Set List critique

I think having 'Listen To What The Man Said' as tour feature and 'Hi Hi Hi' in the encore comes close to the 'Venus & Mars'-opener and 'Letting Go' addition then. But yes, that evening had that AND 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five' AND 'Every Night' back. If only the pace of swapping and refreshing wouldn't have been this damn slow, we would have been much more impressed.

I've come to really like that version. Still, expecting a new, live performance of "Soily" is a dream that I'd let go of years ago, as many fans have told me that Macca hates the song now.
This "Macca" guy sure has no taste in music - lol !!

I know we're always calling for more Wings/Solo to be added but if he's going to stick with The Beatles there are actually still some songs I would be thrilled to hear... Rocky Raccoon Martha My Dear What You're Doing Can't Buy Me Love She Came in Through The Bathroom Window Mother Nature's Son You Won't See Me When I'm 64
-
Like what? Ringo's songs?
-
Still hoping he'll surprise us with Silly Love Songs and Backseat Of My Car.
-
He could do a cracking version of Rocky Raccoon, it'd suit his current voice well. Silly Love Songs is something I have wanted for years but I no longer think he could handle the vocals. The Back Seat of My Car would be a massacre.

"Rocky Racoon" is another one of those shockingly ignored tunes. I'd love it, believe it or not. And, sadly, I must agree with you on "SLS" and "Backseat" -- that is, if McCartney didn't re-arrange them to suit his mature voice. As someone who'd love to see "No More Lonely nights" live, I have to accept a similar compromise. Because, in my opinion, McCartney's '80s songs are actually much more technically complex to sing.
-
Well, I'm sure there are many of us who'd like to get him to sing Rocky Raccoon, live, at least... to settle our bets!.... but I figure it'll go the go the way of: "Now, somewhere in the black mumble mumble hills of Dakota Johnson.... Paul, give us the answer! Don't say You Gave the Answer.... 'cos we're waiting. It's easy! Just tell us!

I adore both songs... just don't think he can pull them out, but I really hope I am wrong.

He could rearrange the whole set and i'd be happy, just to hear a different angle on the old staples would be refreshing too! I look forward to the piano version of Helter Skelter with great eagerness!

The encouraging thing is that -- even at 72 -- Paul McCartney's falsetto prowess remains unquestionably, eye-crossingly awesome -- as evidenced at the ending vamp of "Cut Me Some Slack," that high-octave C that he still hits rather effortlessly on "Band On The Run," among others. So, this could mean new possibilities of "Backseat..." which Paul could possibly do in a lovely falsetto today. Worth attempting, anyway.

He won't be able to remember the words! He'll just look at what's been printed. sorry Nancy.

re: Rocky Raccoon Black minin' hills... Case closed.

"Rocky Raccoon" would definitely be an odd choice, but I'd welcome it. I think he could still pull off "Silly Love Songs" but it'll never happen. "The Back Seat of My Car" and "No More Lonely Nights" are undoubtedly out of the question at this point. He probably could've done the latter maybe ten years ago. It's a shame he didn't so we'd have it on a live album.

Some Wings tunes would be awesome..and some solo stuff from the early 80s would just make my life 'No More Lonely Nights' is still my all-time favourite Macca song
