As the whole world has been on pause, I think it's the perfect time for creative people to get creative. I wonder if Paul is in his studio messing about and making music for his own pleasure. It would be amazing if he made a McCartney 3 during this time.

From published reports, and interviews Paul has given, he's been busy working on a musical version of "It's a Wondeful Life," and the Beatles are involved (production wise) in creating a new film version of the "Let it Be" footage, directed by Peter Jackson.  The release date for that film has been pushed back to next year.

Since the lockdown, it's possible he's had more time to compose new songs for another album.  Maybe he'll let us know in future interviews.

It would be great to hear of any new music.  I've read comments from other fans that they're looking forward to a new album.

Paul seems to thrive on lockdowns. When the beatles split he went to ground and made mccartney, then when wings couldn't tour after his arrest, he released mccartney 2. It only makes sense that mccartney 3 is next. But any new music by Paul is always welcomed.

McCartney 2 was recorded before his arrest but released afterwards but I agree, especially with time running out,any new music would be always welcome.

It's always good to anticipate new music, but I really hope his voice is a lot better than it was on the recent lockdown broadcast.

Yeah, I reckon the rest will do his voice good. But he is pushing 80 now, it's understandable that his voice will be a little ragged. He has been using it an awful lot of the The past 20 years with the amount he tour's. I instantly heard a change that I didn't like when he released NEW as a single. I guess we just have to accept that he is older now. As hard as that may be.

I think he was intentionally singing like that the other night, to sound like Louis Armstrong.

Paul sounded like he was shouting.

I've said this before but when Paul issues more new music (and hopefully a new album)  I'm hoping that he chooses Greg Kurstin as his next Producer.  In general his "production" on Egypt Station was superb.  I also thought that ,by and large, Paul's 77 year old vocals on Egypt Station sounded surprisingly good.  I give Greg a lot of credit for Egypt Station and in my opinion, Paul should stick with a good thing.

As far as McCartney 2, I would never include it in the top half of Macca's Post Beatles' albums but listening to the Archive and Remastered Edition in 2011 did give me a greater appreciation for the album.  I liked a lot of the more conventional sounding Mc 2 tracks like Waterfalls, One of These Days, On the Way, Summer's Day Song,  Nobody Knows and of course Coming Up.  The video for Coming Up was one of his best in my opinion.

I'm with BJ here. Kurstin was a great producer for Paul, and they should work together again -- soon!

Given that Egypt Station is one of the least popular and poorest selling albums of Paul's solo career, I hope not. Personally I'd rather Paul produce himself but if he does need a producer then I would favour Nigel Godrich (his recent work with Roger Waters was excellent) or Youth again. Or perhaps a different approach with someone new like David Wrench.

To each his own Kestrel.  I don't know enough about the overall sales and/or popularity of Egypt Station to comment.   I just go by my own ears and the overall reviews of ES.  The reviews in general were very positive and I love the production of almost all the songs that Greg Kurstin produced.  Examples for me include "I Don't Know, Happy With You, Who Cares, Confidante, People Want Peace, Hand in Hand, Dominoes, Back in Brazil, Do It Now, Despite Repeated Warnings, and the closing track...Hunt You Down etc.  While "Come On to Me" wasn't close to my favorite Paul track on ES, Greg did a great job on the song's "production" (making the most out of a limited song) and it became the lone "hit" on ES.  In my opinion, that alone was quite a "feat" to a limited song and just shows his great "Production" capabilities.  If there was one problem with ES in my opinioin is that the overall album was too long and probably should have been been trimmed down two or three tracks.   The other thing in my opinion is that  ES should have had one producer...in this case Greg Kurstin.  Paul probably made the same mistake on Flowers in the Dirt which again in my opinion had too many cooks in the kitchen.

For any new music and a possible new Paul album, I would vote for Greg Kurstin.  However, I do 100% agree with you on Nigel Godrich.  I loved the job that Nigel did on Chaos and I would be just as fine with Mr. Godrich as his next Producer.  Being realistic here, I'm not sure that another McCartney/Godrich album is possible but if it was, I couldn't wait to see the outcome.

I would agree about the length of the  album. My version has 20 songs with a running time of 64+ minutes which is way long, even had each song been top drawer Macca material. As it is the half dozen quality songs are dragged down by the rest.

I also agree that an album would benefit from having just the one producer in charge although having said that, New had four producers and that was was by far a more consistant and imaginative album. But then it had 13 tracks running for 46 minutes so maybe that helped?

Egypt Station was Paul's first U.S. no. 1 album since Tug of War. It was acclaimed by critics all over the world. Yeah, that would be a terrible thing to repeat.

FYI, no one's albums sell what they used to because the music market has shifted entirely. Comparing sales stats with years or decades before is pointless.

I'd be thrilled if a "McCartney 3" came out of this lockdown period like a gorgeous colorful flower from the dirt. From this perilous dangerous time.  He probably had his hands full though with an intriguing-sounding score for a "It's a Wonderful Life" theatrical musical and with the new "Let It Be" movie, and other things. He'd be astonishingly prolific and hyper-creative to also suddenly produce out of his hat an all new originals album ~! But bring it on, if so !
