I too was disappointed and surprised. I think many fans were. I was reading the You Tube comments and Twitter comments afterwards, and many people were asking "where's Paul's message?" He had plenty of time to film something, everything was prerecorded and it was announced days in advance; they had to know people would want and expect to see him.
Even if he didn't sing something, a little Happy Birthday message would have been so nice. Especially since it's Ringo's 80th (a big one) and his other two Beatle buddies can't send him the love, it is sad that Paul is here and can, but didn't. Paul is always eager to show Ringo some brotherly love, there must be a good reason (though I can't imagine what it would be).
Robert Gannon would call you a "so called fan" for talking like that. He berated Javier Lubelski (another former boardie) on FB for wondering why Paul didn't record a birthday greeting! (This was in a post created by Jen Dodge in the private group Paul McCartney Fanthology) Gannon made 11 posts against Javi in a very mean-spirited way.

Well, I know I am a big fan and love Paul. I just don't think he is perfect. I wasn't attacking him, just trying to figure out why he didn't send a message, which is a bit odd for him. As I mentioned in my previous post, he is usually eager to show Ringo some brotherly love, maybe he had a good reason.

Yes! I remember when he surprised Ringo on stage to sing Birthday-loved that !!
I also liked all the birthday well wishes, my favourite, though, would have to be seeing Ringo's children and grandchildren. Very sweet. I also liked Giles Martin who asked him if he forgave his dad (George Martin) for not letting him play on Love Me Do LOL
