I don't know how you could justify blocking several people's views just on the off chance that Paul might see your message. Why? Do you think you're telling him something he hasn't heard before? Think about the people behind you whose vision you are obstructing. Thanks

I did think about them which is why I held the sign up maybe 4-5 times during the entire 3-hour show and it was always for a few seconds in between songs IF he was looking in my direction. I'm only about 5 feet tall so I'm OVER sympathetic to having someone's view blocked. Thanks

As long as the signs are held up briefly when he is looking in that direction I never had a problem with it. I think he enjoys the signs, or he wouldn't comment in a positive way about them. Has anybody been called up on stage or sound check without them?

I have had several items signed at McCartney concerts that way without ever having any complaints.

I'm on the short side as well so last year in DC I was careful to not block those behind me.

These people are responsible with their signs. However, when I did the St. Louis sound check, we had 5th row center seats that were quite good. The couple in front of us had made folders for signs for every single song and held up the signs during the song and between the songs. I could have gotten decent pictures if it hadn't been for their signs for every single song. Sadly for others, they had more sound checks to attend on the tour. Didn't make any difference when we asked them to put the signs down. All they cared about was themselves. Once I get a sign acknowledged, I never put it back up. No need to put it back up--especially because I've rarely been close enough to get anything signed and I don't want to end up on the stage.

                    ~lady*madonna~:

Does he acknowledge the signs during the concerts on the current tour? In the past, he has paused in between songs once during the concert to talk about the signs, how he has a hard time singing/playing and reading the signs, and then proceeds to actually read one or two. So is he doing this on his current go 'round?

and he told the story bout reading the signs again~ yes he does and he did, in SL he read a few of them... if the crowd is really enthusiastic... he will read the signs---- he tried to read mine n even put it on the big screen === it was funny! he signed 4-5 albums too ...

Paul isn't God but he's close to it ")

I so agree with those. Do something, anything original. Paul makes it worse by actually signing people.

Cool. If someone had a sign in front of me at a concert and blocked my view, it would be in pieces on the ground in about 2 seconds!! Ha ha!

Well not all of us that bring signs are disrespectful to those behind us and are careful with when and how we hold them up.

That's cool. I probably would be in the stands or upper decks any way. I would not want to pay those prices then deal with that sort of thing in any way. Honestly, I enjoy concerts most when I am in the stands to the side of the stage ten or so rows up from the floor.

Similar happened to me in london in 2003. Signs were just taking off i think, and we had 3rd row middle (bought normal face value!!!) and in front of us were people on the packages, theyd come from teh states and mexico iirc, and they had signs for every song, different signs, the woman in front of me (leader of their group) seemed to spend most of the gig looking at the pile of signs in front of her working out which she wanted to hold up next and then spent the other half of the concert holding them up! So desperate for Pauls attention! It was so annoying, i politely asked early on but she would not stop using them. Paul looked at her about 5 times in the first half hour, but from what i could see peering around her signs he didnt look again as even he mustve found it annoying by that stage! She did not care that by her attention hogging it blocked the prime view of everyone behind her, but she felt that Paul only deserved to look at her. It put me off signs for life so have never used any myself (though accept there are plenty of responsible users, esp on this forum!)

                                    .

My signs were made for mostly my own amusement and were only flashed briefly when others flashed theirs and for a few minutes in soundcheck and I was off to the side by myself. Probably wouldn't do/brings signs again - getting a little overdone, but I have to admit, that we had this 3rd row thing going which was a lot of fun and I hope it didn't interfere with any one else's experience.

Ok,Here's one for you guys...A few years ago at a show,I was in the 3rd row -my first 3rd row- .We all know & love Rick Glover & Fans on the Run. But the woman next to me,also her first time being so close was asked to give her seat to someone else so they could sit with the FOTR gang & hold up a sign during Band on the Run. The woman didn't really want to move, she told me she didn't...but she didn't want to be the one to ruin their row of signs. So instead of her 3rd row seat, she ended up in 7 or 8th,when she came back to her seat after the song ,she had to tell the chick, yes she really wanted her seat back for the rest of the show !! FOTR left, not very happy. I know it was only 1 song with the signs, but my "neighbor" almost had to call security !

She should have told them that she would hold the sign for them. It was her seat, not theirs.
