Regarding the unreleased songs. The choices here are based on unreleased songs that have leaked out on bootleg over the years.
However there are many more that we know exist in terms of sing titles, or ones that have been mentioned in interviews that we don't know the titles off. And in Paul's archive will be many many more that we know nothing about. For example when winter comes had never been heard of until mccartney 3
Thanks Darrel. And you make a great point about Paul's own Archives. This is why I think a collection like "Leftovers and Rarities" should be done sooner than later. Hopefully in June of 2022 and there might be even a few more surprises beyond my list.

This is what I've always wondered about too. I'm SO curious to know what Paul has in his archives. Hopefully someday we'll hear it.

Couldn't agree with you more McCall. Even if Paul has just a couple of "non-leaked" gems in his own vaults, it would surely only "Add" to this idea of a "Leftovers and Rarities" collection. As "Darrel" wrote..."When Winter Comes" was totally unknown till McCartney 3 was released. We now know, "When Winter Comes" was recorded on the same day that Paul first recorded Calico Skies and Great Day. Hopefully he had a few more totally unknown and catchy songs.
I like the name "Leftovers and Rarities" for a future collection. Just looking at my 2 volume lists, there are so many songs on Youtube already that were never on any of Paul's Solo albums. Some of my favorites include:
Yvonne's the One
On the Wings of a Nightingale
Flying to My Home
This Loving Game
Back on My Feet
Loveliest Thing
Mama's Little Girl
I Can't Imagine
Love Come Tumbling Down
Rainclouds
Broomstick
Sally G
Daytime Nightime Suffering
Country Dreamer
Waterspout
**I could go on and on but none of the above examples were on original Paul Post Beatle "Solo" Albums. Just think if Paul had just a couple of additional songs that no one has heard of yet like "When Winter Comes". I do think that there would be a lot of interest (from both hard core and casual Paul fans) for this type of "Leftovers and Rarities"Collection if it was released around Paul's 80th Birthday. On top of the fact that many "older fans" still buy CD's, some of these songs would get added to Playlists like Spotify and Pandora.

While Paul is releasing the "McCartney Trilogy" in August 2022, I don't consider it a "New Project". All MPL is doing is combining the original McCartney, McCartney 2 and McCartney 3 into one package. While it's a nice idea, it's hardly a "New Project".
Since the McCartney Trilogy is being released this August, I still love the idea of a "Leftovers and Rarities" project for 2023. This would be a true "New Project". I also like the idea from Bruce of keeping "Leftovers and Rarities" to "1" CD. By keeping the price of this CD to under $10.00 (starting Sale Price in the beginning) it would give a great low price for Casual Beatle/Paul fans to "try it". If successful (and I know it would be) Paul and MPL could create a future full set (probably a 2-3 CD Package) of "Leftovers and Rarities.
As far as the "meaning to the title", Leftovers and Rarities would cover Paul songs that never made it onto their respective original albums. And, of course, they would all be "Rarities",
Here is my 1 CD starter Tracklist:
Leftovers and Rarities
1. A Love for You - an early "Ram" take and later completed for the "In-Laws" Soundtrack. A great rocker!
2. The Mess - Live at the Hague 1972 version of an early Wings rocker with great guitar work by Henry McCullough.
3. Best Friend - Another early Wings rocker that this first incarnation of Wings did "live" in 1972.
4. Sally G - great B-Side to "Junior's Farm"
5. Waterspout - Unreleased song originally done during the "London Town" sessions.
6. Daytime Nightime Suffering - Another great B-Side to Paul's "Goodnight Tonight",
7. Rainclouds - Great B-Side to the huge single Ebony and Ivory. The late great Paddy Moloney from the Chieftains does the "Pipes" on the song.
8. On the Wings of a Nightingale - Paul's demo that he wrote for the Everly Brothers "comeback" album in 1984.
9. Yvonne's the One - Unreleased song from the Press to Play Sessions. Cowritten with Eric Stewart.
10. Flying to My Home - Great B-Side to the "My Brave Face" single
11. Loveliest Thing - Another great B-Side to the "Figure of 8" single
12. Love Come Tumbling Down - Great B-side to the "Beautiful Night" single
13. I Can't Imagine - Great B-Side to the "C'Mon People" single
14. Whole Life - Cowritten with Dave Stewart and released on the "One Year On"/Nelson Mandela tribute album. Best version in my opinion.
15. Home Tonight - Written during the Egypt Station Sessions but never appeared on the album
16. In a Hurry - Written during the Egypt Station Sessions but never appeared on the album.
I can't imgine this CD not being a good seller. Too many terrific songs that most casual Beatle/Paul fans don't even know.

