"See Your Sunshine" is wonderfully perky, catchy and refreshing, one of my faves on MAF. I always suspected it might be about his second wife, Heather--maybe that's why he's never done it live (?).

I wholeheartedly agree Susy.  Love Paul's bass and the the bridge on this song.

"Average Person" has always made me cringe and grit my teeth. "Sweetest Little Show" used to sort of bug me but I came to like it, it's cute.  I grew to appreciate its charms.

Just saw the August List for "Sticking Out of My Back Pocket".  The team at Paulmccartney.com has followed up July with another great list.  The theme for August are Paul songs with a "chilled-out vibe".  I love most of them and almost all are good to great underrated tracks.  Here is the list:

          1. Dominoes - One of my favorite songs on Egypt Station.  Criminal that this song isn't better known and why Paul didn't add this to his last Setlist?  How do you not do this song live???

          2. London Town - Even though it was the title track to the album on the same name,  I think it is still mostly unknown.  I have always liked the song and the video is so funny as Denny didn't seem to want to be in it

          3. Distractions - Another very underrated song from Flowers in the Dirt.  Love the lyrics.

          4. Early Days - One of my favorites from the "New" album.  I know some fans didn't love Paul's vocals but it never bothered me.

          5. Bip Bob - I started laughing when I saw "Bip Bop" included on the August list because I know that my good friend "Yankeefan" detest this song.  I'm not in love with the nonsense lyrics (or lack thereof) so I wouldn't have included it but it is definitely a "back pocket" song.  And why Paul included "Bip Bop" on his last compilation "Pure McCartney" still baffles me when there were so many great tracks missing on the Pure McCartney Compilation.

          6. Heaven on a Sunday - Perhaps the most underrated song on Flaming Pie.  Loved it on the remaster.

          7. Hope of Deliverance - My favorite song on the much maligned Off the Ground album.  I like the live versions of Hope of Deliverance even better and why did Paul stop playing it on his tours still baffles me.

          8. Footprints - Better served on a Winter's "Back Pocket" list i.m.o but this song is stone cold one of Paul's greatest unknown tracks.  Because it was on such a maligned album (Press to Play) no one knows this beautiful song.

          9. That would be Something - One of the hidden gems on the "McCartney" album and it was great that Paul played it on his "live"  MTV concert back in 1993..

          10. Calico Skies - One of the best songs on "Flaming Pie" without a doubt.  Put it on a Beatles' album and it wouldl be universally known like Blackbird.

          11. Baby's Request - Last track on Back to the Egg and definitely a "Back Pocket" song.

          12. Back Seat of My Car - I remember hearing this on FM radio back in the day during the release of Ram and definitely a forgotten gem.

What do you think of this latest list?

Bip Bop baby!! Always one of my guilty pleasures; and the live versions just simply rock. And this list also includes a few of my all time favorite tunes; London Town, Dominoes, and the magnificent Back Seat Of My Car.

Thanks Wingsoverkc for your feedback as usual.  I will have to try to find the live version of Bip Bop.

Like you I love the song London Town and Back Seat of My Car.  And as you know from my posts on Egypt Station, I love, love Dominoes.

Thanks Nancy!!  What a great video.  Linda's background singing is so solid.  I am probably 2000 of the 5000 viewings of this song. Ha.  Wings really sounded great in these early videos.

I enjoyed that live bip bop vid too, LOL, didn't that bloke playing guitar with the long wavy blond hair look sort of like Linda, at first I thought it was !  Paul's shoes look kind of dorky, but it was the times...

Linda's costume looked sparkly and pretty. She looked a bit awkward as she fairly often did, onstage. But she was keeping up with everything and did her part well. She was always an avid music lover, and damn if it didn't pay off for her--a member of McCartney's band ! Of course the main prize she snared was his hand in wedlock. (emphasis on the LOCK, LOL)

And being a long time argyle sock wearer, really digged Paul's socks during this video.  Wearing cool socks and belting out Bip Bop. And then the video slips right into Mumbo Live!! Wings baby!

