I'm talking more about an "old school" consumer (probably more the older demographic in their 50s, 60s 70s and oler) who would buy a CD Compilation Package IF IT HAD THE "RIGHT" TRACKLIST. LOOKING SPECIFICALLY AT THE TRACKLIST (56 TRACKS/3 CDS)...I WOULD DEFINITELY BE A BUYER ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS A GREAT VALUE/PRICE LIKE $49.95. JUST FOR THE CONVENIENCE FACTOR ALONE, I WOULD DEFINITELY "BUY" THE KIND OF PACKAGE I'M PROPOSING. I'm just saying that I believe there are a lot of people (and in those in that demographic) that potentially would buy.
Honestly, 50 bucks for a triple CD was maybe a great value back in the early 90s. Nowadays, they sell for around half that price. I paid around 30 $ for Pure McCartney when it was released, and that was four CDs (the deluxe edition). There's no way I would be shelling out fifty bucks for three CDs of previously released material.

BJ, your "Rarity" Compilation is very cool and I personally love it but there would be so little interest in it for the McCartney team to ever consider making this happen. I love the B sides you have included and the demo songs McCartney wrote for other artists. If I was doing this project I would include some songs from his soundchecks over the years. You could have some 50's covers, jams and song like "Celebration". In the end, people like you and me would be better off compling this type of thing ourselves on a "playlist" or CD than waiting for a official compilation.

Thanks Yankeefan. I really like the 2nd List I presented...the "Raritiies" idea for a CD Package that I put on this thread. I actually would like the name of the package to be "Leftovers and Raritiies" since so many of the songs in my "dream" Tracklisting were actually "leftovers" that never made it on the "original" Paul Solo albums. In relooking at the Rarities' list on the bottom of Page 1 on this Thread, I noticed that I missed a few songs so with a little tweaking, it could be even better. I think it would appeal a lot to other big time Paul Solo fans like us since so many of the songs in this package would not already be owned by fans who have bought all the original Paul Solo albums in the past. So many of these songs would be difficult to find or buy so the "convenience" of having them in one new package would be great imo.
I agree with you however that the McCartney team (Paul's closest Marketing people and the Label Executives) would probably not do it because it would not be profitable enough. They (including Paul) are probalby more inclined to continue the "Archive" series over the next couple of years where they focus on one of the original albums and add all kinds of extras to them. They make the package more expensive and thus more profitable. I think it is more likely that London Town and Back to the Egg will be next with the "Archive" treatment. After Back to the Egg and Londontown (probalby next year to celebrate Paul's 80th Birthday) they could do "Archive's" for Press to Play and Off the Ground. To be frank, I am cheap and I want all these extra songs (the B-Sides, the unreleased songs, good extra songs not on the original albums etc) to be in 1 affordable package. I think Paul's team want to continue to drag out the Archive Series because they can make more money that way.
Right now for this Fall and Christmas, the focus will be on the new Beatles' Product (the "Let It Be" repackages etc). Maybe by 2022 Paul will get back to the his Solo Archive Series. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
How are you and your family feeling at this point with your recent Covid diagnosis. Hopefully all is better with you guys. I will send you a PM. Presently, my wife and I are enjoying our stay at our Atlantic City Condo. Next week we have our family Wedding in Philadelphia and in 2 weeks we head to New England to see my Daughter outside of Boston. Can't wait to see them and our Grandson who will be 3 in December.

Nancy...Thanks so much for the video of "Your School". I have heard it years ago on Youtube but your video here was longer. I'll have to hear it a few more times but initially it sounds good and yet is another Paul "unreleased" song. Can't believe Paul has so many songs never included on any original Paul Solo Album or Compilation.
Sounds like you had a blast at the Abbey Road on the River Fesitval. How was Laurence Juber? Did he do a few Beatle songs and any Back to the Egg stuff. I love his guitar playing!

I only saw him once as a "sideman" to Peter Asher and once with his own band (but really just like a solo artist with sidemen) You're not going to believe me, but I can't say for certain what he played! I think he did Getting Closer and Jet. I'll have to ask Leslie what she remembers. She has a much better memory than I do! We had to watch from stage right as they wouldn't let the GA ticket holders in even though there were tons of seats!

Laurence Juber did a set on Saturday afternoon at AR0TR, when it was raining. I remember he did Spin it 0ut and Rockestra from BTTE, and a few Beatle songs, but can't tell you exactly what he played, sorry... it was raining and there were a lot of distractions..

I'm enjoying some of these "finds" even if I have heard them before - they seem fresh.
The list seems to be getting better. I don't need to have any other people doing covers or reimagined stuff. (Just my opinion only).
I like the sound check idea, and alternate versions of some of the songs.
I would get a kick out of Paul putting at least one song idea from his small recorder or phone - so that he could remember it or come back to it. (for all to hear) I would like to hear those and even his comments . I really like/love many of the originals - that being said, I reach for these demos, soundchecks, alternate versions, rehearsal and working it out and plain goofing around and radio play as something not heard as often or played as it should be.
To please the "Only know a few of the hits" fans - should be relatively easy. The best compromise that could be possible is something like John Lennon and George Harrison have . The album for those who only want a fresh copy and seek no more with plenty of Demos, outakes, alternative tracks etc. (*If you are trying to please all). If it is for the deeper fan - then I would take most rarities, bootlegs like stuff, demos, alternate takes, tape rolling and wandering through the idea etc....
Probably like the lists here that have a bit of balance and stabilty - that aren't heard as often and are packaged to be played and heard.

I think Paul and MPL understand his audience so they don't need fans trying to convince them to release compilation albums, much less choose the tracks.

Really. The same brillant people when they decided tracks for "Pure McCartney" they did not include any songs from one of his better solo albums (FITD) which was the album he was promoting when he did his first solo tour. The great management team that does not sell his most current CD's at his concerts. BTW - this is a fan forum and there is no harm in wishing for a complitation of "deep cuts", unrelased songs and different versions of songs (live). I wish Paul and MPL loved Paul's solo songs/albums as much as the OP of this thread !!

It's crazy that they don't sell Paul's current albums/cd's at concerts. Other than in a festival setting, I don't think I've been to a popular music concert where they didn't sell the artist's recent music, except for Paul. His concerts would be an ideal place to sell this "Solo Classics" compilation album as well.
