"People Want Peace" is gorgeous, I find; it would fit in on the classic album "Tug Of War." If a Beatles song it would have been fawned over endlessly, I think.

Agree 100% Susy.  Like many of Paul's really good Solo songs, it would be universally known if it was on a Beatle's album.  I love the song, Paul's vocal and the arrangement.  Such a shame that Paul didn't play People Want Peace, Dominoes, Hand in Hand, Confidante, Happy With You and I Don't know on his subsequent ES tour.

While some groups from Pink Floyd to Let's Eat Grandma are content to play a new album right through in concert, Paul (for better or for worse) never has. He just cherry picks a few songs off a new album and devotes the rest of his set to older songs. Given that the vast majority of his live audience are not buying his latest album(s), Paul knows not to include too many unfamiliar songs.

Yeah, I know that, Kestrel. Like BJ  though,  I wish it were otherwise.  That he'd feel he could include a couple more new ones than he does.

There are at least 4 or 5 songs on Egypt Station that, had they been on Beatles albums, would be universally regarded as classics: Confidante, Hand in Hand, Dominoes, Do It Now and Naked for sure, and maybe People Want Peace, too. So sad that none of them made it into his regular set list, though he did play Confidante once or twice. Sigh...

If only he would sell his latest CD at his merch booth. Sigh... then people would know his music better... I feel so badly that sooo many people are missing the songs, and it is his audience too!  They would love it !

I understand artists like McCartney want to please their audience and do the hits. That being said, does anybody really think the first timers at McCartney concert would really care if he did another song or two from "Egypt Station" instead of "My Valentine", "Dance Tonight" or "Queenie Eye"? I bet his band would rather do additional songs from "Egypt Station" than those songs -lol.  At this stage in his life, not going to change. It is what is is - lol.

I could do without  hearing "My Valentine" and "Queenie Eye," I don't like those all that much. "Despite Repeated Warnings" has a gorgeous melody. I feel it would lull and soothe an audience to hear that melody. The lyrics, of course, are sad and a warning. Trump doesn't deserve a beautiful melody like that but he got it. Barb Striesand's song about Trump has a beautiful tune to it too.  "People Want Peace" and "Despite Repeated Warnings" are such beautiful protest songs.  I'd love to hear those back to back in concert, but as you say, it isn't gonna happen.
