Great!  But didn't George Martin add strings to fill out John's version of the song.....which sounded great to me.  Still, it will be nice to have Ringo and Paul flesh it out.  It always seemed like a Ringo-type tune to me.  laugh

It is my understanding that Ringo and Paul started from scratch to record a brand new “Grow Old With Me.” They aren’t using John’s demo.

That's true. It's not John's demo.  Jack Douglas, John's prdoucer, on "Double Fanstasy" wrote a string part for the song and they wove in a bit of a guitar line from "George's "Here Comes The Sun."  So it's John's song, Paul and Ringo....and a little George.  Ringo's first single....."What's My Name" ...."Ringo" shout out.. is out now.  Good blues/rocker sounding nice and punchy, but somewhat reminicient of another of his songs...more than just one??  Can't quite put my finger on it. Or maybe because Ringo just sounds like Ringo!  The voice stays the same.  Great guitar and drumming.

What you wrote is confusing. Are you saying they didn’t start from scratch? You say it’s not John’s demo, but then you say “So it’s John’s song. Paul and Ringo...and a little George.”  Huh?

Meaning they aren't using Lennon's recordings of it. Here's the full quote by Ringo:

“The other good thing is that I really wanted Paul to play on it, and he said yes. Paul came over and he played bass and sings a little bit on this with me. So, John’s on it in a way. I’m on it and Paul’s on it. [..] It’s not a publicity stunt. This is just what I wanted. And the strings that Jack [Douglas] arranged for this track, if you really listen, they do one line from Here Comes The Sun. So in a way, it’s the four of us.”

“So John’s on it in a way” ? Clear as mud Ringo! 😂

John''s on it in a way because he wrote the song.

Ringo's albums and his new single are horrible.  I can only imagine what they did to the Lennon song.  Should be avoided.

Yeah, I have been tough on Ringo.  His stuff is pretty brutal though IMHO.   His All Starr band doesn't have too many stars in it either if we want to go down that road too  🙂
