Nice long interview with Paul tonight - it's worth a watch.
Also, did anyone notice Stephen's house band playing Getting Closer and Hot As Sun before/after the commercial breaks?
Yes, John Batiste even sung the lyrics of Getting Closer, a bit. What was the name of the big band or show tune classic right at the beginning?
And there were even colored daisies at the bottom of the screen in the beginning. Kinda like the 60's...
Are you talking about what they were playing when Stephen Colbert walks out? It’s his theme song:
Thanks for the response, I'll have to listen again, don't believe it's the one I was thinking of.
Did you figure out which song you were talking about?
Oops... I'll listen again. Now that the 4 segments are up on you tube. It wasn't the shows tune tho, maybe it was a dance and tune or a tune for a an old movie or something like that. Can't really remember now.

"More with Paul McCartney" will be shown on Thursday night's Late Show with Stephen Colbert (October 10). On Wednesday night's show they announced it going into a commercial break. Thank you to Joyce for giving us the heads-up that there would be "more"!
Thanks so much Sophie, WOW

Totally missed the new segment but I'm sure it'll be on youtube shorty.

It's up on youtube now...

They are repeating Paul's full show on Colbert Tuesday Oct. 15th.
I thought the extra segment on Thursday was very good--especially Paul's reflection on what made the Beatles music so different and appealing. Perhaps that should have been included in the full show with the parody about his book being an "extra".

Someone said they thought Colbert must not really be much of a Macca fan, that he seemed unfamiliar with Paul's famous explanation of literally "dreaming up" the gorgeous melody of "Yesterday." Is that so? Did Colbert really greet that often heard story as new to him? I look forward to watching this, thanks for the video link.

That was a treat segment...love when Paul tells the British stories... England has such deep traditions and it's history is so fascinating to hear, especially from one of England's most well known citizens.

No details but maybe to promote the book?
I always am wary of McCartney TV interviews because for the most part the questions are lame and they are mostly Beatle related. Tonight was no exception unfortunately, could not believe there was the question about Jimi Hendrix playing Sgt. Pepper after it came out. There was not one question about his #1 album "Egypt Station" and Colbert quickly asked about "Hey Grandude" in the end. I would literally pay any interviewer not to mention John Lennon, how many times do we have to hear McCartney say he loved him and they were friends after the Beatle breakup. On the positive side, it was cute to find out McCartney went to see "Yesterday" in a regular movie theater and sat in last row with a disguise. The other nice moment to me was when Colbert finally asked about "Hey Grandude", McCartney showed picture of himself with his eight grandchildren on his phone. Finally, to a degree McCartney can't control the questions he is asked but once again I wish interviewer would forget the 1962-69 years and ask him things that are more current. BTW - he looked good and like that he no longer colors his hair.
I finallly got around to seeing the Stephen Colbert/Hey Grandude" Interview. I'm not a fan of Colbert (I like Fallon so much better) so I'm glad they still had it on this Site.
I agree with you totally Yankeefan on these types of McCartney TV interviews in general. The people doing the interviews always seem to bring up the same stories we've heard time and time again (e.g. the Hendrix Seargant Pepper story, how he dreamt the Yesterday melody etc.). This time I was kind of shocked that a "seasoned" interviewer like Colbert had too many blank stares, couldn't remember his questions etc. Maybe he was so much in "awe" he just lost his memory. I was surprised because Mr. Colbert has interviewed Paul before so it wasnt' his first time. I'll give him credit that he did regroup but again I was surprised that he seemed to be stumbling so much.
Like you, I wished Paul would be interviewed by someone who really knows Paul's full career...not just from 1964 to 1969. At the time of this interview, it is 2019! Colbert didn't show any knowledge of Paul's Post Beatles' career (except that he did bring up Band on the Run as a song that had special meaning to him) He talked about Egypt Station in his intro and was holding the special Egypt Station suitcase but he didn't bring up any of the songs specifically except Despite Repeated Warnings because it had something to do in his mind with Donald Trump. I know if I was interviewing Paul I would have to bring up how much I like his latest album, how it went to #1 for a man who is 78 years old, and go into some of the songs that have special meaning to me. It seemed rather obvious to me that Mr. Colbert has never played Egypt Station or he would have discussed how well ES did, his successful follow-up tour etc.
I did like that Colbert did bring up the Yesterday Movie. Paul's story of him and Nancy seeing the movie at a traditional movie theater incognito was very cute.

Don't make Paul any older than he is! He's still 77!

It was a lousy interview, thayt Paul tried to make interesting. It must be a drag for Paul to have a 50 year post Beatle career, and be bombarded with Ed Sullivan questions at the start of every interview.
The age jokes for the kids book were flat out insulting, and Paul appeared uncomfortable.
