There are many upcoming shows for this lucky 2020, but if you can choose... what about your ideal setlist?

I have no doubts: I imagine a live show that starts with strong rock songs, with gems never heard before performed live. Space enough to range over the dacades, with a representative selection of each period of time. And... considering that I'm just playing with my imagination... some songs that speaks about me (Mamunia, Jenny Wren).

      1. Venus and Mars / Rockshow
      2. Rockestra Theme
      3. Angry (remix)
      4. Monkberry Moon Delight
      5. Red Rose Speedway Medley
      6. Maybe I'm Amazed
      7. For No One
      8. Jenny Wren
      9. My Soul
      10. Get Enough
      11. Got To Get You Into My Life
      12. Band On The Run
      13. Getting Closer
      14. Here Today
      15. My Brave Face
      16. Figure Of Eight
      17. Cosmically Conscious
      18. Backwards Traveller
      19. Beware My Love
      20. Only Mama Nnows
      21. Queenie Eye
      22. Despite Repeated Warnings
      23. Dance Till We're High
      24. Fine Line
      25. In A Hurry
      26. I Don't Know
      27. Mamunia
      28. Coming up
      29. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise)
      30. A Day In The Life

      Encore:
      31) Live And Let Die
      32) Beautiful Night
      33) Same Love
      34) Loveliest Thing
      35) Hey Jude

      Encore 2:
      36) She Loves You
      37) Golden Slumbers
      38) Carry That Weight
      39) The End
      40) Her Majesty

You've never felt the rain, my friend, till you've felt it running down your back!

But I have excluded So Glad To See You Here that I think it's perfect for a live show!

What about your? Have you ever imagined to redisigned your own setlist?

In the last 15 years or so, Sir Paul has pretty much played songs I was dying to hear; "1985", "Temporary Secretary", "Listen To What The Man Said", "Let 'Em In", "Junior's Farm", "Run Devil Run", "Venus and Mars/Rock Show" "Helter Skelter", "She's Leaving Home", etc., so I'm pretty content with any setlist now.  Of course I do have a few more requests:

*So Glad To See You Here  *Smile Away  *Martha My Dear  *Maxwell's Silver Hammer  *Silly Love Songs  *Backseat Of My Car  *Helen Wheels  *London Town  *Girl's School

"If you want the Beatles, go see Wings"-George Harrison 1974

"This is for all the Wings fans!" - McCartney introducing "1985" for the first time on American soil (Phoenix 2010)

I have imagined my own setlist I'd like to hear, many songs you put down, yet some different ones too... Audi and I one time said we wanted many from Electric Arguments at a show. Maybe a smaller venue too!

Oh, you are totally write. Electric Arguments is such a powerful project! Highway, Dance Till We're High, Sing The Changes... That's what I liked the most: year after year, time goes by but Paul has always the power to surprise me.

London Town is a mystery to me: how can it be possible?

But also With A Little Luck, same album. And what about "Beautiful night"? Perfect to me in for a live show: to me in Naples it will be for sure a beautiful night!

Too  tired to play the whole setlist game right now, but if he played Wanderlust, Friends to Go, Run Devil Run and Dominoes you'd have to carry me out on a stretcher.

Wanderlust, Beautiful Night, No More Lonely Nights and What You're Doing would do that for me!

Very creative setlist Mamunia.  I would be at this type of McCartney show in a heartbeat and would travel a great amount of air distance.  I like the fact that it is so "Solo Macca" concentrated.

I am unfortunately more of a realist.  I love all the relatively "unknown" gems on your list, but I would worry that with the state of Paul's current vocals, I might be very disappointed with the way some of these songs might sound.  Songs like "Monkberry Moon Delight", "Beware My Love" or "Angry" might sound totally different than their studio counterparts.  A song like "Despite Repeated Warnings" (which I really like on Egypt Station) might be way too long.  And a song like "Beautiful Night" which I love, just wouldn't come off nearly as well with his current voice.  And Paul had a difficult time singing "Jenny Wren" in 2005 during his Chaos and Creation tour.  He also might have a great deal of difficulty with  songs that I love like "My Brave Face" and "Getting Closer".  I admit I could be wrong but he would need tremendous help from his bandmates.

