Petition: Paul, tour with an orchestra and choir
-
On Paul's next tour he should develop it similar to the Concert For Montserrat (1997) or Elton John's 60th Birthday show at Madison Square Garden (2007). Elton had two choirs join him for songs during the show. Elton has also performed Orchestra concerts over the years in major world cities doing 3-5 night runs. Paul could develop a show that showcases Orchestra and Choirs for songs like: The Long And Winding Road Let It Be Hey Jude Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End She's Leaving Home Mother Natures Son Letting Go No More Lonely Nights Anyway My Valentine Good Day Sunshine Band On The Run Big Barn Bed Something Magical Mystery Tour Backseat Of My Car Maybe I'm Amazed Silly Love Songs C'mon People Feel free to sign the petition. Paul's shows keep getting better all the time!

You have forget "Pipes of peace" , recorded with a children choir Would be perfect for this show.

Along the vein of the KISS Symphony Tour... which for a heavy rock band was quite inspired. I like the idea... even if I don't agree with all the song choices.... but I also like the idea of the antithesis complete stripped-down intimate acoustic tour. Accompanied by a narrative for each and every song.

Think Paul's concerts are expensive now? Try putting this together. Nice idea though.
-
I'd rather he just bring back the horn section.
-
I personally wouldn't want to see Paul play/sing with a choir, I would much rather it be his band and him, the way it is now. I did see Paul do "Yesterday" with a string quartet this past summer, and that was lovely to see live, but as far as a choir singing backup, not my cup of tea.

Agreed.

Yes! Exactly! If The Rolling Stones and The Who can afford to bring horn sections on their tours, then Paul can too.

I was watching the rerun of Paul's appearance on SNL last year when he sang My Valentine, which included both the addition of a choir, orchestra and also kept the core band together (although I don't recall seeing Rusty in there)...and it worked out well...and it didn't leave poor Wix out of a job either (he added a nice bluesy keyboard arrangement to the mix and it was really nice)...LOL But with that said, I don't mind how the band tours right now...but yeah, it would be pretty cool to see/hear a true orchestra coordinated along with a live Paul McCartney show - however, I still stand by what I've always posted here, which is that the Penny Lane piccalo(sp) trumpet piece remains the only Wix induced brass sound that causes me to wince a bit...everything else is at the very least passable if not outright brilliant ***the Penny Lane comment above is not intended to blame Wix for the shortcoming since I believe he makes that keyboard sound probably as authentic as possible...but I just don't think it's possible to recreate that sound without it sounding as fake as hell

Yeah, remember when Paul was honored at the White House (and sang Michelle to Mrs. Obama?) He did Penny Lane with a real piccolo trumpet player (a Marine I believe) and it was so cool!!

Yup (supporting Elvis Costello's tribute performance of that song)...What's funny is that I don't recall noticing this so much back in 1993, when he first introduced Penny Lane into his shows...although when I listen to 'Paul is Live' nowadays, it does strike me the same way the more current performances of the song...I'm sure some new/young brass artist would love a chance to tour with Pau and play the piccolo trumpet for cheap money

I would be happy if he just had a horn section like he did with WOA tour.

Great idea! The stage certainly always seems to be big enough! 2nd petition: can I play in this orchestra!

I saw Jimmy Page and Robert Plant in Albuquerque in 1995, and they had the local New Mexico Symphony Orchestra play with them. It was amazing! Page and Plant just used local orchestras to perform. Yes, it takes some time to have a music director work with them, but it is a lot cheaper than dragging a full orchestra around the world on tour, and they sounded great.
