Wow, this is a cool suprise! And so is the announcement that the setlist won't be the usual setlist! I guess this is what we've been wanting to see! I hope someone makes some cool video's! Enjoy, for the people that are actually going!

According to the Cheese & Grain website, MPL Tours is filming the show "for future use", which is good news.

I read that the venue holds about 800 people.

They film everything. Apparently cell phones are not allowed. We'll see.

Ok, this is the moment I have been waiting for and let's see if Paul delivers. Doing a surprise show at a small venue and there is absolitely no reason for him to be concerned about first timers seeing him and playing mostly Beatle hits. Yes, he is going to do Beatle songs but damn if he does not do 2-3 "McCartney III" songs and a couple of different solo songs than it is hopeless. That being said no matter what he decides to play it will be so cool for those in attendance to see him in small venue which is about as close up and personal as you will ever get. Looking forward to hearing details about show.

Reminds me of the Pappy and Harriet's gig he did in between the Desert Trip weekends. I don't believe that setlist was very different than his usual, so not holding my breath for this show. But it will be amazing just to see him in a small venue! Tickets were only available at the box office and went very quickly from what I heard.

Yes, they announced at 6pm GMT it was sold out. (tickets went on sale at 5pm and if it seats 800, that means 400 people each bought 2 tickets - you'd have to be insane to  buy only one as you could sell it for £££!)

Hopefully some "real fans" get to go and enjoy the show.
That would be a cool experience.

No, but, only the lead booker has to show ID, so if you buy 2, your have a second ticket that you could take your lifelong best friend in with you (who you only met an hour before and they gave you £5000 as a present)!!!!! 😉 There will be a few doing this i reckon. Rightly or wrongly.

And yeah, MPL film it all anyway, hopefully a bit will come out, but we'll see. It's good PR for Paul - mini show then giant show, and a good warm up for him and the band to get teh buzz going. I doubt it's a hugely different set - MPL etc usually say that to cover themselves and hint that (duh) there's no big screens and it'll probably have a few covers and sounchecks staples thrown in.

think it's fab he's doing it, wish i lived down there!!!

Well if the show started close to ontime, it should be happening now. I wonder when some details of the show will be leaked. While I would not expect hugely different set, I would love to see some "McCartney III" songs like "Find My Way" and "Slidin" done. If he did those and maybe 1-2 other different solo songs from "Egypt Station" for example I would be happy. IMO to create buzz he is going to have to play something different, maybe Beatle song like "Rocky Raccoon". If he stays too close to his normal set it will be very "ho hum" event even in small venue.

The lead booker has to show photo Id to get in - the same ID they had to show when they bought it, so they can't sell their one ticket - but if they bought 2 as allowed, they will be able to unofficially sell that one on as that person just has to go in next to them.

And there was a report on the tv news half an hour ago about the gig, reporting from outside showing people stood listening, as it was still going on.

There's an unconfirmed setlist posted on Setlist.fm. I'm not expecting much of a surprise setlist, like Eeee Cor Blimey said. I was very much expecting Women and Wives, since he's been doing it at soundcheck and maybe C Moon in the mix. If the setlist I mention is to be believed - it's simply a shorter version of what he's been doing during the Got Back Tour.

Apparently they were meant to take people's cell phones away. Will be interesting to see if any footage comes out before MPL releases. Last time it was Liv Tyler with Stella that shared some video from Abbey Road, if I recall correctly.