I like your idea, the songs and keeping it to one CD. I will disagree with you that there is decent enough audience for this type of CD to make it commercially viable for MPL to do. Paul has enough trouble selling his latest CD's with them getting good critical reviews and being promoted. This type of CD is more for the people like us really into his solo career than the casual fan. This is why this project will not be done IMO or if done it would be after the re-issues have been completed.
This list reminds me once again how good Paul's B sides are and the best idea about this type of CD would be to give them their due as excellent songs . Once again, Paul amazes me with the selection of his songs when you see "In A Hurry" and "Home Tonight" did not make the original "Egypt Station" album. Both of these songs are better than "Come On To Me" and "Fuh You" but what the heck do I know -lol. Finally, I have always wished Paul would have done his own official recording of "On The Wings Of A Nightengale" and this type of project would be perfect for it.

Great points Yankeefan especially about "Home Tonight" and "In a Hurry"being better than "Fuh You" and "Come On to Me". There were a few more songs that I considered for this type of "Starter CD" for "Leftovers and Rarities".
One song I was thinking about was "Goodbye" the song that Paul wrote for Mary Hopkin. Not sure that Paul would legally be able to do it since "Goodbye" was written while Paul was still a Beatle. It was also a bonus track on the Remastered "Abbey Road"CD. I would think that maybe Yoko and Shawn would give their approval for one of Paul's Solo Cds if something like "Leftovers and Rarities" would ever come to fruition. Since "Goodbye" was a hit for Mary Hopkin and Paul was definitely the solo writer, I would love for Paul's demo version to be included on some sort of future Paul Solo album.
Another rarity song of Paul's I really like was "Back On My Feet" (B-side to Paul's "Once Upon a Long Ago"which I think was one of Paul's and Elvis Costello's first joint written songs. I like Paul's demo version the best and would defiintely fit on an album like "Leftovers and Rarities".
Finally a song that would be deserving is "Once Upon a Long Ago" which was a quasi-hit for Paul in Great Britain. Unfortunately it never was released in the USA so it is a "rarity" in many ways. If "Leftovers and Rarities" was released during the Christmas Season, "Once Upon a Long Ago" would be nice Christmas type "single" to release at the same time.

Great song choices! I think most casual Beatles fans have no idea how good Paul's solo music is and would be blown away if they gave it a chance. The issue would be getting enough people to give it a chance so keeping it to one CD is probably the best option.

This is just a fantasy CD created by B J. (one of many he has come up with)

