What’s with all the celebrity splits lately? The latest is my favorite actor, Hugh Jackman, and his wife Deb. They were married 27 years! I am totally stunned over this! He is almost 55 and she is almost 68. If it was her idea, I think she’s NUTS!

@njr Nancy, I was really surprised to read about Hugh Jackman's split as well. He had health problems a year or more ago, that can usually cause stress in a relationship... but usually it pulls people together to help each other get through it! I remember reading that Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas separated for a while when he was going through his throat and tongue cancer ordeal, but eventually they worked through that and got back together.

He’s had numerous skin cancer operations on his nose. He never used sunscreen when younger. Now he does and wears hats too. I doubt that has anything to do with their split.
There was another celebrity couple that split awhile back that also stunned me, but can’t remember who it was! Any ideas? (this was well before Sophia Vegara & Joe Manganiello, which also surprised me)

I think maybe it was Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s divorce that really surprised me.

@njr I was surprised to hear about Kevin Costner's recent separation, and the divorce in court is still ongoing I think... his ex is wanting a lot of money... anyway, thought he and his wife were pretty solid... Was also surprised many years ago when Mel Gibson and his wife split. He's a devout Catholic and he joked once that strict Catholics don't get divorced, if there's a serious problem in your marriage and you want out, you just get on your knees "and pray that one of us will die."

My sister's ex-husband works with someone who was friends with Brad Pitt during his college years at MU (University of Missouri-Columbia) and still keeps in contact with him... he was not surprised that "Brangelina" split - he felt the initial attraction between them and ensuing relationship was based purely on sex and other than that they had nothing in common, personality wise. Seems they couldn't agree on even basic things, including how to raise their children. He predicted that when the initial attraction wore off their relationship wouldn't last, and he was right.
