At Paul's shows here in Brazil the local governments usually shut down some streets/avenues around the stadium for a few hours before/after the concerts and make special arrangements with public transport companies to take the fans to those events and back, in order to avoid people using their cars and creating traffic jams. Is it like that in the US and other countries?
In the US public transportation means sadly 1 person to a car...especially in California!

Looking back now that I am not so foggy headed, my ONLY complaint would be that friggin' camera boom that often was in my line of sight from section A2. I would have to wait until the boom was either raised or lowered to get a good view, especially when Paul was at the big piano. Still in awe over the concert. What a night!

Same complaint here about that boom. Why can't they have that hanging from somewhere?

Some US cities do have good public transport and do run extra shuttle buses or trains to large public events.

Did they pass out the guitar pics?
Nope. No picks at Phoenix either. Paul was amazingly early for Candlestick soundcheck. Check-in was early anyway, from 2:45 to 3:15, and I think at 3:30 we were suddenly told that we had to head down NOW. people had to put down their drinks and grab their stuff and hustle. we had a long way down to the field and we still did have to wait a bit for Paul, but he was done just before 5 which is when the gates were supposed to open, altho I heard they did open later than that. It is a lucky thing that they did get Paul there early...imagine if HE had been stuck in the traffic gridlock!
About how many people were at sound check in SF? That has to be the earliest sound check I ever heard about. Glad you made it on time!
Thanks! I am horrible at estimating numbers of people ops: but it was definitely over 100 so BeatleBarb's post about 230 could be right. It was a very lively group; many Fans on The Run were in attendance. and a nice setlist, including Leaning On A Lamppost, Let Em In, Drive My Car.

From the parking lot, I *thought* I heard "Helen Wheels" during the soundcheck, is that correct?

No, sorry, he did not do "Helen Wheels." I wish! There were the standard soundcheck songs like "Matchbox" "Blue Suede Shoes" "Bluebird" "C Moon" "Lady Madonna" but I am trying to remember the other ones he tossed in. "San Francisco Bay Blues" for Shelley of course. There was also an extra cameraman besides Paul's usual video guy. This new guy had a huge steady-cam type of camera and I am wondering if he was part of Ron Howard's crew.

Yes we had that issue when Paul was at his mic from where we were sitting.

It's official: Candlestick Park is cursed.
Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons they're tearing it down

Hi folks, first time poster. I've really enjoyed reading everyone's impressions. Well, enjoyed almost everyone's. My heart aches for the folks who got so tantalizingly close, only to be unable to attend. A friend mentioned that he'd read that one of the issues was that a ton of folks who didn't have tickets bought parking just to stay outside and listen, which meant there weren't enough spaces for ticket-holders. I'd been saving a half-day I'd earned at work in March, so I went up with a friend and we arrived around 4:15 or so. I'd never been to Candlestick, but I'd researched parking in the area and decided to try to grab a spot in a little lot right off the freeway. The Google map was out of date, however, and the lot was now filled with shipping crates, so we drove a few blocks west and found free street parking in a recycling plant neighborhood that was TWO BLOCKS from the freeway entrance! A quarter-mile walk to the park and we were there! (When the last note of The End was struck, we took off. There was still a hefty pool of people leaving, but we'd parked in a place that was both off the beaten path yet right next to the freeway, so it took us two minutes to get on the freeway once we were in the car, huzzah!!!) We waited for the doors to open, then scrambled to find a booth that had a "Last Pick at the Stick" shirt in anything but small, and ended up finding a booth in the farthest corner of the upper level that had them! Our seats were brilliant. On the field, 10 rows back from the stage. Needless to say, the whole show was AMAZING. I hadn't seen Macca since 2002 or so, and he hadn't lost a step! Long Tall Sally of course takes the cake for me, but Something was also way up there (among many others!). The last time I saw Sir Paul, he was doing that number on ukulele alone, so to have the full band kick in was MAGIC! I took some footage, if anyone's interested. If I'm able to figure out how to post some links, here's a couple of videos. More on my channel. If you do check 'em out, be sure to crank it up to full HD!!! Hope you enjoy. Hugely indebted to Paul and the band and crew for such an unforgettable evening! Long Tall Sally:

Additionally, someone asked about the stadium in San Diego. It's actually at the edge of the downtown area. Literally next to the office buildings. So if you stay at a hotel downtown near the convention center, you can walk there in about one minute!

This is what I was thinking. I don't have New yet and was going to get it at the show, but they didn't have it .
