Fookin' A this is exciting. Cue all the ill-informed "never knew McCartney rocked this hard/wrote this song/was this good/could put on such a show" reactions from festival-goers in June...

The Beach Boys yielded very similiar results last year. This should be a great event for Paul.

Only problem is...I'll be in Disney World with the fam on Saturday afternoon, so someone else is going to have to buy my ticket. I think I know just the girl. This whole lineup is rad.

We'll be in Orange Beach, AL that week so we wont be able to make it either. Am betting he does some sort of tour this summer though.

          Liberty Bowl, Memphis 4/27/1993

          Reunion Arena, Dallas 5/10/2002

I might be wrong, but I don't see McCartney using their staging for this show, meaning I don't think Paul would play without his stage. And I doubt he will fly all of that out for one show. It could happen, but I am betting on other shows being scheduled around that time. Maybe not in the vicinity, but certainly five or so other shows in the USA.

I will be a tad jealous that you're sunbathing while I'm freezing my ass off in Indiana...but what are Paul soulmates for? I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!

                pood for paul:

Tickets go on sale Feb 23rd. Price level 1 (cheapest) is sold out. All details on the site.

                There must've been a pre-sale.

It must have literally happened in the hours between the announcement of the line-up until a little while ago, as I hope people aren't buying tickets for a show when they don't know who's playing.

But they do for these festivals! I think the presale for Bonnaroo was back in November. I know that Lollapalooza always sells their lowest-priced ticket packages at least a month or two before they ever announce any of the acts. Some people go to these fests every year, no matter who is performing.

I love Paul but I think that he should take some chances and play some of his more freaky stuff for the people at Bonnaroo! Here's a way to start the concert, in the dark...play the "Can you take me back..." snippet from the White Album and then launch into something like "Cut Me Some Slack." There are so many wonderfully weird Paul songs that would be much appreciated by a festival audience. His setlist at Coachella a few years ago seemed to be what he would play during a regular gig. I mean, I would play OTHER songs from The Fireman albums besides the two he has played. What do you think?

I'm predicting "Silly Love Songs" for Bonnaroo.

                    Fort Wayne, IN

                    Madison, WI

                    Moline, IL

Part of me was kinda' hoping that Paul wouldn't play Bonnaroo... ...but, instead, let The Fireman play the gig! And The Fireman could cover a few, progressive Macca cuts like "Dark Room," "Morse Moose & The Grey Goose," "Blue Sway" and the album version of "Coming Up." Maybe a first-ever live performance of "Rainclouds"? But I can settle for Paul.

I couldn't agree more, I think he needs to rip apart his set for this gig. No Blackbird, Long and Winding road etc. Maybe through in Maybe I'm amazed but the acoustic songs really don't work in a festival setting he should mix it up and hit them hard.

If the reissue of WOA is released in early June, you'd think Macca would play songs from that to promote it. Plus maybe some new unreleased songs from his new album.

"Jimmy was a cool guitar player. Henry (McCullough) had been too, but Jimmy seemed a bit special." - Paul McCartney

I don't think Bonnaroo is the right event to tout the WOA reissue.

Well if he plays a heavy only set, it will last about 30 minutes!!

Wouldn't the headliner close the festival (June 16)? I am assuming that Paul is regarded as such.

I'm pretty sure Paul's playing the Friday night, Radiohead were top of the bill last year and they played the Friday.