And I love, love many on your list like "I Don't Know" and "In A Hurry".  I decided to choose not to go to his latest US dates because in my opinion, his setlist in general got way to stale  and repetititious (and with the same stories).  At the same time, I do understand that with his age and current vocals, he had to stay with a heavy Beatles' setlist with songs that everyone in the audience knows.  With all the "sing along type songs" he smartly realized that he had to rely much less with his voice and the fans (mainly Beatles' oriented) wanted to hear their favorite Bealtes' songs.  In general he wanted the audience to have a great time.  I give Paul credit for that aspect of his current shows. That is why he continues to play all the "sing along" Beatle songs like Can't Buy Me Love, Love Me Do, From Me to You, Ob-La-Di, Birthday, Hey Jude etc. Everybody knows them and they all sing along.  Even some of his solo songs in his setlist are easy for him to sing like Let Em In and Dance Tonight.

While I love your setlist, I don't think anything close to yours will happen.  In 2020, we will probably get pretty much the same as 2018 and 2019.  My only hope is that we will get a couple more from Egypt Station like "I Don't Know, People Want Peace, Confidante or Happy With You.

                              Bruce,

I needed a good laugh this morning and you gave it to me.  Still laughing!  My wife is not a big Paul/Beatles fan, but she loves Dominoes, Confidante, Hand in Hand, Happy With You etc. etc.  I'm turning her around slowly but surely.

Actually BJ, I am a bit surprised you evened bothered responding to this setlist thread -lol. I think you and me beat this subject to death -ha ha.

Yankeefan and Nancy...you guys are right.  I just liked the creativity in Mamunia's imaginary setlist and I loved Bruce's comment about being carried away in a stretcher.

Even though it is still a couple of months away, l wonder if Paul's European concerts will still go on.

I took my time to answer.

You know, I never meant to bet on the real next setlist. I'm with you when you say that next shows will be more or less as the last two years. I've seen Macca live just three times and I'm still playing with my imagination: a movie in my mind where all my favourite ones are performed live. Do not get me wrong... each concert is perfect as it is, but they're just "mind games".

A part from this, you are right twice. Paul seems to face his voice change with a little help from his friends. But what I feel is that... I love his new tune. I don't think it's worse than in the past, it's just different. That's why in my list there is also My Soul: among all the last singles / collaborations it seems so true... and honest. There is a huge potential in his voice, let's imagine how a new arrangement could exploit this scratch! But also a different kind of performance live... like Elton John did in Russia with Ray Cooper. Can you imagine this?

Whatever... yes, it's "Solo Macca Concentrated" because I'm a Beatles fan, but Paul music makes my life better. It's the sountrack to my everydays.

You've never felt the rain, my friend, till you've felt it running down your back!

Don't tell me... I'm right in the middle of this mess and I'm still hoping that the situation will be fixed and in worse situation... that the concerts will be just "postponed" and not cancelled. Let's say... hope of deliverance from this epidemic.

See you are from Italy. I had the good fortune to have visited your country twice, last time was last September. I have been in Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, Naples and Capi. They are all wonderful with so many neat things to see and do. We absolutely were stunned by the beauty of Capri and I have some fantastic pictures from there. In Rome, we did all the tourist things but especially loved tour of the Roman Coliseum and actually being inside it also. Being a Catholic, going to the Vatican was awesome. Our hotel both times was near Trevi Fountain and we did toss a coin over our right shoulder - lol. Anyway, I hope you get to your concert. Just wanted to mention I enjoyed your beautiful country and wishing everyone there the best with this virus issue.
