I also read that recently. At least Barbara Wawa did something good. Paul seems very happy with Nancy. You can just see in her pictures how sweet she is.

Barbara Walters was first cousin to Nancy's late mother, Arlene, whose maiden name was Walters, therefore Nancy is her first cousin once removed (not 2nd cousin as article says) Barbara's daughter is Nancy's 2nd cousin. (and if Barbara's daughter has any children, they are 3rd cousins to Nancy's son Arlen)

It's really quite easy. Just think of your own family. My mom had a first cousin Bea who had a daughter Sally whose birthday was exactly 2 days after mine (same year) We are 2nd cousins. I was 1st cousin once removed from Bea.
Through ancestry.com I have connected with several 2nd and 3rd cousins and even a 3rd cousin once removed (son of my 3rd cousin and he is actually closer to my age) whose last name is the same as my maiden name.

We just call them cousins. We love them as if they weren't removed once or twice and it's a heck of a lot easier

We call them cousins too. I was just explaining because most people have no clue. And I find genealogy to be a very interesting subject.

It is pretty interesting. What do they call the cousins that are part of your Aunt's family, that married your mother's brother?

Whoever marries your mother's brother is your aunt by marriage only. Since she is not a blood relative of yours, her cousins are not your cousins. Her sisters and brothers and their kids are not your cousins. This would also apply to any man who married your mother's sister. He's your uncle, etc. etc.

I only met the brother of my aunt's husband, his wife and kids, once I think. And the sister of my uncle's wife and her daughter. We just weren't close with them. I couldn't tell you any of their names even!
