Wasn't "Early Days" basically a "John And I" song?

Second verse definitely was. How about 'Here Today' as another example? Given that Paul only really knew and worked with John for about 12 years, and that was 50 odd years ago, I think he needs to get over his obsession and talk about someone else. Denny and I would make a nice change?

I would love to be able to do hour interview with McCartney and tell him I will give him $1,000 for his favorite charity if he never mentions the Beatles as a group or any individual Beatle by name in the interview. If he does, then he has to give me $1,000 -lol. Who would win the bet?  - ha ha.

Lennon obviously made an profound impression on Paul, was a huge influence, and they did write some of their best Beatles songs together.  To state the obvious.  It would be refreshing and fun if he'd concentrate only on his solo stuff in some interviews and  in concerts, especially. Maybe that's never going to happen. At least some books exist that focus on his post-Beatles music, examining and delving into many of those songs.  I was just thinking, while ago, that a lot of songs he's written in his more mature later years are more subtle and nuanced, like some of his "Flaming Pie" songs and of course much later on "Egypt Station." Tunes like "I Don't Know" are slower,  less intense and softer. Not loud and blaring. They don't "rock" and that's a big minus for some music buffs who don't appreciate the subtlety  and change of pace.  Too mild, tame and thoughtful and reflective for them.  I don't find such songs  boring and bland and can appreciate them. And  I like folk rock more than hard rock, overall. "Easy listening" ballads over metal rock. Yikes !

He could call it Denny Laine and just sing it to the tune of Penny Lane. 😉

A long long time ago I did think that during the Wing World Tour of 1975/1976, that Paul could have performed Penny Lane, and right at the end, instead of calling out Penny Lane (like on the record),  called out Denny Laine, who would then go straight into Go Now.

Considering how tight Macca is, I certainly wouldn't share your confidence.  He doesn't go around with his hand on his wallet for nothing you know?

Gotcha. I would change it to he would have to make $1,000 donation to one of my favorite charities like "Make A Wish".

Paul is a musician.  He probably likes music.  It's weird how that offends some of his grumpy old fans.

Actually, I thought it was neat that he did it with somebody like Taylor Swift who is so much younger than him. Nice to hear generations apart artists discussing music. As I mentioned in another post, I would have liked somebody like Ed Sheeran but that is just splitting hairs . Since when is doing an interview to promote a record a bad thing.  The casual fan probably had no idea he has a album/cd coming out, not everybody is like us on this board and on top of things about him.  Finally, Taylor Swift fans will not be buying a Paul McCarteny record (lol) but their parents might - ha ha.
