I can see the headlines now: "Nancy R arrives in Liverpool for the 4th time! Beatles-related sites brace for impact!"
-
Pretty impressive that the Beatles bring in such huge amount of money to Liverpool after almost 50 years. I am planning to make a trip up there also for the first time to see all the sights.
-
I may be headed back in September!
-
I go to Liverpool about once a month

Ah I would love to be able to do that! I could see myself living there but there is the whole work visa thing.

I first visited Liverpool in early 1981. There was nothing...NOTHING for the Beatles fan. I was lucky to find a postcard with their image. Nobody wanted to have anything to do with them then: many still don't. I had to get a map and hop public buses to see places of interest. A meal in a pub was chips, bangers, a sanger or curry. You literally couldn't get a steak or decent food. The place was really like the American wild west; threatening, rough and violent. It sure has changed...BUT the undercurrent remains. I love the place!!!

My buddy plays for an Aussie band named, Backbeat. They'll be there in August.

Beautiful!
ETA: That ferris wheel was not there the last time I was there (in 2011) The Jurys Inn was where we met for our coach tour of Liverpool and surrounding area (like the Casbah in West Derby)

I had no idea the Ferris wheel was such a new addition to the city! We stayed at the Jurys Inn and the view from my window was that with a great view of the top of the Liver Building as well. Popular pickup place. Jurys Inn is where the shuttles for the tours of John and Paul's homes pick up as well.

Are you sure Nancy? As a photographer i always keep the date that i took the picture with my photo, i took this one of the wheel on 14th February 2011. Maybe they took it down again later in the year, and put it up again (sounds daft but sometimes happens when wheels are "new", cities have them temp, then decide to have them back and keep them..? But it has been up constantly from Dec 2011 i know that for fact, and it was up for Paul's Dec 2011 arena gig next door.
It was def on that date, the photo history says so, (as does my diary - i know i went to liverpool on valentines day that year!), and also my way of memorising the dates taken by keeping minis like this say so too.
That pic is even on my kitchen wall!
Can you guys spot it?!
(ok ok, enough showing off my 10 x 8s

Wow! GREAT pics! Reminds me of a wall I had ages ago with photos from trips we took out west...like Arizona & Utah. Thanks for posting those here! I really enjoyed them.
