Anyone could walk past and hear the soundcheck when he played Park HaYarkon in 2008. It was impossible to see anything, but the music soared over the park. Between "Drive My Car" and "Let Me Roll It" they played one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. They did not play it during the concert and I have never heard it since. I would buy a soundcheck CD for this song alone.

Hi! And welcome to the Macca board! I bet the song you are thinking of is Celebration.

Thank you. Unfortunately, that is not the song. I have spent years searching bootlegs and b-sides and have yet to hear it.

Have you looked for the list of songs for that soundcheck? It must be printed somewhere.

There's a setlist here (scroll down a bit); it doesn't list Drive My Car, but there are two jams listed before and after Celebration. It's possible that one of these jams is the song you are looking for, in which case it won't exist anywhere else because those are always just impromptu things he does at soundcheck.  You would need to find a bootleg of this soundcheck to be sure.

Everything I have seen for that concert is what they played to the audience; mostly Beatles songs. The only solo songs were known album tracks.

            Scroll down to where?

I think you are correct that it was an improvised song. It was likely never recorded.

She must have forgot to add the link. I found setlists too but not for the soundcheck.

Curiously, neither site lists Drive My Car as being played at the soundcheck. It could have been part of one of those 'jams' I suppose but unlikely as they tend to consist of unidentified / improvised instrumental performances. Anyone recognising DMC would have surely listed it as a song being played.

I understand the confusion. I was referring to a genuine soundcheck, wherein the band plays a few songs to correctly calibrate the venue's sound system and not the small concerts he performs to a paying audience. This was done in the morning before Paul left the venue to be photographed at some event.

He should release a live album of 20 or so soundcheck songs.  Lots of rarities in those soundchecks.  The band plays loose.   Often a better performacne than the actual show.

It would definitely be something different, and would appeal to us hardcore fans
