I am not a bass player, but bought one years ago... I used to play along with Abbey Road *missing a lot of the puzzle pieces of bass to the songs .... so I put in a few temporary fillers that worked for the time being.
If I had many of the things available today, I might have stayed in my room all day and not gotten out. I might have filled in those missing pieces easier ... then again I might be surfing all the youtube videos or guitar parts or off on some tangent spending my time from one thing to another.
Abbey Road was always and still is fun to play along with. To this day I don't know how Paul could be playing the bass part and singing the other part with two different directions going on and doing an outstanding job on both.
Glad to see the link here and to listen .... thanks.

I have read that Paul usually went back last to add his bass part, so he never had to sing at the same time.

Very true, I have have heard and read that too. There are times in concert that he is singing and playing that have two different directions (the bass going high to low while he is singing low to high) ... I have always loved what he can do melodically with the bass and have every song fresh without hearing the same treatment on all.
With my limited ability on bass - I would either sing the song and play guitar or do the bass part, but many times I could not do both at the same time. (As I said before I am not a bass player - I just play the bass for the fun of it).
I am also saying with the tools of today .... the possibilities of hearing isolated parts. I tried to figure out songs by ear with everything going at the same time (and an average stereo at the time) .... playing the song over and over again trying to figure out the notes or technique. (I do not read music - like many that I know - just try to play it by ear).
Of course I said with all this tech stuff, if I had it back then, I might be surfing, drifting or on some other use of it and playing video games or something else or just music surfing ... I donno .... but there are cool things out there now.

Always enjoy these Just the Bass bits and the other isolated instruments. Is there an Isolated Martha My Dear on the piano? That's quite complex.
