McCartney 3?

Both albums got mostly positive reviews, though -- per Metacritic -- McCartney III's were slightly better overall. I find that utterly baffling, but that's me. I actually listened to McCartney III today for the first time in a few months, and it sounded a little better after some absence, but it's still not top tier Paul. Still, for sentimental reasons I'm happy to root for a nomination or two.

The songs you name are among the album's strongest tracks (though I'd swap Women and Wives for The Kiss of Venus), but I don't consider any of them in the same league as Paul's best material (among which I would easily include Dominoes, Do It Now and Hand in Hand). Your mileage may vary (and likely does)

I do love Seize the Day and When Winter Comes.... just not as much as I love Coming Up, Summer's Day Song, Waterfalls and One of These Days... and Temporary Secretary... in the words of Maxwell Smart, "sorry about that"

Dominoes, Do it Now and Hand in Hand are brilliant.... Dominoes is "catchy-central"... one of his underrated greats. Throw Who Cares into the mix. I love that too.

As for Wild Life...
Some People Never Know.... has more melody than all the songs from McCartney 3 put together... I love it!!
Bip Bop, fine... better than the opening to the third McCartney solo... does well. Like the song. Nothing wrong with it. It wasn't designed to be a masterpiece. But far better than the M3 opener.
Mumbo.... voice... wow... love it.... Great song. Makes a mockery of Slidin' and some of the other "modern rockers".
Tomorrow.... could have been on one of the Fab Four's albums
Dear Friend... haunting.... deep.... And has meaning! Part of the legacy.
Nothing wrong with the title track. Like it.
A good job of the cover song.
In my view, Wild Life far better than McCartney 3.

Wild Life is a good album and underrated IMO, but I think McCartney 3 is really good too.
When Winter Comes (excluding the Winter Bird segment at the beginning) would probably fit in pretty well on Wild Life.

Far, far from my fave album.... but I am wrapt for Paul!
Still can't work out how Find My Way gets into the "rock" category.... but, I guess these days anything with a real guitar is seen as edgy.
Although, that song has grown on me.... even if I think the version with Beck is better.
The Grammy's have been a piece of junk for decades now, but I still hope Paul gets a win.

I agree. I bet in a way David Grohl hopes Paul wins because he has a bunch more chances at winning than Paul does at his age.

I think the song is more "Pop" than rock and agree with you any song now with a real guitar is "edgy" -lol. I have always loved the song and thought it was close to "Pop"perfection and radio friendly. The odds are fairly low Paul will win but we can cross our fingers and hope for an upset.

Yes, the Grammy's are a hoot. There are some head scratchers in there.....ABBA, which couldn't buy a Grammy...or nomination... for all the money in the world when they were int their prime in the 70s, now they get nominated for Record of The Year for a song nobody has really heard of...or heard period!. They sound good..like the old days....but it's a little late. And too little. And Kanye gets nominated for his worst album in forever. If he were going to win, it should have been years ago. Taylor Swift will reach in and win it again so he can rip it our of her hands!
Happy for Paul.. He has a chance....I feel much better about his album than you do, but that happens....but he won't beat the Foo Fighters. -
I haven't heard the other albums to be able to judge if McCartney lll is better or not but its a great album, Paul's best in many, many years so I do hope it wins.