Since I have already done my "Starter CD" for LEFTOVERS AND RARITIES (on this page a few posts above) Here would be my 2CD package for the Follow-Up -- LEFTOVERS AND RARITIES.
LEFTOVERS AND RARITIES (CONTINUED)
2 CD PACKAGE
DISC 1
1. Oh Woman, Oh Why (B-side of Another Day single)
2. Give Ireland Back to the Irish - Early single for Paul but promptly banned in Great Britain. Love Paul's vocals and a great electric guitar work by Henry McCullough.
3. Goodbye - Hit single that Paul wrote for Mary Hopkin. I love Paul's simple demo here and should be better known
4. Country Dreamer (B-Side to Helen Wheels). Great little country tune and a track that Linda really loved
5. Soily - Live version on Wings Over America (final track).
6. I'm Carrying - Great deep cut on London Town and later released on the "In-Laws" Soundtrack. I like the "In-Laws" Soundtrack version the best.
7. Mull of Kintyre - The single was a huge seller in many countries (not the US however). Paul played "Mull" quite a few times at his Canada Shows. Pick the best "live" version.
8. Cage - Unreleased song from the Back to the Egg Sessions. Great relatively unknown track.
9. Wanderlust- Great deep cut on Tug of War. I love the "Give My Regards to Broad Street" Album and Soundtrack. Youtube version is the best with the little snippet of "Here, There and Everywhere" at the end. One of Paul's very best and should be far better known.
10.Tough On a Tightrope - Extra track on Press to Play but never was on the Album Press to Play. Great song and should be better known.
11. Write Away - Another Extra track on Press to Play and not on the Press to Play Album. Great song in my opinion and should be far better known.
12. Only Love Remains - "LIve" version on the British Tube Show. Linda and Judith Light (from "Who's the Boss" TV fame) sing back-up for Paul. Great version and Paul plays a little snippet of "Great Balls of Fire" (the Jerry Lee Lewis classi at the end.
13. Simple As That - Extra song from the original Pipes of Peace Sessions but not on the album. From what I remember most of the McCartney kids sing on this song. Simple As That later appeared on the "It's a Live-In World...the Anti Heroin Project.
14. Put It There - "Live" version on Tripping the Live Fantastic Album. Great version
15. Mama's LIttle Girl - B-Side to the Put It There Single.
16. This One - "LIve" Version on Tripping the Live Fantastic Album. Great version.
17. Love Mix/Waiting for the Sun to Shine - Old Paul song that was added to the Flowers in the Dirt Archive Edition.
18. Back on My Feet - One of Paul and Elvis Costello's early joint- written songs and B-Side to "Once Upon a Long Ago". I like Paul's demo the best.
19. Once Upon a Long Ago - A hit and single in Great Britain but was hardly ever played in the US. Another great relatively unknown song.
20. That Day is Done - "Live" version from the Paul and Elvis Costello original demos. Far better than the "Flowers in the Dirt" album version.
Disc 2
21. Hope of Deliverance - "Live" version from the "Up Close and Personal" show done at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in NYC. Paul's vocals are great here and the overall song is better than the studio album version.
22. Lovers That Never Were - "Live" version from the Paul and Elvis Costello original demos. Far better than the "Off the Ground" studio version. Paul's vocals according to Elvis Costello are one of his best from his entire career.
23. Sweet Sweet Memories - Another leftover from the Off the Ground Sessions and added to the Off the Ground Complete Works CD. The Off the Ground Complete Works CD was only manufactured in Germany.
24. Long Leather Coat - B-Side to Hope of Deliverance and was on the Off the Ground Complete Works CD.
25. I Owe It All to You - "LIve" version from the "Up Close and Personal" show at the Ed Sullivan Theatre. Better than the Off the Ground Studio version.
26. Same Love - Another leftover from the Flowers in the Dirt Sessions and added to the "Flowers in the Dirt Archive Set"
27. Broomstick - B-Side to the "Young Boy" single and added to the Flaming Pie Archive Set.
28. What It Is - one of the original rockers that Paul wrote for the Run Devil Run Album. "Live" version done at the Cavern Club in LIverpool. Great version and even better than the album version in my opinion.
29. Try Not to Cry - Another Paul original written for the Run Devil Run Album. "Live" version done at the Cavern Club in LIverpool with Paul's Run Devil Run Band. Great version and far better than the Run Devil Run Album version.
30. Run Devil Run - Title Track for Run Devil Run and Another Paul original written for the same Album. "Live" version done at the Peta Los Angeles Show. Great verslion.
31. No Other Baby - "Live" version done at the Cavern Club. The Definitive version in my opinion.
32. Fabulous - B-Side to "No Other Baby" and not on the original Run Devil Run album.
33. Brown Eyed Handsome Man - "Live" version done at the Cavern Club. Great version
34. Lonesome Town - "LIve" Version done at the Peta Show in LA. Great version.
35. India - Unreleased track and done on The Secret Website Show in 2003. Great track featuring all members of Paul's currrent Band.
36. Celebration - One of Paul's best "Classical" songs on the Standing Stone Album. Love this instrumental version with Paul at the piano.
37. Comfort of Love - B-Side to the "Fine Line" Single
38. Growing Up, Falling Down - B-Side to the "Fine Line" Single
39. This Loving Game - B-Side to the "Jenny Wren" Single
40. Summer of 59 - B-Side to the "Jenny Wren" Single
41. She is So Beautiful - Extra Song on the Japanese Edition of Chaos and Creation
I stopped here with the Chaos and Creation album and its subsequent B-Sides. I love these tracks that really show how great a composer that Paul is especially considering that most of these songs never made it on their original respective albums. The other thing I added are "LIve" versions that in many cases are better than their "studio counterparts. That is the "Rarities" side of these collections.
If this is successful (And I'm sure with the right publicity it would be) you would have another CD or Two featuring many of Paul's Leftovers or Rarities from Paul 's very fruitful writing period from 2007 (Memory Almost Full) all the way to the current times with McCartnly 3.
Again, I think Paul really needs this from a "legacy" point of view. He was far more than just Beatle Paul in my opinion.

