The Who posponed their UK tour straight out of the blocks. The Stones cancelled their US tour outright. Macca with only 1 calendar month left to go and ' absolutely not one single word said from either  the man himself or his managment what so ever'.  Promoters ? insurance companies backing the promoters ? Governments and lockdowns. One thing's for sure...this tour ain't happening.

Whilst in the middle of a pandemic of such tragic consequences  concerts now seem to matter very little. However,  many fans that laid out their hard earned money for tickets, flights and hotels  now find themselves in a completely different financial position.

Flying into Barcelona from the UK ? Paid up front. The airline have now suspended their flights until the day of the concert and will not give a refund. Hotel booked over 5 days. Hotel will not give a refund. Tickets for the show, paid.....?

I got my money back from The Who within days of them re-scheduling  their shows. Hells bells Paul... many people's circumstances have changed and if you're not going to play...we need to know and we need to get  our money back. Deep respect...but I hope someone, somewhere gets something sorted out....and but soon.

Just been given an email from EasyJet saying that my flight isn't cancelled but I can reschedule to another flight for free or take a voucher. It's only valid until 1st May so a new date would be great so I can reschedule it all. What do you guys think I should do?

I got a similar email from Ryanair. My flight hasn't been cancelled yet, but I'm expecting it to be soon, and they've said I can change my flight to a date within the next three months (which is no use to me or anyone else I'm guessing, since they don't even expect to be running flights for the rest of the summer). The vouchers they're offering are good for 12 months, so I'm hoping that will cover a new date. If not, I'll be looking for a refund and then re-booking for the new date. They're trying to get out of giving refunds, but they're legally obliged to if your flight is cancelled.

I also recieved this email today for my outbound flight (Inbound was with flybe).

You can now get a refund off easyjet online but only once your flight is cancelled.

          https://www.easyjet.com/en/refund-form

That's what I'm going to do as soon as my flight on 26th May from Liverpool gets cancelled.

Also I hope it will be easy to get a refund off ticketmaster.fr as I can't be phoning France from the UK due to costs let alone speak French. Hope it can be done online somehow.

Hope we get cancellation/Reschedule news before the end of the month so I can get funds rolling back into the bank.

          Regards,

          Joe

Less than a month for the first concert scheduled and so far no confirmation of the new dates. Are they forgetting the fans who travel to see Paul?

What happens if borders aren't opened yet and shows are allowed again? Many many people travel from abroad to see Paul. Management is being super inconsiderarte with ticket holders.

Then Paul isn't allowed to travel as well...

I've been analysing the various restrictions on concerts across Europe. It looks like Paul could, as things stand, go ahead with the Italy shows, if things continue to improve in that country. Does anyone have any thoughts on that possibility? If the shows are going to be cancelled in their entirety, it is ridiculous that tickets are still being offered for sale.

Very doubtful on any major events happening this summer throughout Europe. In the UK we've had Wimbledon, Fringe Festival & music festivals that were taking place until August have all been or will be cancelled. Also with travel restrictions being in place, I wouldn't hold out any hope. McCartney said the dates have been postponed so why there's been no announcement is beyond me

I sincerely hope we can have certainty very soon. I have a number of flights back to Europe which I will need to change when the cancellation is officially announced.

I just received an email from StubHub from whom I purchased my tickets telling me that the Lille concert has been postponed but a new date has not been confirmed.

Thanks for the update, SgtPepper! Try to avoid buying on the secondary market next time - just pushes up prices for the rest of us.

No problem! And oh this was the one and only time I have begrudgingly resorted to touts only because the price was basically face value and I desperately wanted to attend.

I, too, wish a formal announcement would be made but I beleive this whole Covid crisis is exposing to the world the  worst of global corporate greed and that is probably one of the reasons the promotors have not yet made an official announcement. Just like the airlines, hotels, national train services often refusing refunds outright or issuing worthless credits/vouchers for future travel, the promotors are sucking us dry. Anything to keep their greedy hands on OUR money without providing the service.

Sorry for the vent but I just spent the morning trying to get refunds from Delta Airline (only a future credit), Trenitalia (what a bunch of nonsense-vouchers for future travel and you have to fill out a form rather than  have the option to change/cancel tickets online!!) and my head is splitting dealing with this. And I haven't even begun to deal with the concert tickets - I'll probably hang tight and hope I can make the rescheduled shows.

I'd like to shout out to AirBnB and SNCF for at least being responsible corporate citizens. AirBnB is offering full refunds and SNCF is issuing refunds for all but local trains it seems. Both make it easy online.

                            Rant over!

Spain issued plan for reopening. According to this article, concerts could happen starting May 25th but for shows with assigned seats and at a third of capacity. Barcelona's show has general admission floor.

Per the reopening plan, hotels open in July for nationals, no specific date for visitors from abroad. Paul would not be allowed in the country per the closed borders but there are provisions for allowing people in for extenuating circumstances, so technically he might still allowed in.

As I said weeks ago, everyone can understand that there will be no big events on this Summer worldwide. And by now we know it’s likely the first big events will not be happening before 2021.

It’s not a matter of country-wise bans or not, it’s the whole industry behind it not being able to function for many reasons. Just imagine that McCartney technically would be allowed to perform in country X somewhere in June. Then first of all he’s not going to put his own health and that of his many, many workers at risk. Secondly there’s no way he and his whole crew will be allowed outside their own countries, let alone travel through different countries.

Third of all the whole logistics behind it, the whole financial picture, it will take months to be back into shape. The whole tour fell apart, it wouldn’t be viable to do just a few shows. It’s the total puzzle. For every tour or festival in the whole wide world. It will take ages for the industry to start up again.

That's why it's silly for example Primavera rescheduled from May to August and Rock En Seine in August announced today they didn't cancel the event yet. Even if they will be allowed to organise a mass gathering by then, 80% of their line-up will be either stuck in their home countries, bankrupt, scared of touring or not capable of touring any more since all other bookings got scrapped. It's not going to happen this Summer.

I generally agree with your analysis. But be a little careful about the costs/time involved in re-activating PMc's team. I spoke with a couple of them in Japan a couple of years ago. They are full time employees. As such, I think PMc would be better placed to get things going. I think there is an outside chance that the Italy shows may still go ahead this summer.

I booked tockets for the Lucca show and did that through Event Travel. ET is still selling tickets for this summer's concerts. It's madness but there is nothing on their website about what is to happen. I cannot find mention anywhere from anyone as to what's going to happen. I have a balance to pay on those tickets. We need to know what is happening! Many of us have flights and hotels booked as well!! I'm so cross that I get an email telling me what Paul is up to etc but no mention of the great money making ventures of his concerts!

The La Défense Arnea website says they're still waiting on a postponement or cancellation for this concert. All the other concerts happening there have been officially postponed, absolute nonsense

Italy, the country which was hit the hardest and are bracing for the second wave in a broken economy and exhausted health care? Just because on paper at this moment mass gatherings might be allowed in 2 months over there, doesn't mean it's practically possible. It's an absolute pipe dream.

And I get what you're saying, but everyone in every industry is losing money anyway. And to set up the whole production for just a few shows, which initially were booked to do 10 stadium shows before a huge festival, is just not viable. Besides, like argued, the whole production can't be set up. At this moment it's a big feat to get life-saving equipment from continent to continent, let alone flight cases for entertainment. Let alone alllll the other links in the process. The borders aren't even open.
