Any Electric Vehicle Owners Out There?
-
Hey folks, any other electric vehicle owners out there in Maccaland? In early March I leased a 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric and just totally love it to pieces, even though I'm driving less than normal right now for reasons that are probably obvious. Are there any other EV drivers on here?
By the way, if you're curious about the ins and outs of driving an electric car, I am happy to answer any questions. I'm already sure I will never, ever go back to gasoline-powered transportation.

Almost; I own a '19 Lexus RX hybrid SUV. Fuel economy is excellent. Perhaps my next vehicle will be battery powered. Great you're enjoying your new vehicle.

Yeah, me too - have a 2016 hybrid Honda CR-Z. Used to have same car, only a 2011. Prior to that had a 2003 hybrid Honda Civic. Would like to someday have an all electric car, since I drive so little. (no long trips)

Do any of you have solar panels to power your cars? Do you have a power charger in your garage? On long trips does it get dicey if you're in an area with fewer chargers or should I get a hybrid if that's a concern. Really would love to get one, especially with the blue skies since the lockdown started.

No to the solar panels - the hybrid cars recharge when you drive and go down a hill. I do usually drive to Nashville and Louisville once a year, so that would preclude me having an electric car for that, unless I could make the 270 miles on one full charge, re-charge overnight, then go to Louisville the next day. Maybe Bruce can answer about the charging situation. Do you just plug into household current?
