What's the policy on bringing cameras into the shows?

I've got my tickets for the 2nd Orlando show on 5/19 and can't wait. I am wondering, though, about what the policy is on bringing in cameras? I got some very good seats (close to the stage and on the side where Paul's piano is) and I'd love to get some shots of the show. Camera allowed? Stuart

Point and shoot OK. SLRs are technically prohibited. I was in Row 4 at Wrigley in 2004, and did well with a Canon S95, which shoots RAW. Others here can tell you what they use for hyper-zoom point and shoots.

it depends what venues hes playing at i was able to take pics and video at the coachella 09 show and the hollywood bowl 2010 show then again they were both out door venues

I may get flamed for this... But take a few quick pictures here and there... but then put it away. Live in the moment... watch the show through your eyes, and not through a tiny glowing LCD screen.

Or bring a non-fan friend/family member with you to be your camera man.

I took some pictures in Detroit when he played Comerica. They allowed point and shoots and I even got a picture of Paul looking at my camera.

An interesting, albeit expensive, idea. So, it sounds like P&S are OK but larger cameras aren't. Not to worry, rlj1010, I'll probably bring a camera and then get so caught up in the moment of the show that I never pull it out and use it. (Hmmm, that sounds slightly pornographic.) I just don't want to get busted at the door and have to cruise back to parking to take a camera back.

I've only ever used my point and shoot and the only times I've had trouble were at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. But, I was only yelled at briefly

Video is frowned on. I've never had any problems with point and shoot.

I agree...take a few but not so much where you do not watch the show, I have seen it happen with people that I was with at the show.

First time up to the gate they told me to take my camera back to the car... snuck it in... then during the show a guard went to the guy in the row ahead of me and told him to put it away.

At Comerica? Weird they were doing that where you were sitting. When we were all standing outside waiting to go in, the security guards were even telling folks that only point and shoots were allowed. I never got bothered the times I had mine out, same with others around me. I could see tons taking pictures on the main floor as well.

I took lots of pictures at Comerics--from about row 10 center. Guy beside us videotaped most of show.

When I saw him in Utah, they said no video. Yet I took three- with security standing right behind me- and the videos are currently on YouTube.

I think the best way tactic, is just put it in your pocket and get inside the quickest way possible. If you're asked to stop, stop...until the end of the show.
I'll never forget the Citi Field security...where half of the guards had wands and half didn't, welp...if you wanna take a picture, bring some drugs, or blow up the place...I'd suggest not going to the guy without the wand! DUH. That was weird security move. -

So my fiance just bought a Nikon DSLR (D7100) and he really wants to bring it to the Paul show we're going to in July. We've got floor seats, so we're hoping to get some good shots! Anyway, it's not a professional-quality camera, but it's got a pretty big lens ... do you guys know whether it's likely security will make us keep it in the bag (or, worse, bring it back to the car)? Thanks!!

does the lens come off? That's usually the rule...nothing detachable.
