Maybe Howard Stern too.  Also a good chance to promote Abbey Road's 50th

Nice long interview with Paul tonight - it's worth a watch.

Also, did anyone notice Stephen's house band playing Getting Closer and Hot As Sun before/after the commercial breaks?

I always am wary of McCartney TV interviews because for the most part the questions are lame and they are mostly Beatle related. Tonight was no exception unfortunately, could not believe there was the question about Jimi Hendrix playing Sgt. Pepper after it came out. There was not one question about his #1 album "Egypt Station" and Colbert quickly asked about "Hey Grandude" in the end. I would literally pay any interviewer not to mention John Lennon, how many times do we have to hear McCartney say he loved him and they were friends after the Beatle breakup. On the positive side, it was cute to find out McCartney went to see "Yesterday" in a regular movie theater and sat in last row with a disguise.  The other nice moment to me was when Colbert finally asked about "Hey Grandude", McCartney showed picture of himself with his eight grandchildren on his phone.  Finally, to a degree McCartney can't control the questions he is asked but once again I wish interviewer would forget the 1962-69 years and ask him things that are more current. BTW - he looked good and like that he no longer colors his hair.

I think he CAN control what questions are asked...to a degree. He was there to promote the book so of course it was. I think Paul wants them to ask Beatley questions...that is what he has prepared stories for. But I too wish they would ask more current things.

And I agree that his hair color is looking great!

Not a fan of Colbert at all, but his story concerning "Band On The Run" was very touching.  The skit with other titles for "Hey Grandude" was flat and a little insulting.

"If you want the Beatles, go see Wings"-George Harrison 1974

"This is for all the Wings fans!" - McCartney introducing "1985" for the first time on American soil (Phoenix 2010)

Thought Paul was wonderful on Colbert, and he looked great!   He always seems very calm and relaxed in interviews, probably because he is so used to them by  now and kind of knows what to expect.  Seemed like Colbert was going for an interview with lots of deep questions, like asking Paul about his mother's death and how that affected him, rather than asking about his book right away, and his grandchildren.   It was a deep interview rather than a casual one.

I think interviewers submit the questions they want to ask ahead of time, to make sure there's no questions a guest would  rather not be asked, so Paul probably was ok with them.   He might have even suggested topics or questions that are familiar, he seems to be more comfortable with those than off the wall topics.   The Jimi Hendrix story is one we've heard before at concerts.

I thought Paul was very open about John and the Beatles breakup, and how he feels about being famous.  I think him saying that he still is the same kid he always was growing up in Liverpool showed he still tries to stay real as to who he is.

The book title parodies at the end I thought were for granddudes who would be in a nursing home/care facility, and Paul is soooooo not ready for that yet! lol  He and Ringo are very young for their age, probably because they maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise and vegetarian diets.

also Yes! I was impressed that the bandleader went more obscure instead of obvious/Beatles.

Enjoyed the interview. No matter who is interviewing him, Paul is always going to get some of those obvious questions, but Colbert tossed him a couple that made him think. I loved hearing the "sneaking into the movie theatre" story and seeing that he has that picture of his grandkids on his phone case.

Was that bit in the beginning voiced by Steve Riks? John finally says “I quit!” 😂

Liked that he finally revealed who called him Grandude - “One of my grandkids who shall remain nameless - Beckett.” And loved when he pulled out the cellphone to show the cover pic of all of them!

It was funny that neither of them knew that the photo of him and John was during the White Album! Colbert thought Abbey Road’and Paul said it could have been! Wish these talk show hosts would do a little research first!
