Crank / telemarketer phone calls
-
It's getting to the point of ridiculous... I don't answer any calls anymore if I don't recognize the number.
Was getting calls on my home phone almost every day, no one said anything, just a call and no message. Started to wonder if it was someone trying to see if I was home...

They are wanting to know if the number actually belongs to someone and then of course if you answer, they know you’re home. Also, if you say hello and someone says “Can you hear me?” never say “Yes.” They are wanting to record you agreeing to something. I flat out told one guy “I’m not going to answer that question” when he asked me something else that he obviously wanted me to say “Yes” to. I hung up on him and he called back! My 88 year old mom answered and he asked her why I hung up on him! He started giving her some spiel and she hung up on him! Thankfully he didn’t call back.

I didn't know not to say yes... wow
I don't answer calls I don't recognize and people know to text me, period. No VM from people I don't know. That stopped everything. LOL I got a text today saying my Nike's were delivered. Totally bogus. It's so crazy with all the phoney emails and things asking for you to click, or fake downloads so your phone can get hacked. Every site I go on now asks me to click something! Time for my next phone!! It's like being at my old job!!!

A telemarketer called me a few weeks ago. I spoke to him in Arabic. None have called me since.
That's pretty good!
I think any language that is foreign to them would work. Arabic is effective because Americans are so afraid of it.
I don't know another language so I'll have to stick with just hanging up on them.
It was getting better for a little while but now the telemarketer calls are back in full swing.
In China, just speaking to them in English used to be good enough. When I first moved here, I had legitimate calls hang up on me when I answered in English. Now, the telemarketers hire people who can speak English.
