Tonight I was listening to my favorite radio station, here in the Netherlands.  After the DJ played Maybe I’m Amazed, he just casually said that Paul Mccartney will be coming to the Netherlands next year when he’ll be 80 years old! I don’t know what his source or whatever is, but he is a fan and as a DJ he could know these kind of things quite early on... anyway, keep your eyes and ears wide open for news or confirmations...! Anyway, it got me interested 😉

It makes sense for Paul's team to be negotiating with a few European cities for a Spring/Summer 2022 tour and for that info to have been forwarded to a DJ from that region.

After all, there are musicians who have announced European tours for that timeframe already, such as Eric Clapton in May/June 2022.

          Glastonbury 2022?

According to The Sun there is a rumor circulating that Paul, Elton John, Taylor Swift and Coldplay may be playing there.

If the pieces fit together it can happen the same as the concerts in Japan and Korean in 2014 and 2015: being "rescheduled".

Wow sounds like a nice line up.  Elton has said this is his last tour.  Does anyone know the accommodations for Glastonbury? Any chance to get an air BnB? I know it’s terribly muddy and to bring Wellies. How hard is it to get tickets.  I feel I need to go at least once and the Firefly Festival was pretty muddy in Dover, especially in the psychedelic woods, people were losing their shoes in the mud. So surreal...  so I think I could hopefully handle the mud at Glastonbury . Seeing Taylor Swift would be cool as well!

This information is from January. I think we should wait for more fresh news about 2022 concerts.

I would be surprised if he'll ever be back on the road. Even if the current virus gets under control he's into his 80th year & don't think he wants to risk his health or more importantly encourage mass gatherings furthering the spread of this current Pandemic.

                Toronto - Exhibition Stadium 06/06/93
Toronto - Air Canada Centre 06/13/02
Toronto - Air Canada Centre 08/08/10
Toronto - Air Canada Centre 10/15/15
                Hamilton - FirstOntario Centre 07/21/16

Paul himself said that he wants to go back on tour (he said that in a instagram live to promote "McCartney III Imagined"). Of course, there's not much time left for his touring life, but when he turns 80, he won't automatically be unable to perform. Others from his generation, like Eric Clapton, Elton John and even Ringo, (who will be turning 81 in a few days) have already announced concerts for 2022.

If he is feeling good, I believe we should expect some shows next year. We can't predict Paul's plans, let's just wait and see what happens on the future.

For now, NYC is planning a big concert at Central Park on August and promoters want eight iconic stars to perform a three-hour show. Maybe Paul is gonna be one of these "iconic stars".

We reached a large sitting room, and, as he plopped down on the couch, a hearing aid sprang out of his right ear. He rolled his eyes and, with a complicit smile, used his index finger to push the wormy apparatus back in place.

McCartney also wants to go back on the road, a life that he finds invigorating. “I’ve been doing this for a long time,” he said. “So another me takes over: Professional Performing Paul—the triple ‘P’!” If the question is “Why do you keep at it?,” the answer is plain: “I plan to continue living. That’s the central idea.”

He is apparently appearing tonight at a benefit for Robin Hood in NYC (see the. Looking for Changes thread). Perhaps just a song or two?

He is credited as a special appearance, so maybe he will just say a few words to support the event. I hope I'm wrong, because I really wanna see him performing again.

The event, much like the Met Gala, will be star-studded, hosted by Cecily Strong and featuring performances by Alicia Keys, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the Jonas Brothers. This year, the event will also fall on the 20-year anniversary of the foundation’s Concert for New York City that aimed to help New Yorkers following the 9/11 attacks and raised over $35 million.

Assuming covid iis under control, January should be a great time for Paul to announce a new tour.  Consider....

McCartney III came out a year ago, went to number 1 to critical acclaim.  At my age it is still f"fresh"

October we saw the Let It Be deluxe hit market

I hope you're right, but now I'm not so sure if Paul will ever be back on tour. The Rolling Stones did a few shows in the US this year, Roger Watters and Elton John will be touring in 2022 and Ringo has rescheduled his shows for the next year too. But Paul doesn’t say one single word about live shows.

In conversation with James Daunt, he asked Paul “have you missed performing in this curious and strange time that we are living through?”. He didn't answer the question exactly, he just said he played two songs on Stella’s birthday party and that was his first perform since Covid. I was expectting he was going to say he can’t wait to be back on the road, but he didn’t told us if he is really missing the touring life.

I hope this pandemic ends soon and Paul back on tour, but his apparent lack of interest in performing live worries me.

For a 79/80 year old, touring would just be a hassle for Paul now. But he loves performing live so perhaps he might do what Kate Bush did in 2014 and just do a series of shows at one venue and let the fans come to him?

There was some interview he did when The Lyrics came out when he referred to other side of himself as being Professional Performing Paul that hadn't been around for awhile and he sounded wistful about it. It gave me the impression that it is a part of himself that he hasn't  relinquished.  Of course, that was before the latest covid variant which is already impacting life in the UK from what I can lean over here in the US side of  the Atlantic. In light of that, the pessimistic view may prevail.
