Firstly, I'd like to say that if you haven't seen this movie yet, you should, as it's one of the best, most interesting and innovative films that I've seen in a long while. For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's directed by Richard Linklater ("Dazed and Confused"), and was shot over a 12-year period with the same cast, including Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette. It's basically a coming-of-age story, as the narrative follows a boy named Mason (played by Ellar Coltrane, who literally grows up on the screen before you) from the age of 12 to 18. For more info/reviews of the film, go to http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/boyhood/ Anyway, getting to the point of this post - there is a great scene in the middle of the movie where Mason's father (Ethan Hawke) gives him a gift for his 15th birthday: a self-made, 3-cd compilation which he titled, "The Black Album", featuring his favorite Post-Beatles songs. "Band on the Run" is the first song on the album, and also is played during the scene. There's an awesome discussion about The Beatles and their solo work that follows (which I won't ruin for those of you who haven't seen/are interested in seeing it), I couldn't help but smile to myself in the theater. Fun fact, Ethan Hawke actually made this compilation as a birthday gift for his daughter in real life. If you're interested, here's a link to a Buzzfeed article that has some more backstory: http://www.buzzfeed.com/ethanhawke/boyhood-the-black-album#346mawk Enjoy! - Anthony
