Yes, I definitely think it depends on when you became a fan. If you were like Stella, asking her dad "What was the name of that group you were in before Wings?"
...or Dhani Harrison who thought his dad was a gardener.

Yes! I think only Julian and Zak were old enough to understand that their dads were the famous Beatles! (at the time, I mean: 1966-1970)

Not that it's important, but I think I see some stubble.

In May 1976 in the U.S. NO ONE said I have tickets to see Wings.

Exactly! It was "Paul McCartney!" (although I suppose there were some 2nd generation young fans there who said "Wings")

True story: I saw that tour and told a college friend I was going to see Paul McCartney. He responded, "Wings"?

Do you count Wings' albums as part of Paul McCartney's solo discography or should they be considered separate from his solo work?
I consider anything he did 1970 and on as solo. In other words, not as a Beatle. But a subset of that is Wings from 1971 to 1980. He was always the "star of the show" and only in 1976 did we even get to hear anyone else but Paul sing.
This is how I think of it too. Wings, Paul's touring bands, The Fireman, Paul and Linda, etc, are all sub-categories of "Paul Solo".
Well,I'm certainly going to continue to disagree that Wings were a sub-category act. Wings were Wings, a group in their own right. Its a bit like saying that the Faces were a sub-category of "Rod Stewart solo". Or Roxy Music were a sub-category of "Bryan Ferry solo". How about the Police being a sub-category of "Sting solo"? Or The Jam being a sub-category of "Paul Weller solo"? A list of other examples would be endless. As with most groups, one (or two) of the members will always dominate but that doesn't mean the group is just some form of backing group for that particular member.
Yes I agree. Wings were a fully formed band. I don't believe Wings were Paul's "backing band". Yes we did see members come and go, unlike we did with the Beatles set up, but that was because Wings were already in the spotlight, because of their most famous member. Somebody mentioned here about them having never heard of Paul McCartney. Here is a true story. Several years ago me, and my Beatles fans friends, decided to go to Osterly Park to recreate the the Band On The Run album cover picture. Paul went there in 1973. A week before me and my friends went there, i went on my own. The reason being that when we all were going there together, the next week, I didn't want us spending the whole day looking for the wall Paul used, and then it gets too dark for somebody to take our picture in the Band In The Run, "pose". So I goes on my own and I found the wall. But just to make sure it is the correct wall I decided to ask a member of staff. Bad idea
. Anyhow, I found a young girl to ask. Clearly she wasn't born anywhere near 1973. Far too young. So I explained I was looking for the wall that Paul McCartney used for his Band In The Run album picture, and did she know of any park keeping staff still working now, that woulda been there when Paul was there in 1973? She said yes, would you like me to call him on my phone and ask him? He's in the park somewhere. I said yes please. So she phoned him. This is how the conversation went: Young girl: "Hello? Fred? I have a man here who is looking for the wall that a Paul McCARTREY used for his 1973 album, ABANDON The Run". I'm thinking, who is this Paul McCARTREY? What is this album, ABANDON The Run??
Clearly she hadn't heard of Paul or album. I just kept telling myself, it's just an age thing LOL!!!!

I will get myself in trouble.... but Paul was Wings.... I think Denny did a great job.... as in, he contributed three or four great songs... and he might have been great as a stabilizer... he might be underrated in that role... Again and Again and Again is a great song... I love it...I reckon Steve Holly was getting very popular... but c'mon... no Paul... No Wings.

That being said, I hope Denny (eventually) got due compensation for his contributions, which are probably seen as "unders". He deserves the accolades for his contribution.

Just an fyi, it’s Steve Holley and you neglected to mention the great lead guitarist Laurence Juber. He’s (to this day) phenomenal! I probably mentioned before that I’ve met them both several times irl - super nice guys! Even met their wives - Laurence’s (Hope) had a short stint on The Brady Bunch show when she was a young teen.

I'm pretty sure I know which one Hope was... I think she was Greg's girlfriend when Bobby let loose the frogs when they were at the drive-in. I might be wrong. And she played a couple of different roles. Never the same character. I can picture her, as she was then... I was just a kid, but I loved the Brady Bunch.

Not bad, at all.

That being said, some really good songs co-written with Paul..... sung by Denny.. Deliver Your Children is great.... not one of my 'go to' songs at the time... but, as one gets older... I really like it.... very clever, underrated song. Back in the day when I was listening to music, as just a young fool kid, expecting every song on an album to be a "hit".... when songs seven and eight and eleven on an album were just as instrumental to the overall flavour of the album... no, this is just a great song that fills its place on the album perfectly.
