Just finished listening to the Glastonbury concert on BBC Sounds. He actually sounded better than usual and he didn't try to "jazz up" the lyrics like he used to when he thought he couldn't hit the notes. AND he has finally gotten the lyric correct in Lady Madonna (I think he did it correctly in 2019 too) "Did you THINK that money was heaven sent?" (he used to sing "know" which made no sense!

Just watched the BBC iPlayer show now that it's up. The full set is there, including In Spite of all the Danger. And the sound has clearly been mixed/balanced, much better than on Saturday's initial broadcast.

Watched the video last night - a very good show. For all the (legitimate in my view) griping about this setlist when it was on tour, it was clearly pitched exactly right for this crowd, who ate it up. And the band all played a blinder. A couple of notes:
- Paul really tore it up on Purple Haze, that was very impressive.
- Maybe the best Maybe I'm Amazed since about 2015, he really went for it.
- I don't particularly dig either of the Egypt Station songs in the set on the record, but they're both really powerful live.
- You can see why ISHST isn't in the set regularly these days. Was very odd seeing Paul take the low harmony, though it worked well with Grohl.
- Did the flash pot at the end of Live and Let Die fail? Paul was doing his usual fingers in ears pose, and then... nothing! Followed by him laughing about it. Ah, technology.
- I was surprised he brought the "Out There" video platform to Glastonbury, and I'm curious if that meant the stage was further back than it would otherwise have been.
- Something I hadn't picked up on as much until this video is just how complex the Mr Kite bass line is. Crazy that he learned that and manages to do it live every night.
- What on earth happened to his guitar at the start of I've Got a Feeling? You could tell the audience didn't really recognize the song until Rusty came in.
- No "see you next time" at Glasto, which I suppose is fair enough, if we're lucky enough to get any more gigs, he certainly won't be doing this one again.

I was wondering if people were hopefull that this will be released on DVD / Bluray . The performance is terrific , and there's been a lot of goodwill shown to it fairly universally , so it surely makes sense ?
i for one am very keen to buy it .

im watching a compilation someone has made on YouTube of his Glastonbury set from different gigs filmed on phones . On letting go and got to get you into my life he's hitting the high notes effortlessly . The modulation on letting go is not easy !

It's very unusual for Glasto sets to be released, because they're owned by the BBC and not by the artist. Both Bowie and indeed Paul had to get permission for their previous Glasto releases. I wouldn't expect this one to come out. Fortunately there are plenty of places it has fallen off the back of a truck

Strange how they don't ask him the same question at 80. Probably because now he's a "national treasure". "An elder statesman". The last time I saw him "live" was 2003. He woulda been 61. He sang just fine. But I knew, for me, that would be MY final show. Also, at that aged, 48, I was beginning to worry about my hearing. I like rock/ heavy metal music too. Been to see Deep Purple ( 5 times) Whitesnake. Alice Cooper. Bad Company. Magnum. Iron Maiden. All these bands are LOUD!!!!! Now at 67, I don't go at all to see anybody. Wanna preserve what's left of my hearing.

I'll put some context to that mini rant, it's just when he started got to get you into my life I surprised myself by selling up from nowhere - it reminds me of all the gigs I've been to, he played it at my first in 1990, buying revolver Xmas 86, just my life. Paul's been my life, as he is for many here, but when you older (47) and an illness that gives you an uncertain future, you realise what has meant things to you the most, and Paul has made me so happy. And I'm happy he's still here, and his voice isn't what it was but it's not that bad. I get sick of negativity from fans. I love him, I'm glad he's not dead. And I wish I wasn't ill. Night night, I'm watching Paul on telly.
I have to take issue with the term, "negativity", I'm afraid. As a life long fan of 60 yrs, stating that Paul's vocals have seriously deteriorated ( and they HAVE) now, isn't negativity. It's stating a plain FACT! We are his fans too. We have the right to state, how it is. And how WE see things. When we say maybe it's time he retired, we say it out of LOVE, not hate or negativity. Even a living legend has to retire one day. We love the guy, we don't want him getting to the point of embarrassing himself onstage, AND damaging is unequaled legacy. And it is not only unequaled, but its unequaled permanently. No pop stars today can even dream of having a career like his, nevermind do it in actuality. So please stop implying that we have nothing better to do than "hate" on Paul McCartney. We are not hating on him. We are concerned for him. There is a difference. Just to add one more thing. Tickets are tremendously expensive for a Macca concert. When I saw him in 1976, my ticket cost £3.50, about 7 dollars. Never in a million years did I think Tickets would cost over a THOUSAND dollars ( with perks of course. One fan paid
4 THOUSAND dollars for his tickets. Yes his money, but that is INSANE) in the 21st century. BUT, if fans want to pay that kinda money to hear a living legend with sub standard vocals, then I support them, and say go for it, it's your money ( even though I secretly think they are mad ) So please stop calling our "concerns" for Paul McCartney, "negativity" It's only negativity when it comes from critics of Paul McCartney, haters of Paul McCartney, and there are PLENTY!! When criticism comes from his fans it's heartfelt. Ok, rant over lol!!! -
