If not entirely Wings/solo (cos you know THAT will never happen), maybe just a handful of Beatles favorites.
There’s so many of us, “The Wings Fans” that is... the Beatles have their own XM channel now. Wings and Paul soulo is more current. I know it will never happen, but there are so many great post Beatles songs that you could do a great Paul concert without the Beatles. I guess Paul must not like that idea. There are some great Wings cover bands and Thank goodness for Denny Laine going out there and making our wishes come true!

Every year it's the same discussion among the fans, but I think he's tried to create the best setlist he can from hundreds of songs that he's written. It would be impossible to please everyone. I'm just grateful to be able to see him in concert, so would be happy to hear anything he'd like to sing for us!
As someone who's taken professional singing lessons for many years, I understand as I get older that it's not as easy as it once was to hit the high notes. I'm sure Paul is the best judge of his own voice and musical abilities, but whenever the time comes that he no longer feels comfortable tackling a particular song's high notes, he has so many other songs to choose from that stay in the medium voice range. "Calico Skies," "She's a Woman," "Mrs Vanderbilt," "Appreciate," and "Cosmically Conscious" as well as Buddy Holly's "Words of Love" (which the Beatles recorded a cover of) are just a few examples I can think of.
I feel right now would be a good time for fans to post their feedback and criticism of his setlist. With the release of the upcoming album, there will probably be a few new songs added to his setlist, so no doubt there will be some songs taken out, and rearranging done. Because of this, it is a good time and opportunity for fans to give feedback, and request songs they'd like to hear, because it's possible these posts will be read by the powers that be, that are organizing any upcoming tours/shows, and they can take these requests into consideration.

^ Well that is the purpose of this thread. And a bunch of other threads. He plays to newcomers & they have had Beatles songs for years. Most of them don't even know the solo songs. During soundcheck last time, for every solo song, I asked the girls next to me if they had ever heard that one. Nope! They mostly come for the Beatles songs. Sad.

Yes, when he did the NY area concerts last year, people seemed really excited about some different songs being added at the beginning, and also when he was in Australia, the addition of "Mull of Kintyre" seemed a really popular choice as well. Will be interesting to see what the changes are to the setlist during his upcoming tour season, after the new album is released. Am especially anxious to hear songs from the new album! But like I said before, I'll just be happy to be able to see him in concert, so would always enjoy hearing anything he chooses to sing for us.

I have given up after many years of hoping and now will not attend any of his concerts anymore.

That is another sore point to me regarding his current setlist. A bunch of us fans have bought his solo records since 1980 and yet we rarely get to hear the music we love live but people who have not spent a dime on his career but the one concert get catered to with his set list.

If new album is ready, he will play 3-4 songs from it but I would not expect any other major change.

I assume that is why many people have left this forum. The songs have been listed here numerous times. Yet he plays the same ones over & over. Many of will still go to the shows & enjoy them but I wish I could hear some solo favorites before it's too late.

To some it sounds like it's an issue of feeling their requests haven't been heard, after posting suggestions for a long time. Since we're not privy to any meetings or discussions from Paul's side about his choice of songs, there may be reasons he feels are valid, that we don't know about, as to why he feels comfortable with his setlist Perhaps if people knew those reasons, they'd be able to understand. But if fans would like him to change his repertoire, the best they can do is post their comments and suggestions, and hope Paul and/or his staff will read them and take them into consideration. Everyone has that right to express their opinion and what they'd like to hear. Fans should be considered "paying customers" of the musical product he's selling, either via recordings or concert tickets, so hopefully the powers that be will take that aspect of it into consideration as they read any feedback.
What he chooses to put on his setlist isn't an issue for me. I'd rather hear Paul sing the same songs that we all love, than not hear Paul at all! lol I enjoy hearing them. Just my own opinion. But I respect your right to have your opinion too

I think it is rarely simple. McCartney feels that basically all anybody at his concerts care about are the hits. I also believe at the prices he charges for tickets, he thinks he needs to do Beatle heavy set list. Being a bit of a cynic, why should he change anything? He can do the current show in his sleep, people are paying hundreds of dollars per ticket to see it and the media critics write reviews like they are fan boy/girls instead of being a journalist.

I don't feel Paul is a cynic toward his fans (cynic is defined as "a person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons.") I think he'd save that view for ruthless, ambitious and selfish people within the entertainment industry, who would want to establish a connection with him in order to get ahead, and can understand how he could become somewhat cynical and protective. But I feel he always tries to remain positive, and do the best he can, in spite of that.
I feel the reason he "sticks to the same script" as far as his songs goes is because it makes him feel safe and comfortable in having a sense of structure, and order, and using songs he's familiar with. Not saying he isn't a free spirit and creatively spontaneous, it's just some songs that sounded great with non-instrumental sounds mixed in the recording studio might not sound the same live, so he'd have to make sure they were arranged differently and rehearsed well, in order to have them sound just right when they're performed live, so it does take some preparations for songs he hasn't done in a while.
I haven't seen videos on YouTube of The Rolling Stones, or Bruce Springsteen, or Billy Joel, but on their various stops of a tour, do they mostly "stick to a script," and say the same stories and sing the same songs? Seems like Paul wouldn't be the only one who does that, and that pretty much is the norm for most major artists today.
Not sure what changes will occur with the upcoming tour, but if anyone has requests for songs they'd like him to play, all they can do is post their requests here, and hope their requests will be heard and submitted to the powers that be!

LOL. Remember when we all discussed Elvis Costello's show? He uses a spinning wheel with song choices. Someone said that Paul's would have maybe 4 Beatles tunes on it. haha...sad but true.

He did 5 songs live during the promo gigs though, while he was endlessly on tour around the album release of 'New' and that saw only 4 songs played live on tour. 'Chaos' had 4 as well, on tour around the release of the album.
True, but it was a different environment. Paul knew that these were small one-off shows and he wouldn't be touring and probably didn't care quite as much about pleasing the masses. If we had gotten a full fledged tour supporting the album in 2007, I suspect it would've received standard treatment.
Exactly. IMO Mr. McCartney does not worry as much about the masses in other places outside the USA.
Goodness! Would I ever love to hear some different songs, like That Was Me or House of Wax! The list of solo songs could go on & on. Thank goodness I have fanmade DVds of all the shows so I can hear some of his songs that he won't play anymore.
