Knoxville in the books. My first Macca show in 5 years did not disappoint! Just a few observations and notes randomly collected throughout:
- The new Get Back footage, plus "Get Back" being in the main set as opposed to the encore set, was a highlight for me. I would've loved to see it be the opener for the "Got Back" tour.
- Abe's "Dance Tonight" routine as enjoyable as ever. Just put a big smile on my face.
- Water bottle! One sip mid-show. A rarity to see. Not sure if that's become common on this tour.
- Possibly (somehow) the best "Here Today" vocal I've heard in a decade of tours, in my opinion.
- The horn section!!! What an enhancement to a lot of these tracks. I missed the last tour, so this was new for me. "Letting Go" and "Got To Get You Into My Life" beefed up and sounding awesome. But the swelling brass throughout the "Hey Jude" chorus took it to a new level of euphoria.
- Nothing from McCartney III? I was really hoping something would make the setlist. I love how Paul singled out "New" as a new song (going on 9 years). I think that album is aging well and it was nice to have it in the setlist.
- Sitting in the aisle by an usher revealed an alarming number of fans complaining about the Ticketmaster app tickets. Groups of people with all the tickets on one person's phone - combined with having to show tickets anytime entering the main floor - really seemed to irritate many and create extra foot traffic. Seems like a lot of people who haven't gone to a concert in awhile.
All in all, I loved it. Coming off that break, the Get Back film, the pending 80th birthday - I think it just created a wonderful mood for me to sit back and enjoy the show.

Great show last night. Very surprised at how well his voice came across live. As noted earlier, he did take a drink of something and it was just befor doing Blackbird and Hete Today which must be the acid test for his voice.
My wife and I both agreed that songs were better because he didn't strive to hit the high notes that are now out of reach. Amazed at how well Maybe I'm Amazed came across.
Preconcert music may have held clues to the next Archives release with both With A Little Luck and the unreleased Waterspout being included. Both, of course, ware from the Londontown era. With a little luck, maybe that and Back to the Egg out for Christmas. Others have reported coasters being sold with these album logos
Regretfully MIA-anything from Macca III. Always nice to hear Let 'Em In.
Fuh You more tolerable live than on ES. Made me long for the better songs from that album.
Really liked the Money/Bathroom Window medley.
Abe must be hardest working drummer on the planet.
Back in the USSR wisely sidelined. Loved the Ukrainian flag.
Hot City Horns were great. Wish Coming Up had been the lead off song.
Great to see him after seven years, especially as I missed 2019 as I was recovering from dangerously severe sodium depletion.

Media told everyone to get there early for parking and as a result, there was a huge cluster at all the doors when they opened, and it took ages to get inside. Very disorganized and the heat didn't help. We were there very early for limo watch and then had a ton of time to waste because Paul arrived before 4:30, which is super-early for him. If I had known how bad the doors would be, we would have camped out near one so as to be first in.
Knoxville had a great, loud crowd which Paul acknowledged several times. His voice definitely sounds better live. He did take a drink before the platform solo set, and also took another one right before Live and Let Die.
John - Coming Up gets done in soundcheck sometimes and does sound great with the horn section. It would be fun if he put it into the set.
And it seems that Women and Wives has disappeared; I thought he was doing it on alternate nights, but during a discussion about it after the show, I checked setlist.fm, and it seems that it has not been performed since Fort Worth. Which is disappointing. I am glad I caught it in Seattle (at a show and a soundcheck).
Will see if I can remember anything else unique to Knoxville...

Good review. I have a CD of the Glasgow soundcheck from 2018 and the Hot City Horns and you are right, they do sound great on there, Must have been great to attend the soundcheck.
Real shame about Women and Wives being seemingly retired. Perhaps he will return in the fall with the ladies and some of their "friends" from Macca III?
that crowd WAS great, haven't been to a concert since I last saw him in 2015 but I am sure they were a plus 10 in enthusiasm. That yelling exchange with a fan up front was funny

When I walked out of the parking garage, those gates were soooo backed up. I walked off to the side where the parking lot was and walked all the way around to the other side of the arena. There were two gates back there that had way shorter lines. When the doors opened, they split the lines into smaller ones and opened more doors. Got right in. It was very disorganized in the lobby area though. Once the souvenir and food stand lines overlapped with the other foot traffic, things got tight! Still not as big a mess as when I went to Candlestick Park in '14.
And yes, I noticed the crowd as well! Very responsive. He stopped multiple times to acknowledge that (not just the "drink it in" routine). "Something" got a very loud response in particular. Especially when the whole band kicks in. I was hoping Paul wouldn't say anything in advance about John in "I've Got a Feeling". I think if he just surprised everyone, the crowd would be even louder once he appeared on screen singing.
"Women and Wives" reminds me of when he brought "On My Way to Work" out to Albany and then it disappeared...lol.
