      More additional track notes ...

Waterspout- Unreleased and from the London Town Album Sessions. There is no backdrop story that I'm aware of. Musically it has a reggae, island kind of feel to it. Like the Ram leftover, it's very catchy and makes you happy.

Yvonne's the One - Unreleased from the Press to Play Album/Sessions. Another "feel good" type song that should have been on the Press to Pay Album.

On the Wings of a Nightingale- Unreleased song that Paul gave to the Everly Brothers for their comeback album in 1984. It was a quasi hit for Don and Phil and Paul has released a Demo version of the song

Love Come Tumbling Down- Finally released on the Flowers in the Dirt Archive Edition (big expensive package). Very good rocker with great vocals from Paul. In retrospect, another B-Side that should have been included on the original Flowers in the Dirt album in my opinion.

More notes on these additional suggestions:

Daytime Nighttime Suffering- Great B-Side I had never heard until Paul added the track on the Wingspan Compilation in 2001. Instantly loved this upbeat song and Paul's vocals. Even though it was only on Wingspan, it's obscure enough to include it in my opinion.

India - Unreleased and Paul/Band performed it on the "Secret Internet Show" circa 2002. Several Maccaboard members here suggested "India".

Celebration- Paul and Band performed it on the same Show above. While "Celebration" appears on one of Paul's Classical Albums, I think it's rare enough that I thought it would make be a good addition.

Whole Life- Paul collaborated with Dave Stewart on this great Rocker. It was included on the big Flaming Pie Archive Package but I think the best version appears on the Nelson Mandela Global Initiative CD called 46664 One Year On.

Cut Me Some Slack - Paul wrote this one and played live with the Foo Fighters on this great rocker. Best version appears on the Sound City Reel to Reel album.

I Want to Go Home- appears on the "Everybody's Fine" Soundtrack and one of Paul's best ballads.

In the Blink of an Eye- appears on the Ethel and Ernest Soundtrack and one of Paul's best late period (2016) ballads.

My Soul - Paul collaborated with Nitin Sawhney on this one and only appears on the London Underground Album.

Simple As That- Unreleased and Paul wrote this one during the Pipes of Peace Sessions. It appears on the "It's a Live In World" Charity Album. What makes this song unique is that Paul's children are back-up singers.

Vanilla Sky- while Paul sang this live several times during the concurrent tour, the best version is on the Music for Vanilla Sky Soundtrack album. The production is great in my opinion.

Mull of Kintyre - While this was a massive hit overseas, it got little airplay in America. Paul did "Live" versions many times on his British and Canadian shows with Pipe Bands. Pick the best "Live" Performance. Even late in Paul's tours, Paul could still sing this one beautifully.

Maybe Baby- this great Buddy Holly cover is the lead-0ff track in the Movie Soundtrack. I love this faster version.

I Don't Know- Live version done during the Glasgow Soundcheck. One of Paul's best Solo songs ever in my opinion.

Only Love Remains- Live version done on the British "Tube Show". Paul sings and plays piano with Linda and actress Judith Light singing back-up. Paul does a little snippet of "Great Balls of Fire" at the end.

Wanderlust- Great George Martin produced track on the "Broadstreet" Soundtrack. Paul does a little snippet of "Here There and Everywhere" at the end.

As you can see, I believe that Paul should really make a splash on this proposed album and make it a 2 CD with about 40 tracks. He certainly has plenty of "Rare" songs/versions that most people have never heard.

Yankeefan pointed out how many of Macca's "live " are better than their studio counterparts. If there was room, here are a few I wouldn't mind making a "Leftovers and Rarities" Package.

Put It There- Live version on the "Tripping the Live Fantastic" CD

This One- Live Version on the "Tripping the Live Fantastic" CD

Hope of Deliverance by- Live Version from the Ed Sullivan Theatre Show

Try Not to Cry - Live version from the Cavern Club Show ( Awesome guitar solo by David Gilmour)

There are a bunch more examples for sure.

                      Other Great B-Sides:

Summer of 59 - B side on Jenny Wren
This Loving Game- B-side on Jenny Wren
Comfort of Love- B-Side on Fine Line
Growing Up, Falling Down- B-Side on Fine Live

As I said, if there is enough room on a 2-CD Package, the above unknown songs would be great additions

                        Other great "Live" tracks:

"Get Out of My Way" - great deep cut on the "off the Ground" album. From my memory, Paul and Band did it on the MTV show at the Ed Sullivan Theater in 1993. One of the best songs on "Off the Ground".

"Sing the Changes" - Paul did a great "Live" version on the "Good Evening New York City" CD. Originally on Paul's Electric Arguments Album.

" Only Mana Knows", That Was Me, House of Wax -all three of these tracks are on the Amoeba Gig CD.
Paul and Band also did them at his Paris Show.

A few more "unreleased Paul McCartney songs" to consider for a "Leftovers and Rarities" type of Album for 2023:

Lindiana - Unreleased song that first surfaced on the "later scrapped" Return to Pepperland" album.
Nice ballad that I think Paul wrote for Linda.

Squid - B-Side on "The World Tonight" Single. Joyous, Feel Good Instrumental and later appears on the Big Flaming Pie Archive Package

I Love This House - B-Side on Young Boy Single and later released on the Big Flaming Pie Archive Package. David Gilmour plays "Lead Guitar" on the Session.

