...song associated with John Lennon, I have a suggestion...it's a song that is a John song, but has a very distinct Paul 'stamp' on it (based on the vintage bass performance) and 'sounds' exciting enough to jack up a fresh audience for the beginning of a good long night... Rain
But with that said, I'd prefer to minimize the non Paul penned songs to a couple of tribute numbers -
I say play REVOLUTION
hell yeah comrades!

(yes, it was sung by John on lead) Paul was being driven somewhere and he talked to the driver who said he'd been working "eight days a week" so Paul took that later to John and they worked on it. Paul also helped John put together "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite" It wasn't a "solo" John effort! "Rain" would be great though, I agree!

I always thought Eight Days a Week was an almost joint effort for John and Paul with Paul having got the phrase from his driver. Think this really works well as an opener, but for next time round hope he considers dropping Mr Kite, don't get me wrong was great to hear but maybe do another from Sgt Pepper. Same goes for Day Tripper, yes Paul has every right to sing it, but has been in show at least 4 to 5 years.

Oh, I agree. I want to hear "New" stuff (literally & figuratively) like What You're Doing, Another Girl, Appreciate, I Can Bet, etc!! I would freak if he opened with something surprising or off the wall like Why Don't We Do It In The Road!
Has he ever done Ticket To Ride? (I know, a John song, but Paul sings harmony!)

Same with: HELLO GOODBYE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR VENUS AND MARS/ROCK SHOW DRIVE MY CAR (probably the opening song with the most input by Lennon) FIGURE OF EIGHT GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE

Oh. I'd read the witty Ringo came up with the phrase "Eight days a week." Shows you again you can't believe everything you read

Ringo coined the phrases: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS probably others.

From Paul's biography 'Many Years From Now' " Sometimes he would be chauffeured out to Kenwood. On one occasion this provided the impetus for a song. The driver was not one of the regulars that Paul knew, but as they were turning into John's driveway Paul casually asked him if he had been busy. 'Busy?' he said. 'I've been working eight days a week.' Paul went into John's house and told him, 'Well,I've got the title: "Eight Days a Week".'Paul: 'Neither of us had heard that expression before so we had that chauffeur to credit for that. It was like a little blessing from the gods. I didn't have any idea for it other than the title, and we just knocked it off together, just filling in from the title. So that one came quickly". Hope that clears it up

Yeah, that was what I was paraphrasing.

Gotta' admit: If Paul whipped out "Rain" on us, I would NOT be complaining.
-
If Paul can do EIGHT DAYS A WEEK, why not: I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND FROM ME TO YOU SHE LOVES YOU

Exactly!

Not a Beatles song... But Paul said that "Beautiful Boy" was his favourite John solo song.... I would love him to do this. Even ahead of Here Today. It's simply a beautiful song. And would be a great tribute.... But as an opener.... She Loves You would be pretty, pretty good

Yeah - I think part of what's influencing me is that finally, 2 years after buying a Hofner Bass...the lesser expensive 369.99 (at Guitar Center) version (I think it's call the icon series), I decided to actually make an attempt to learn how to play it...and I've been trying to tackle 'Rain'...It's actually not all that difficult to play...I don't have it down note for note and a couple of the runs are way far out of my league But I could 'fake' through an entire performance with the basic riff (for the most part...LOL)... But anyway, while undertaking this attempt to learn the song, I've been listening to it quite a bit (both the Beatles versions, bass cover versions and bass tutorials) and struck me that this would sound freakin' awesome played in a full blown arena rock scenario

Have to admit I didn't realize this...I hear John in this song and simply assumed
ops:
But anyway, thanks for the info...BUT...my thoughts regarding Rain remain notwithstanding

"I Want To Hold Your Hand" to lead off the show, "She Loves You" to lead off the second encore. No better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles in the USA.

I don't know - I like the Beatlemania years...but in my opinion, that phase of their career only shined so brightly because the world had yet to see what the Beatles were about to really unleash on them, starting with Rubber Soul, Revolver and beyond...LOL

Killer bass-line, and the harmonies are also killer. Get to practicing!

I just read in You Never Give Me Your Money that Paul said that he missed harmonizing with John and he wanted to on Come Together, but he was too embarrassed to ask.