This is just a fantasy CD created by B J. (one of many he has come up with)
Mods should change the title of this thread. It is VERY misleading. It should say POSSIBLE CD.

Thanks for your opinion Fan 4 -45 years. NJR is right...this "Leftovers and Rarities" is not an actual Release for 2023. It's an idea that I "hope" Paul and his team would consider. I don't like the term "fantasy" CD becuse I think that my idea is based on many factors that long term would be good for Paul's legacy. As I said, I think he is far more than Beatle Paul. I was critical of Paul's recent "Got Back Tour" setlist because I thought he badly overlooked his Solo career on the whole. I understand why he has such a Beatle heavy Setlist but my whole idea of something like "Leftovers and Rarities" is to let all kinds of fans of Paul McCartney know that he was far more than Paul McCartney, one member of the Beatles. He wrote many good to great songs after the Beatles broke up and this type of "Leftovers/Rarities" concept would go a long way in proving that fact.
Sorry for the misconception. It wasn't intentional on my part but I still hope it will happen. I hope you agree.

I agree Oobu. I think most people understood that the "Leftovers and Rarities" idea was something that I hope Paul and his team would consider it for 2023 but even if one boardie thought that is was an actual Release for 2023. the title should be changed.

Just a couple of additional notes to my 2 CD Leftovers and Rarities package above.
#9 Wanderlust...While I've always loved "Wanderlust" on Tug of War, I also love the Broad Street Soundtrack version. I especially love it because George Martin brilliantly adds a little snippet of "Here There and Everywhere" at the end. Makes it a very special track in my opinion.
#36 Celebration...Part of the "Secret Website Show" in 2003. On top of Paul and full Band play many songs "live", they also included this great and special rare track. On "Celebration" Paul plays a beautiful piano with the rest of the boys playing their instruments. This is why I added it to this tracklist. A great Paul melody in my opinion that should be far better known.
On top of the 16 "Starter" CD tracks, you have a total of 57 tracks. Looking at this list, these are not "throw away" songs. They a good to very good songs. This is why Paul needs a collection like "Leftovers and Rarities". It spotlights how many good to great songs are relatively unknown to casual Paul fans.