Love Mix / Waiting for the Sun to Shine- Unreleased song that later appears on the Big Flaming Pie Archive Package

Don't Break the Promise - Unreleased song that Paul and Eric Stewart wrote during the Press to Play Sessions. Later appears on the Big Flaming Pie Archive Package.

Same Love - B-Side on the Beautiful Night Single and later appears on the Big Flaming Pie Archive Package.

I'm pretty much finishing up with this topic- Possible New Paul Album for 2023. I'm sure some members on Maccaboard are breaking out a bottle of Champaign at this point!

As I have previously said, I think this makes a lot of sense for a "Fill In" type of Album/Project for 2023 if Paul doesn't have a new album of brand new material ready. Ideal Release time would be around Paul's Birthday (June of 2023) in my opinion.

                            This proposed package would contain:

Many Unreleased/Rare Songs from Macca's Solo Career
                            Rare Live Versions
Many B-Sides from the same eras
Hidden Gems not on Original Macca Albums
                            McCartney Songs from Movie Soundtracks

While this Package might not be a huge Seller initially, I think it would be a "grower"with the right amount of consistent advertising and publicity. The largest Target market would be Casual Paul McCartney/Beatle fans. At the same time it would certainly appeal to Hardcore Macca and Beatle fans because of its unique tracklisting. An added customer benefit is the "convenience" of having all of these rare songs in one package (CD's).

To help initial sales, one option might be to offer an inexpensive "20 Track / Starter" CD. At Retail, I could see the big chains (Walmart, Target) putting it out at a Sale Price initially for $9.95. Other big Direct Marketers might have similar opening prices. With a successful introductory launch, I could see a bigger 2 or 3 CD package up next selling for $39 or $59 depending on the size of the set. The 2 Cd package might have around 40 tracks and the 3 CD Set could have around 60 tracks.

As always, the Marketing of a new Paul McCartney Product would be crucial. Because this product would be so unique with great stories to tell on so many of the songs, I can see many good reviews /articles appearing that will help "Pull" the sales through the pipeline.

In my opinion, what makes this Set so appealing is that it is totally different from Paul's previous Compilations. It doesn't contain any of the same songs/versions that past compilations had. Many of the tracks are hidden gems that is almost like "new" music to many Paul/Beatle fans. For Paul's Legacy this type of new Project is what's needed now. Paul McCartney is not only "Beatle" Paul, his Post Beatles' Career has been equally "remarkable".

I agree, it would have to be promoted more than the box collection was. Perhaps it could be released after the new 70s Paul movie comes out. If Paul does do interviews for it they may have to ask him new questions! e5fa1a1a-b0b8-445f-bcad-0d16d7b723b5-image.png

One thing is that these packages are not strictly for "Collectors". As you can see, these sets are for music fans and would, in my mind, be very inexpensive. No expensive packaging that the big Archive Releases have.

You brought up a very good point. The Tracklists alone would force media people to ask different questions than what has been going on for years. If the media does its job, they will ask Paul questions about his Post Beatles Career.

Exactly, when they eventually release an album with all the rarities, I hope it is not limited to only collectors.

There were 3 "Live" Shows in the 90's where Paul's voice was stunningly good. They were:

                                    • televised MTV Concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC (1993). I think it was called "Up Close and Personal". It was to promote the "Off the Ground" new album. Paul's voice was so much better than what we heard on the album. Highlights included:
                                      Hope of Deliverence
I Owe it All to You
                                      Peace in the Neighborhood
                                      Get Out of My Way
                                      Off The Ground (title cut)

                                    • Live At The Cavern Club (December 14 1999)

                                    • PETA- Party of the Century

Not only was his voice phenomenal, there's a bunch of songs that would be great for a "Leftovers and Rarities" type of Compilation. My choices would be:

                                    Hope of Deliverance
I Owe It All To You
                                    Peace in the Neighborhood
                                    Get Out of My Way
                                    Off the Ground
Big Boys Bickering (not on original Off the Ground album)

                                    No Other Baby
                                    Run Devil Run
                                    Try Not To Cry
                                    What It Is
                                    Brown Eyed Handsome Man
                                    Lonesome Town
                                    Shake A Hand
Fabulous (not on original Run Devil Run Album)

The Run Devil Run "Live" vocals were phenomenal!
The Off the Ground songs/vocals were much better than the studio/album tracks in my opinion

I think the next release will be the new music recorded with Andrew Watt last year. If it's released in CD format it will probably be in limited quantities with minimal packaging. The rest of the back catalog (London, Back, Broad St., Press and maybe Cold Cuts) might only come out in vinyl and download/streaming formats. I'm afraid the CD era is quickly coming to an end. And that's a shame, I've only been waiting 40 years for Cold Cuts to come out and to not have the whole Archive Collection in CD format will suck.

Man, I hope you’re wrong and they keep issuing CDs! 😢 I have a 2016 car that still has a player. I don’t understand why they stopped putting them in newer cars?! Did Sirius XM bribe all the automakers?

I think most people either have music on their phone or like Sirius so they figure why bother. I have older car with CD player and glad it has one, guess I am one of those old people -lol

I would prefer new music and would love to hear the songs he wrote for the musical "It's A Wonderful Life" which was delayed by COVID and appears to have been forgotten. Few years ago, Paul stated he had already written 20 songs for the musical. This included opening number which he said the producers loved.
