I read Jagger on this, and he was quite tactful and thoughtful.  He pointed out the Stones have stayed together so very much  longer and they have also toured extensively in massive arenas and the like, said the Fabs stopped touring and didn't have that huge complete experience of how touring became in later years for the huge successful bands. McCartney had said he considered the Beatles the best of the two groups and one big reason was Stones music is so blues-oriented, doesn't have the variety of styles and genres and influences the Fabs songs feature.

Its such  ridiculous conversation/comparison.  Stern was practically begging Macca to answer the question.  Jagger was laughing it off too.    Theyve all had incredible success.  Stones just released a new single thats #1 on the itunes charts(whatever thats worth), and Paul just had a #1 album.  Such a silly "debate"

Before they settled down, which band had the most women by their side?  And be honest when it comes to Ringo and Charlie!

                  Here's a thought

Mick Jagger inducting The Beatles (George, Ringo & The Lennons) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Totally agree. I responded to someone on another forum who said they thought Paul's comments were "surprisingly petty". They clearly hadn't heard the Stern interview so didn't understand that it was all light-hearted. And you're right, he was really pressing Paul for an answer, so of course he was going to agree that The Beatles were better! The tabloids are all going for sensationalist headlines like "Jagger SLAMS McCartney's comments" etc. Which is hardly surprising, since that's what tabloids always do, but they want to give the impression of some kind of feud when really there is none.