This package is just worth it for "Soily" live -lol !! Lots of good B sides and one of my all time favorites is "Summer Of 59". I like the inclusion of songs from "Run Devil Run" especially "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" which Paul does a "killer" vocal. Glad you included some of his original songs like "Try Not To Cry" from "Run Devil Run" which fit is so well with the 50's cover songs on the album. Good choice of adding the demo "Goodbye" which was done for Mary Hopkins, always wished Paul would have done CD with his official version of songs he gave to other artists. Since Paul is a great live performer, it is excellent idea to have live versions of several songs. Quite often, these versions are better than the album cut.
Finally, I would be shocked if MPL ever decided to do somethng like this so maybe you should make your own bootleg - just teasing !!!

Thanks Yankeefan...I love both the Starter 1 CD list as well as the 2 CD tracklist for something like "Leftovers and Rarities. I still can't believe how good Paul's vocals were during the Run Devil Run period. When I saw his live show at the Cavern Show (I think it was 1998) his vocals were top notch. He also did the Peta Show in Los Angeles a little later that year and again his voice was great. Those Run Devil Run Songs at those shows were exceptional. As I said, hIs "live" versons of "No Other Baby" and "Try Not to Cry" were definitive tracks in my opinion. His band during that period was also terrific. That David Gilmour guitar break in the middle of "Try Not to Cry" was super. Believe it or not, these songs "live" were even better than the album versions.
This "Leftovers and Rarities" idea is not a fantasy idea in my opinion. Paul and his team already have all these songs in their vaults. Just a matter of putting them together in an inexpensive CD package. I agree with you that MPL and Paul probably look strictly at profitability and they would rather put together Archive-like packages that are real expensive. I just hope that the right people look at these tracklists and agree that for Paul's own legacy right now, it is the perfect project for him to do. How many artists have that many songs that are relatively "unknown" to the masses of Paul and Beatle fans. I love all those B-Sides! Anyway, we just have to hope that Paul does something like "Leftovers and Rarities" while he is still alive. This would be such a good "Release" to do over the next year especially considering how different it is from the "Got Back" tour.
Btw Yankeefan...I will send you an email about the latest on my September Alaska trip.
Thanks again for your comments.

It was too bad it was too soon after Linda's death because I would have loved to seen Paul do a small tour of UK/Europe with this band. He could have played the RDR album from start to finish as the first set and take a break. The 2nd set could have been a bunch of early Beatle songs with a few songs from his solo albums like "Take It Away". Like you said the live versions of RDR are excellent.

IMO the only legacy Paul and his team really care about is his Beatle/Wings legacy. The re-issues are done for one and only one reason and that is profit.Like you, I love all the "B" sides which begs the question why they never made the original albums -lol.

Just an FYI, the live show at the Cavern was in Dec. 1999.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_the_Cavern_Club
And his singing voice was still excellent in 2002 when I saw him in Atlanta. Missed the 2005 tour, but it was probably still good then.
You and I must have a different idea of what a fantasy is.
Your idea for these "Leftovers & Rarities" is YOUR fantasy. Yes, if MPL somehow read your post, theoretically it could be done. But the odds of that happening are close to zero, that's what makes it a fantasy (the faculty or activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable)
My fantasies tend to be on the impossible end of the spectrum, like wishing I was 18 in 1968 and had met Paul that summer!

Nancy...we will have to agree to disagree. I remember when the subject came up about which songs Paul should play for the upcoming "Got Back" tour and a couple of fans were listing songs like "Monkberry Moon Delight" or even "O'h! Darling". Now for anyone to think that Paul could sing those kind of songs with his current voice is pure "Fantasy". I admit I don't know anything about the costs involved in releasing a new CD but what I'm talking about is using the same audios' of old songs when Paul could really sing is something totally different. It may not be a "realistic" idea but it's not pure fantasy.
Thanks for pointing out when Paul and his Run Devil Run Band did the "Cavern" Show. I was close but should have looked it up before replying.
