasn't been reissued since Paul returned to Capitol, so this just puts it back into print.  Since it just was remastered about five years ago, it was probably deemed not necessary to do again, which gives us the straight reissue.  Capitol did this I think last year with all of the archived albums to date, I think except for Tug Of War and Pipes Of Peace.  They also did straight reissues of Thrillington, Chaos, and New, and a reissue of Wings Greatest, which gave us the first remastered version of the full-length With A Little Luck and the single edit (without the cross-fade) of Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.

I suspect that this release means that we won't be getting the deluxe treatments of CHOBA and Paul Is Live, at least not anytime soon.  I sort of get why they are issuing the 11 track CHOBA, but now they are essentially creating three orphan tracks from the 14 track international release.  At any rate, I have pre-ordered CHOBA and Paul Is Live on CD, since I am a CD guy.  But I have pre-ordered Amoeba's gig in both CD and vinyl, since the vinyl has the extra track.  I am a sick person in my attempt to collect everything (as probably many of us are).

I had also kind of hoped that we'd get Paul Is Live is some sort of deluxe set with either Off The Ground or Tripping.  It's just hard to figure out what the strategy is.  But for me, I'd honestly like them just to go back and go through chronologically to fill in the gaps - hoping for the 1977-1979 set next.

On Saturday our neighbourhood had a community lawn/garage sale. One couple had a pile of vinyl/cd's including quite a few from the 60's/70's including some Beatles & McCartney. I ask the woman why she's selling these. Her reply "They were my Dad's who recently passed away & I have no need for them". So as we Baby Boombers & music collectors start to get old, frail & losing our marbles keep in mind that our treasured collections may end up at garage sales, flea markets or Ebay. Oh! I did pick up a near mint original Apple pressing of Ram for $5.00. Coming 'not to soon' to a garage sale or flea market.

My kids know better than to sell my Beatles stuff in a garage sale. My son especially will hopefully benefit by selling the stuff at auction or on eBay as his retirement fund.  He is also inheriting my dad’s extensive stamp collection of “First Flight Covers.”  My daughter has already started a 401K 9 years ago and has a much higher paying job than my son, but we’ll see what happens in the future.

Any idea why Paul is reissuing previous live albums but isn't releasing any of the pre-Wings over America Live tracks? I know there are some unofficial albums available but I would love a high quality recording of any or all of the early solo/wings songs like the Wings over Europe but is there more than just those 20 tracks?

He released the Wings Over Europe songs on the 1971-1973 set. He really should have issued that separately as well.

I appreciate the releases, but I do wish we would get a more contemporary release of live music. There are a lot of tracks since the "Up and Coming Tour" that would be welcome to have for the first time officially.

Out There- Orlando 2013, DC 2013, Salt Lake City 2014, New Orleans 2014, Philadelphia 2015

One on One- Hershey 2016, Miami 2017

                      Absolutely agreed...100%

Even something like the Grand Central Station gig would make a good live album as it's heard on the official YouTube release.

I'd love to have something like a new version of "Back in the US" or "Paul Is Live" with highlights of different concerts. In this decade alone, we've had a lot of new additions: "Another Girl", "Eight Days a Week", "A Hard Day's Night", "From Me to You", "Love Me Do", "The Night Before", "Your Mother Should Know", "Lovely Rita", "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite", "Temporary Secretary", plus all the live material from "NEW" and "Egypt Station".

"And your inspiration long may it last..."

                      5/31/22 - Knoxville

                      7/26/17 - Tinley Park

                      7/25/17 - Tinley Park

                      8/14/14 - San Francisco

                      7/9/14 - Chicago

                      7/16/13 - Milwaukee

                      7/14/13 - Indianapolis

                      5/26/13 - Memphis

                      11/11/12 - St. Louis

Amoeba Gig Released in Full Today

Listening to this for the first time now... WOW.

                        (a) Paul's voice was still in as great a shape as it was in 2002 here. The shred in the middle of "That Was Me" is just brilliant. He does admirably these days, and his band does a great job papering over the cracks, but it's not a patch on his '02-'09(?) voice.

                        (b) The sound quality of the release is excellent. All the instruments sounding clear as a bell in a balance that serves the music, unlike GENYC which blends Rusty, Brian, and Wix into a mushy synth bed behind whatever Paul is playing. I remain baffled by that one, because Back in the US/World sounded excellent, so it's not like Paul has some preference for bad sounding live albums.

                        (c) It's great to hear Paul so relaxed and informal. He's never been good at extemporizing on stage, but here it sounds like he's just playing a few songs at a friends' party. I love it.

This release really makes me want a '13-'19 collection mixed by whoever did this one. Take the Paul is Live approach and throw out all the things we've had before (barring those which have had notably evolved arrangements, e.g. the current Let Me Roll It is far more interesting than the '02 version, mostly down to Rusty finding ever more countermelodies to bring out).

I keep thinking this as well. This is a missed opportunity for sure. Off the top of my head (I’m sure others can help), these songs would be unique live versions:

8 Days a Week , Hard Days Night, Save Us, Juniors Farm, Another Girl, Temporary Secretary, I’ve got a feeling, paperback writer, I’m Looking Through You, lovely Rita, mr kite, in spite of all the danger, love me do, from me to you, new, I want to come home, come and get it, my valentine, 1985, night before, another day, queenie eye, here there everywhere, hi hi hi, all together now, day tripper, Golden slumbers melody.

Thats 27 right there. Add some cool sound check songs too.

Up and Coming- Las Vegas 2011

The Amoeba Gig sounds great, really great, except of course for one thing. Not ONE Wings tune. Really? Sorry, C-Moon doesn't count.  In that enviroment, how cool would "Jet", "Junior's Farm", "Beware My Love", etc.,  have sounded?  "Matchbox" and "Baby Face" instead of "Band On The Run", "Girl's School", or "Rock Show"?

"If you want the Beatles, go see Wings"-George Harrison 1974

"This is for all the Wings fans!" - McCartney introducing "1985" for the first time on American soil (Phoenix 2010)

My local record shop had the Amoeba Gig AND Paul is Live vinyl copies so I picked up both. I had to get PIL as that was my 1st concert. I've listened to both but have to say that I am especially impressed with Amoeba! Wow, what a vibe and what a concert! This recording is now my favourite post Wings live album! LUV LUV LUV it!