OMG - "Bip Bop" - lol.  That this song was included on "Pure McCartney" just showed how  awful the choices were for that album. Other than that, pretty darn good list this month. Like you, I love "Dominoes" and "Early Days". I think we both agree that McCartney's "old man" voice on "Early Days" suits the song so it is not an issue with me.  IMO - Both of these songs should have been done live but I have been down that road too many times -lol ."Hope Of Deliverance" and "Calico Skies" are both excellent songs and for solo McCartney songs pretty well known. "Backseat Of My Car" is awesome and one of the all time great McCartney vocals. "London Town" is ok song which is basically my opinon about the entire album."Footprints" is just a gorgeous song  and one of the highlights of "Press To Play".  Good job this month, give them a grade of "A -".  (including "Bip Bop" takes it down a notch)

Thanks Yankeefan.  Speaking of Bip Bop, I just watched the Bip Bop live video on youtube again and went further to a couple of additional songs that were included with the Bip Bop clip.  One of my favorites was the "live at the Hague" video of Paul's original Band in 1972 doing "Eat at Home".  In my opinion, "Eat at Home" is one of the best songs on Ram and it makes me wonder why Paul never did this song "live" with any number of his future bands including his Wings Over America group, his Back to the Egg band, his Off the Ground band or even his current band.  I think it is a great rocker and quite possibly would have been done considerably better by any of the bands I mentioned.  Interesting thing about "Eat at Home" is that as much as Paul and John were on bad terms at the time of Ram (for many reasons) "Eat at Home" was the one Ram song that I believe  from my memory that John praised.

Smile Away was another Ram song that the 1972 band tackled live during these tours.   Again, I think his other future bands could have done "Smile Away" better.  One thing to keep in mind that this very early Paul band was just starting out and even Paul himself needed to do more work to improve their sound.  Any comments.

I love most or all the songs on the August list...must confess to having forgotten how "Footprints" goes, will look it up...I love the  "London Town" song and it's not just okay for me.  Most or all these songs have some personal meanings for me. "Back Seat of My Car," I confess I've somehow never gotten into, all the way. It's all over the place, or something.  It does feature a lush languid quality that makes you think of warm sparkly summer nights.

"That Would Be Something" and "At Baby's Request" are smokin'

"Dominoes" is a bit iffy for me--the overall sound is appealing, but its lyrics are so vague. Unless I'm mistaken and just haven't listened carefully. It's irresistable in a way--that's how it sometimes strikes me...

"Hope of Deliverance" is campfire, but catchy. Jaunty, upbeat, imparts hope. For some reason, Germans have always really loved this song.

"Calico Skies" is exquisite,  but makes me sad. I feel it was written while Paul ruminated on Linda's illness, which later proved to be fatal.  Thinking of that as well as his long love for her.

"Heaven On a Sunday" is so soothing and "feel good." It's pure silk. Goes down very easy

Susy, Paul wrote Calico Skies in Aug. 1991 and recorded it in Sept. 1992, long before Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer (that was in late 1995)

But when he plays it and sings it to her in 1997 in the World Tonight video, it certainly is sad in retrospect. 😢

RAM had a bunch of songs that would have gone down very well live. I agree with you about "Eat At Home" and I have mentioned before I had wished McCartney would have done "Dear Boy". The youtube clips of the "Damn Cyrstals" doing RAM live a bunch of years ago showed how awesome it could have been. The WOA tour band would have done a great job with "Smile Away" especially with Jimmy McCullough on lead guitar

This month is McCartney's classical music and it is not really my "cup of tea" -lol.

Yea I saw it too Yankeefan.  Not my "cup of tea" either but I was surprised that they didn't include "Celebration" one of my all time favorite Paul melodies.  There are several versions of "Celebration" including the one done by Lang Lang at the White House show honoring Paul.  Not sure I have the name of the artist right but I remember seeing him perform the song and it was pretty good.  I also remember Elvis Costello performing Penny Lane.
