Buying camping gear this weekend! If I meet any fellow boardie-folks at the 'Roo, I hope it's BEFORE I start reeking to high Heaven...

Save up some money for the onsite showers.

Will most likely book a nearby hotel ... or just drive home, shower and come back squeaky clean. Regardless, if there ever was a time for Paul to whip out "Smile Away"...

Good choice! 7 bucks a shower is outrageous. I stayed in a hotel last year and it was decent, but I'm full-fledged camping this year. The benefit to the hotel is that the action winds down for some relaxation if that is your thing.

This week I will be attending my tenth bonnaroo music festival (I missed 2006 and 2012) and I am so glad I will be seeing Paul McCartney for the thirteenth time at my favorite music festival. Does anyone think McCartney will surprise us with a rare song that originated from the region by an artist from the state of Tennessee? One of many Carl Perkins' songs like "Matchbox" or "Sure to Fall (In Love With You)" or "Movie Magg" or Arthur Crudup's "That's Alright" made famous by Elvis Presley? Bonnaroo isn't a regular tour date so I hope to see a one off from McCartney. And/or will McCartney bring out a special guest? His son James perhaps? Or Tom Petty? Or someone else that's performing at the festival?

He would have done one of those songs in Memphis surely. As far as the special guest rumors, we have all heard the Ringo rumors and I doubt this will happen highly. The biggest rumor I have heard is actually Tom Petty possibly bringing up possibly either Stevie Nicks (like he did at roo in 2006) or a member of Eagles. I don't see why he has to do something special here. Festival performances like Coachella and Isle of Wight were just as if it's another show.

Agreed, and he did not do any of those songs during the regular set, altho at the Memphis soundcheck, he did add a very nice, bluesy version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"to the two Carl Perkins' songs he usually does.

And if he does soundcheck at the festival, it will be open. This was Phish's soundcheck in 2009 to give a perspective.

Just read about the bassist for Mumford & Sons having surgery for a blood clot; they had to cancel 3 gigs this week but supposedly are still on for 'Roo. I know it's nothing to do with Paul's appearance but in case anyone here was looking forward to catching their set on Sat, hopefully they will still appear.

Maybe Paul will be their guest bass player?

He'd have to break out the upright bass. That is what they use in Mum&Sons. It would be neat to see McCartney playing in that environment. After all, the festival was founded around the idea of collaboration.

I certainly hope they still do play. I was very excited to see them. Sitting at the Orlando airport, I'll be in Nashville at 9.30am. I've got a few stops to make on the trip and not just Bonnaroo but two more days and my third show in a month!

They will broadcast the first hour.

Is that it!? Do they not show the entire set? Edit: You are correct
